i'm pretty sure the soda won't do anything to the glue the story i have read about glued parts falling apart when submerged in the soda : the parts where probably glued with CA glue and most CA glue doesn't like water once hardend so when the parts came off when submerged in the NaOH solution , it wasn't because it was caustic ,but simply because there was water! to me it also lookes like a 2 component glue ,either epoxy or polyesther and the bad news is that is hard to remove , i can't think of any solvent that would help without damaging the plastic like written in another post here :heat is your friend or mecanical removing regards

Ideas Needed On Sticker Removal From A Clod Buster Body
ben44 replied to AndyjcClod's topic in General discussions
i always use White spirit , it doesn't disolve dried paint only the glue will come off do not use Thinner or aceton ! -
a test foto paint removed with brake fluid worked well , the guy i bought it from had the brilliant idea to try glueing painted parts together , of course that doesn't work the only thing that happend was that the glue ( Ca- glue i think )disolved the paint and created a new kind of orange plastick that only comes off with abrassive paper then i started the work on the new body foto 2 foto3 Ben

I used brake cleaner (NOT not brake fluid !!) and it worked great it's an higly volitile spray used to clean diskbrakes/parts ( to get the black powder off) i had put the body in a plastick bag with a zip to close it , sprayed in the bag , closed it for 15 minutes end the paint came loose from the body ( it didn't disolve the paint , it just came off) Ben

Hi , what do they say? "great minds think alike?" Back in the days in my LHS i bought a marui galaxy and not the Wild One ;after some runs i knew i made a big mistake ( the galaxy was the worst car i ever owned - a few week ago found a decent Wild One for a decent price ,when i was cleaning and rebuilding it i couldn't stop thinking what a great car this would have been with some minor changes that hardly cost anything I love the Wild One and if they re-release it i buy it instantly and drive it because the one I own now is for the shelf greetings
-
just finished restoring a wild one myself , so what low costs changes should i have made in the design? front suspension : brass bushings rear suspension:one long shaft for the 2 arms ( like in the front)with bushings instead of each arm having a small shaft and the attachment of the gearbox to the chassis don't feel really that professional/quality to me , there has to be a better way moved the battery more to the front or put in in longitudinal for a little more weight on the front axle and bearings all around ,but these where quite expensive in those days

Today tried to remove the paint with a 20% NaOH solution it disoved the paint only a little bit , paint does not shine anymore but thats about it after one hour in the solution tried isopropanol that that didn't work at all gone get me some brake fluid; i'm hoping it will get the paint off : the whole layer coming lose and not just slowly disolving the paint what in gods name was that guy thinking when he sprayed this car glosy orange! he was a pursistent person because he clearly sprayed some parts before putting them together(making it easy to take everything apart for me) , why didn't he stop when he saw that horrible orange after he sprayed his first part ?
