  1. Thats not what the holes are for, they are for playing with shock angle. When you move the shock positon, you have to reset the ride height back to whatever you were using before using clip-in spacers (or threaded collars on the shocks, depends what you have).

the holes give many options for many things - i was just pointing out one... (& yes, i'm an engineer so i know about rising rates, principles of leverage, stress loadings etc etc etc etc....)

  2. Hi all...

i recently got hold of a Kawada M300 RSX v2 chassis with a view to starting indoor carpet racing - can anyone recommend a decent entry-level brushless motor & ESC combo around the lower end of the price scale ?

    (Clubman's Modified class rules - 6.5 turn motor limit , 4-sub'c cells / 1 LiPo cell)

    thanks,

    AB

  3. The first number is the turns, and the second number is the winds. A 12x2 brushed motor will have two individual pieces of wire wrapped around the armature together 12 times. A 12x1 is a single piece of wire wrapped 12 times. Both are 12 turns, but the 12x1 will have a thicker piece of wire with less resistance, and therefore produce more torque (and heat).

The wind number is also expressed as a "double", "triple", or even "quad" if there are 4 individual wires. Your 12x2 motor would be considered a 12 turn "double". These different winds help bridge the torque gap between the different low turn motors...

many thanks, that makes things a lot clearer...

  4. hi all

    ,

i was looking at ads on Ebay & saw one for 'Power Caps' ; they are a silver cylinder with a positive & a negative wire attached, & are to be soldered in between the battery & the ESC...

the ad said they improve throttle response when you give it the gas quickly, so i suppose they are a capacitor of some sort (electronics are'nt my strong point...)

my question is has anyone used these, and do they work ? - i 'm thinking about trying them, but knowing how some of these supposed 'tune-ups' turn out it could either just do nothing, or worst case fry the ESC, so i thought i'd see if anyone thinks they are worthwhile - any advise on these would be much appreciated....

  5. Hello and welcome , Very nice cars .

thank you, i'm glad you like them - i had more including a lot of helicopters i did (all sold now), but lost them when some git gave me a virus & i had to wipe drive & start again...

i keep the templates i make when i'm doing the car shells, so i can reproduce most of them if anyone wants a particular set of decals - i dont use a computer in the design & the decals are all hand-cut from vehicle graphic vinyl which is why they are'nt all 100% perfect...

i tried sourcing pre-cut vinyl letters from a number of places, but the smallest i could get were 6mm whereas some of the ones i needed were as small as 3mm, + the 6mm ones i got were'nt any tidier than mine... they will probably make some 'original only' purists cringe, but i wanted liveries that no-one else has plus it gives me something to do to pass the time - some of them took between 20-30 hours to plan out & cut :)

if anybody is interested in any of the designs give me a shout & i'll see what i can do - i'll also have a go at other liveries if there is something in particular someone is after...

  6. hi all...

i'm another newbie to this site & just starting to get to grips with it... i copy BTCC, IRC, WTCC etc bodyshells & i've a batch of pics of ones i've finished & sold, + the ones still in my collection (3 TL-01's & a Pureten Alpha GP...) ; can anyone tell me how to upload them to this site (think they're too big) or recommend a good photo hosting site that i could put them on for anybody who wants to have a quick look at them - i have them on Snapfish at present, but i'm not sure about it and am looking for somewhere better or one other club members use. i did see a link to TCphotos i think it was, but on scanning down the topics in the forums a lot of people seem to be having problems with it, so can anyone recommend somewhere else...?

i did have 4 nitro cars, but as a result of an RTA i'm not very mobile so i got into electric cars instead as they can be used inside... i think i've gone the opposite direction from most people - most seem to go electric to nitro... i'm a real petrolhead & love anything with engines (i used to race F1 & F2 sidecars as the passenger), but 'cos of the mobility issue & the generally **** weather here in Northern Ireland the nitro's spent 99% of their time on the shelf ; i can get more use out of the electric ones...

that brings me to the other thing ; does anyone know of any r/c car clubs in N.I, preferably in the greater Belfast area ? - i would like to get into a club & maybe do a bit of racing...

that's all for now - thanks to anyone who has taken the time to read this ; not the best post in the world, but i'm new to the whole forum thing....

    ttfn,

  7. i've just joined & thought i might post pics of bodyshells i've finished in the last 6 months ; all the graphics were handmade by me (apart from lights, grilles & window frames...)

some were done to order, some were sold on ebay, & the rest are my collection (3 TL01's & a PTA GP...) ; i've also sold a few graphic sets for people to apply themselves - i found out about this site via a member who bought 3 kits...

i've got the pics on Snapfish at the moment (link is below...), but if anyone can recommend a better photo hosting site i would be grateful - i'm not the best with computers, so am not really up on uploading & posting etc ; this is the first club/forum i've actively joined...

    here is the link to the pics ;

hope you enjoy them ; i'll add more details to the descriptions etc as i learn more about this site...
