  1. You intentionally emptied your Plaza Japan cart???????
  2. Dear reader, I hope this finds you well. As always, I'll start with the backstory.... Ahem: Once upon a time, long, long ago, our intrepid hero purchased a standard and well loved M03. It looked like this: based on the timestamp on the photo, this was early Jan 2018. The plan was to go racing with it at a local club, so new tyres, body and a Team Powers cup racer motor were purchased. Our hero's wicked step mother had other ideas though, and shut down the location used by the club, so no more racing was to be done..... Time passed, forum posts were read and plans formed. A M04 gearbox housing was purchased, along with all the internals, some 3D printing was done and this was born: which grew and grew and grew: Yes - those are two 9T brushless motors. Yes it did run. Yes it was ridiculous..... I had a body pretty much complete, but many other projects got in the way and enthusiasm waned and it sat gathering dust in the corner of the garage incomplete. Fast forward to 2023. Our hero's enthusiasm for M-chassis cars resurfaced and he decided to buy a M06 chassis to go under a body that had been in his store for some time. Unfortunately, our hero was a little silly, as he didn't check that the body would fit over a M06 chassis and soon discovered he had a body and a chassis that were never going to get along. More time passed.... Eventually, a plan on how to use the M06 chassis was formed (look out for an exciting new build coming to a forum near you, soon.....) but the Mini body that was destined to go on it still sat unloved and unhomed. The idea of an M05 chassis was dallied with and put on the back burner while other projects were tinkered with to a more complete state. Whilst doing a tidy up in the garage our hero found the M-03/4 mashup, and decided that, not only was it a bit of shame to have a nice old chassis like the M03 go unloved, it would also be the perfect candidate for the Mini body. So our hero valiantly proceeded to strip the chassis down to its component parts, found the rest of the M03 parts in the depths of the parts dungeon and set about putting it all back together..... However, unbeknown to our hero, he was cursed by the wicked Blue Witch, which meant he was compelled to buy countless hopups, despite people telling him they weren't needed, or couldn't be found anywhere in the kingdom! But our hero couldn't stop, and after a very long time (and after selling his faithful horse and everything else he owned to buy them) he had succeeded in his quest. That's all for tonight kids, I'll tell you the rest of the story next time.....
  3. Oh - throwing in a bit of sarcasm now as well eh? Well you can forget watching Paw Patrol for the rest of the week!

  5. Is that a real grasshopper?????? If so, what kind of prehistoric, ninja turtle breeding continent do you live on??? I need to go and look at some normal size blue tits to calm my nerves!
  6. looks like a great plan forming here - can't wait to see more!!
  7. ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.... You know, I think we could start a new thread on this topic. Or should that be a new bread.......? I'll get my coat.
  8. Cheese toastie? Simple fella? Au contraire mon petit pois - that implies you have the means to heat it......... And welcome back into the "elitist" fold - good to have you on our diamond encrusted plain
  9. I'm sorry, did you say something? Hard to hear up here in my glass palace - it's wonderfully insulated - quadruple glazed you know smoked salmon and dill is soooo 2019 - king prawn, white crab meant and avocado is what us elitists are munching nowadays. Obviously, you wouldn't know that down there..... I'll see you your corned beef and pickle, and raise you corned beef and english mustard..... with a pickle on the side.....
  10. "Do you expect me to talk? "No Mr. Carbon Sheet, I expect you to die......!"
  11. Hey - I thought we weren't going to start another heated debate. But if you are going to be like this, then I say you're both wrong - it's Roast beef (rare, of course) with horseradish sauce!
  12. I made a very average ham sandwich for lunch. Does that count?
  13. I think "elite" is about the last label people think off when they see me For me the showroom and the free use of TCphotos are worth more than the cost of the subscription to the main site. It even took me a few years before I discovered the forum. I use my showroom to document my collection and how it evolves mainly for myself, a bit like the build threads here and the interaction (allthough purely online) with other members and users with the same passion is a big big bonus. Can't help myself but the idea that someone describes me as elite just makes me giggle Well said everyone 👏❤ I don't think anyone who pays the subscription does it for the content or the "elite" competitions - we do it because we value the HUGE effort people like @acprc and @netsmithUK put into maintaining and improving and just generally running the site, so likeminded enthusiasts can enjoy the camaraderie of people who just love all things Tamiya RC. I think the fact that during lockdown we were able to "gift" a subscription to other members proves that 100fold. If you want an example of what this site is about, look at the projects people like @BuggyDad, @toyolien, @ThunderDragonCy, @technics, @Nicadraus, @Mad Ax and so many more design and build and finetune and perfect; the racing by post competitions; the RC Gallery thread and lest we forget it, the legendary Conrad 240826 appreciation society...... This site is about community - an escape from the stress and pain of every day life and a chance to enjoy the companionship of people who "get you." It's about giving and helping - not what you can get in the way of followers or media coverage or showing off how big your collection of RC is. If you want to do that, and that is your main focus, I think you'll find more likeminded souls on facebook/instagram/tiktok, but that's not what TC is all about. The content available - such as manuals, technical data, old media - it's all supplied by members who are enthusiasts for the benefit of other members, who are also enthusiasts. The site is built and maintained by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. If you think "enthusiast" translates to "elite" - you are on the wrong site......
  14. Funny you should say that @Re-Bugged, I did some digging and found this: It was on the interweb, so it is 100% accurate and true!
  15. One of the best executed custom builds I've seen. Inspirational stuff!
  16. I've been having a major clear out of stuff in my garage and in amongst my Tamiya Spares Department I found this: I can't place it at all. Initially I thought maybe it was from an old pan car chassis, but I really am coming up empty. Any ideas anyone?
  17. that sucks so i know it isn't original, but would you consider a Team Blue Groove body? https://www.ebay.com/itm/153470499584?hash=item23bb8dfb00:g:Y6YAAOxyyghQ6Qe1 they don't appear to have the dimples........ .....and they are Canadian......
  18. I must confess I was just being facetious about the missing springs (maybe to deflect the embarrassment I felt after ordering my first set of big bores for my DB-01 and only when they were in my clammy hands realised they didn't come with springs....) but I have to say that, in my very humble and limited understanding, you are correct in how you've built them. I always thought a slight negative pressure was intentional, as it would mean the spring was always "pulled" onto its seats and therefore preloads them. Comparing them to the TRF dampers I've got on my TA-02 for example, as soon as I lift the car off its wheels the springs unseat ever so slightly. Now, if a touring car comes off the ground then something wrong has already happened, so this wouldn't be an issue, but you definitely wouldn't want it with a buggy where the wheels could be off the ground as much as they are on. However, I'm just muttering from my own brain, so I could be completely wrong (highly unlikely, but there is a 0.0000001% chance I suppose..... )
  19. I can see straight away a big issue here. You don't have enough spring return on the rear dampers..... Hope this helps
  20. Dunno if this is any help for future loses - particularly for those of you who don't have a dog: I am forever losing parts on my garage floor, and the best thing I have found for retrieving them is a "mechanics magnet tool": The astute amongst you will realise this is just a stealth body mount stuck to a transmitter aerial. Do with this info what you will........ ps: obviously this is no good for alloy parts, but I can't solve all your problems!
  21. Absolutely stunning @technics - just perfect!
  22. Been absolutely loving this build thread. Not only does it remind me of 13 year old me building my Terra Scorcher and all the fun I had running it, but you are also doing something I have always wanted to do - build a vintage buggy entirely from individual, NOS spare parts bags, and I have to say that, gracefully abetted by your impeccably spelled commentary, you have presented an absolute masterclass in your execution. The time and effort to collect everything (and cost as well I'm sure!) and the detail in ensuring you got the right version of parts, like the arms and bumper - all I can say is, bravo monsieur, bravo! If you're wondering why I'm saying all this now, it's because I have a feeling you are about to ruin it all by talking about "colors" instead of "colours" when preparing to paint the body, and I felt I needed to say it now to correctly show appreciation for your work before you mess it up
