  1. Welcome Rich, i'm also a newbie, although have only just got into Tamiya. I've got a couple of tt-01's and have recently brought a pumpkin, brat and mad fighter to restore so understand your addiction mate. Enjoy the site BnD
  2. Hi all, need a bit of a shove in the right direction. I've recently brought a Midnight Pumpkin second hand, but it needs a little work and a few replacement parts. Firstly the shocks at the front have gone. I'm not sure whether to buy new oil filled (?) ones, new original part ones or to try and find some second hand ones. Ideally it'll be the cheapest option, but I'm not sure of the size or type needed. I have a similar problem with the tyres in that I need 4 new ones. Are these the same size as those you get on Monster beetles/Blackfoots etc, or do they have to be specific MP/Lunchbox ones? And does anyone know of somewhere I can get hold of them? The final piece to my jigsaw are the mounts to hold the body to the chassis. I believe it's White parts 'E' that the mounts are on, but I only need the mounts. Does anyone know if these are available seperate somewhere, or if there is another part from a different model which will fit, or do I have to buy the complete 'E' parts pack just for those? Once the above is sorted and the chrome parts for the shell are purchased, I should finally be able to restore the Pumpkin to it's former glory and move on to the Brat I've just brought to restore. Thanks BnD
  3. Thanks for that SteelRat, you've given me plenty to think about-will definately go down the esc route. Your right about the motor and battery..... Cheers BnD
  4. Thanks all for your welcomes... I don't have a significant other at the mo Steelrat, but with a healthy weekend social life (plenty of drinking) and currently saving for a mortgage, I think it is going to turn expensive pretty quickly! Haha. I thought the Pumpkin would make a nice first project seeings I don't really know too much about how they all work. Which leads me to my first questions (please forgive me if these seem stupid questions, but I'm not really in the know yet)- my second hand pumpkin has arrived-not in great shape, but I suppose that's what's going to make the project interesting... Firstly the MSC. It looks ok, but the resistor looks pretty shot, so would probably replace the lot. I've had a look at a set of Pumpkin instructions online but can't quite make out what sort of MSC is needed other than it being 3 stage. Is it a specific one I need or would a TL-01 or TA-01. And if I was to replace this with a ESC is there a specific one needed or would any do (like the one I got with my Tt-01). The replacement tyre is self explainitory, as are the various bits of damaged or missing chassis (which I wasn't expecting, but it's all character building). The paintwork to the shell is shocking-I could just purchase a new one, but there is no actual damage to it, so i was planning on stripping it, spraying it up properly, then maybe adding a few personal touches and detailing to it. Does anyone know of a simple way of stripping the paint back? I could possibly paint over, but the existing is flaking, which would result in an unever finish, and it would soon flake again. Cheers BnD
  5. Hi. I'm new to the site and Tamiya R/C vehicles in general, but thought it only polite for me to briefly introduce myself. I've always had an interest in Tamiya cars since I was a child, but was never lucky enough to own any until now. Around six months ago I brought my first TT-01 model, a ready built Focus RS WRC 03 from eBay, with he view to learning a bit about how they work, learning how to drive them etc. I soon after brought another TT-01; a Subaru Impreza Monte Carlo 07 kit and built one myself. I still haven't driven the newly built model yet, as I'm too afraid of smashing it into something a d damaging it. I plan to start upgrading one soon-I added new bearings to the new one whilst building it, but that's about as far as I have got so far on that one. I've just brought a Midnight Pumpkin from eBay for £30 as a project. It needs some work, as I think a couple of the shocks are damaged, the tyres may need replacing, and there are a couple of bits missing from the shell, but it's a runner. From what I can gather it needs a little work and a lot of TLC, but I think I managed to grab a bit of a bargain. I'm looking forward to restoring it, upgrading it and painting it up. Sorry for waffling on Regards Broke-n-down
