So at the moment does this make me a Pom living in New Zealand, soon to be an ex Pom-iwi living in Aussie. Got a question for you Aussie R/Cers. What are the hobby shops like over there? Mainly Perth. If anyone lives there I'd like to know what's about. Cheers' Del id="quote">id="quote">Sorry to hear that Del. But Aussie's just a swim across the ditch. Removing decals for re-use. Possible?

Wow, this thread scares me[:0]. I'm getting married in 8 weeks time, maybe I should run while i've still got the chance[]. But seriously, i've got it good. My Mrs (to be) used to race and knows all the cars well. Whenever i buy something pricey i'll ask for her opinion first. She always gives her honest opinion but says that at the end of the day the decision is mine. But i think she appreciates it that i value her opinion. She also enjoys checking my progress on resto projects and has recently decided to start a small collection of her own mainly consisting of Mini's. [8D] When i told the guys at work they thought i meant 'mini skirts'!!!lol Cheers John

NIB Hornet Rerelease - $100. out in december :)
Type49rs replied to rroodd's topic in Re-Release Discussions
Yep, the new wheels are so much the same, that the sprue even has 1979 stamped on it. My cars also got new feet.[] Mmmmmm... new rubber smells good![] -
But on a slightly funnier note, I had a mate who decided to tidy up the wiring in his touring car, only problem is he 'cable tied' the front drive belt to the top deck.[:I] And on a not so funny note, another club member recently had his battery short out in his tourer -massive cloud of smoke at the end of the back straight. Upon closer inspection it was VERY evident that his LRP speedo was also history, without a word of a lie it had blown the case upart and had also blown various electrical components clean off the circuit board. He found no less than 13 parts either in his car or on the track. [:0] Without a doubt the worst 'fry up' I've ever seen.

It was the New Zealand offroad nationals back in the early 1990's. The 4wd stock title was to be decided in the third and final race. All I had to do was finish within 5 seconds of the guy holding second spot. Everything was going fine and I had pulled out 1/4 lap lead. With one lap to go we came upon some back markers. One of them (who also happenned to be from my own club) pulled out from the infield right in front of me and put me on my roof. The marshall quickly had me back on my wheels but my rival had taken the lead. No worries I thought, as long as I stay within 5 seconds of him I'll be fine which is what I did. Sweet, successfully defended my title..... NOPE! He just made it over the finishing line just before the 5 minute buzzer and I didn't. He therefore got in the extra lap.[V][][!] Took me a long time to get over that one, needless to say my clubmate is not exactly my 'mate' anymore.

quote:Originally posted by ScorchioI've no idea of dates but somwhere there should be some small print giving copyright and publishing dates in either first or last pages of the books themselves. id="quote">id="quote">You're absolutely correct![] Thanks Scorchio. I've looked many a time for publishing dates but never ever found them. They're written in very small print vertically at the edge of one of the last few pages. Most of my guide books have it but not all (but i'm still looking)[].

Do you mean the Tamiya RC guide books or the Tamiya catalogues (the ones with static models in them)? Does anyone have a comprehensive list of guide books including release dates from the first one to present date?[?] So far i've collected 17 different guide books but i'm unsure about the dates of them. What makes things a little more difficult is that i've come across two different books both with the hotshot on the front cover, and three different books with the bigwig on the cover!!! (there may be even more[:0]). Any info would be appreciated.[]

Hi Mike, I think from memory the O1R is a 19 double. Sounds like your speedo has fet damage. The 112B's are prone to melt downs. If you like I can get a friend of mine to have a look at it for you. He's a bit of a whiz on speedos and fixes them for modelshops all around New Zealand. Cheers John

Well done. Very informative, I'm also looking forward to seeing more updates.

Lack of descriptions in showrooms.
Type49rs replied to volksrod68's topic in Tamiyaclub Rules and Site Usage
Funny you should mention this. Not 5 minutes ago I was just saying to my girlfriend exactly the same thing. While I like looking at the photos, I always find it extremely interesting to read about the cars history, the rebuild process or the hunt for that last elusive part. For me the bigger the read, the better. [] I'm not exactly the worlds greatest writer but it only takes a couple of minutes to write a few sentences. -
Will brake fluid soften or remove CA glue?
Type49rs replied to Twmaster's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
I had a Monster Beetle shell that the previous owner had spilt CA on. I soaked it brake fluid for about 10 days (to remove the paint) and it had no effect on the CA at all. So to the best of my knowledge you shouldn't have any problems.[]
