  1. Two (hopefully quick) questions for the group. I'm new to the club and thank you for your replies in advance. I just purchased a re-release of the Tamiya Grasshopper (my first r/c car which was stolen when I was a kid) for my son. I spent the week building the car with him. 1) I had my original transmitter (Kyosho Pulsar 2001). After doing a little research including contacting Kyosho to determine if they made replacement receivers, I found that the 75Mhz AM HiTec 2nRB receiver should be compatible with the transmitter. I have found that to be the case, with the exception that when I first turn on the receiver (after turning on the transmitter of course) the wheels tend to go fullspeed in reverse. If I hit 'forward' on the trigger of the transmitter, the speed controller seems to reset and from then on, the car 'sits still' when the trigger is not operated. Forward operates just fine, but reverse never works after that. I've tried to adjust the trim controls and played around with the forward/reverse of the Tx, to no avail. I can't seem to get reverse to work. Has anyone experienced this? 2) Just wondering what the diameter of the optional 540 motor size 18T pinion gear should be? I purchased a Trinity Monster HP motor, as well as a Traxxas no.1918 18T 48pitch pinion gear, but this did not reach that counter gear in the gearbox. Clearly needs a bigger diameter. Since (other than number of teeth=18) only 48pitch is specified, I assume this has something to do with the overall distance of tooth to tooth (which for a given number of teeth means bigger pitch = bigger diameter). I've seen 64pitch out there (on-line). Does anyone happen to know what I should order (the original part no. 9805997 from the Tamiya parts list website seems to be 'out of stock')?
