Now those are some fantastic action photos!
Well done to your camera person.

I guess as long as you don't go really stupid with the powerplant in the LB then you'll do ok. Having said that, I clipped a kerb with one of the 3 (yep, three!) LBs we have and busted a front axle - more specifically the steering arm which is part of it! D'OH!
The Mad Bull is pretty bullet proof too

Well the frog is basically the brat chassis anyway

The BX is quite softly sprung on standard Tamiya CVA (black) shocks. The kit friction dampers didn't have enough travel for my liking (or any oil!). I've fitted double springs to the rear dampers on my BX. Works well and I can live with the squat. Actually the soft supsension helps it track well off road IMHO.
Anyway back to your BX stampede killer. Great shade of blue, but I'm afraid I don't like that bodyshell with those wheels, sorry. I prefer the original. (I much prefer the Baja 5b, I really want one of those, but this is a Tamiya forum

Decided to take some battery packs and three of my RC vehicles off up to Beacon Fell this evening - a popular local forested area. Had a great time bashing the BX, one of my LBs and the MB on my lonesome. Here's some pics when I got back:-

I forgot to mention that JB Weld (two tube version) is what has patched up a couple of small pinholes in the bottom of my motorcycle's fuel tank. No more leaks! Even when some petrol slopped over the epoxy all it did was make it easy to smooth out with my finger.

Welcome! I'm a relative newbie myself to TC, but not to RC. I also got a re-re BRAT recently, due in part to a teenage memory of fixing a family friend's BRAT - they were brand new at the time. 380 motor, hex driveshafts. I've also got 3 Lunchboxes, due again to having to build and paint one for neighbour's kid back in the 90s.

Happy RC'ing!

apart from trying to weld them?
I guess JB Weld is a pretty good 2 part epoxy suitable for metal.

Hi Kev,
The right hand pic showing the original WO arm with the round lug looks as if there's some shiny metal insert next to the lug extending to the left of the picture. I think that's what lucasan's referring to. A trick of the light I assume.

How about the F150 shell on the BRAT chassis?

i had to buy some alloy body mounts of ebay in the end as i was fed up of buying new parts after every meet, worth every penny.
Sorry for butting in guys, but these body mounts - where? how much etc. Thanks. I've not broken mine yet, but it is only a matter of time. Sounds easier than pinching some of my missus' knitting needles and trying to drill them

Cheers,

I know this is an old post, but here's the video for the Mad Bull Hippy Hippy Shake
Yes that's my Mad Bull - one of my other usernames and the one on you tube is TachyonDriver.Diff.

Some great LBs on here! Thought I'd dive in to this topic seeing as we have 3 LBs (and a pumpkin sometime soon!). My son's is stock, but I've got the Mystery Machine and Rollin Thunder, but that one's not completed yet. The only mods I've bothered with so far is the 3rd shock and little bits of rubber tube at the top of the shock shafts to stop them smacking the chassis as much when they rebound. I'll get some pics up soon.
EDIT - oops forgot - motive power is via Tamiya Sport tuned on Rollin Thunder and Ansmann clash 23t on Scooby's ride, all fully ball raced.

That's very interesting Mark - I bet that's how everyone (inlcuding me!) ends up with broken springs!
Regarding the third shock mod, I must say that the brackets which Tamiya include in the LB kit for oil shock upgrades come in very handy for the third shock mounts - neither of my 2 LBs have oil shocks fitted apart from the 3rd shock (small Ansmann damper unit). We actually have 3LBs in our family, but my son's is stock (with those broken springs!)

So...HELLO!
I've been playing around with RC stuff for many years now - helicopters, rock crawlers, gliders, buggies - nitro and electric, and an active member on a couple of other forums, but since getting back into old school Tamiya stuff and finding Tamiya101, I thought I'd join in the fun here too

See you later,

Another re-re BRAT fan here! Stock gearing, Sport tuned motor, full ball bearings (I always go for fully ballraced on my RCs). Great fun - there's plenty of steering lock to counteract the slides
