  1. At least articulation of the steering links is lower (less binding with high suspension travel). About steering angle I will try to put it on a setup station and measure the steering angles of each tire to see if it maes a noticable difference. And a dream of me is trying them in a direct comparison on a proper offroad track with laptime count for my own judgement.... Lacks time an a good track nearby at the moment...
  2. Looks pretty much like std. Egress setup. Maybe just a historical thing to use something as Jamie did... Kit rockers should pretty much do the same job? And they have ball bearings.
  3. Great research work and end result Tom! You really shed some light in this epic prototype car!
  4. Many thanks for reminding me of your latest video @T-StudioWorks! It´s awesome again, ahell of work I guess! I especially like the timeline of the Avante cars in front and the explanations, what makes the 2001 so special. Also the 3d-printed rims are a cool idea! The reanodized dampers are topwork, I think that wasn´t cheap either. If you search for new ideas or the last icing on the cake: This could only be the smaller steering bridge of the 2001, which is another key feature and last evolution of the platform. Love the car, makes me wanna restore my second 2001 finally!
  5. My friend also has 2 Fantoms now, and with spray painting it´s nearly impossible to get the paint in the rear body! Very clever to brush these areas!
  6. Some great info here with the spray system! Very clever! Although I also doubt Acetone is a good thinner for the PS paint. They did manage it, but acetone can usually make PC quite brittle and blind, as we learned in our youth, dooh! My friend killed his Falcon body back then. So it´s maybe a question, how much was added, and how well and quickly it dries up during the sparay process! The link does not work for me, but maybe they´ll have it in their shop. I like the fact, that you should be able to really mix your colors on Tamiya PS basis. As said, it won´t be the healthiest thing. But durability should be a little better than with waterbased Airbrush colours...
  7. Holy Moly! Maybe a little bit too much battery power for an old modified motor. 12t brushed was really hot with rpm´s over 30.000 back then. I´ve no knowledge about txt´s, but Monster trucks need lower gearing because of the big tires. So I hope you switched to smaller pinions when going from silver cans to the mod Motor. Don´t know the age of it, but the collector looks slightly burned now. For my feeling it is a case for a commutator truing on the lathe. Or try to polish it with a hard eraser. (old Tamiya recommendation). Good luck for the new ESC!
  8. What light system do you use? The good ones working with a constant current output of 20mA. So there´s no problem to replace a 5mm one with 3mm. The Tamiya TLU 01 does not care about 3 or 5mm LED. It are the same output channels.
  9. Beautiful pics from the machine in action! We know you will further improve it!
  10. Cool project, but an M06 can´t be a drifter? Check out this video. Guess the devil is in the detail. Tamiya M06 beetle drifter
  11. @Kol__ That´s the best looking Madcap I´ve seen so far, very cool color concept and tweaks!! Hats off!
  12. Very happy to hear that Tom! And as you know, my Astute survivor is only missing one original knuckle, so if you need any originals for measurements maybe, let me know. Greets, Matthias
  13. Tom, theoretically, a Dyna Storm with plastic chassis would be possible? Maybe borderline from the philosophy of this event. Many Vintage events are already quite free from technical spec. again, which is maybe fun for some people, but not favored by others. I personally have my problems with using the torque tuned motor and not limiting a max. gear ratio. This will lead to some very hot motors in some classes, to say the least. And there will alway sbe the guys, that "modify" the siler cans to the max.. Also models with heat Problems from the past will have them again with this engine. I´d have chosen at least the Carson Cup Machine as in the European Fighter cup, which has at least a fan on the rotor like the good old Dynatech 02H. This makes this engine quite durable. But what I really like is the thought of using only Tamiya tires. For looks and limiting to too excessive grip level. shoud help fun and make ancient chassis with higher ground clearance too flippy on Astro turf sections...
  14. Just a very cool idea coming from Tamico, a special Vintage "race/event" series. Back to the good old times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eZ9Xh_Jolc
  15. Maybe we should comment in the video, that it would be a good idea to rerelease the licenses for Tamiya and let them build it again, when the Resto is finished!
  16. Me too, a true herocar of my childhood. Tamiya, come and rerelease it finally!
  17. Seems to be clearly a kind of "TT01/02" of the M-series. It will definetely not outperform M07/M08. Lengthwise motor is a bit odd for high power engines (which it is probably not intended to). I´m quite sure, a 16t Carson dragster set, which is still used in Tamiya Euro Cup series, could initiate some torque steer in such a small chassis... But for some nice scale driving and getting into M-chassis it´s probably the most versatile solution since M01/M02.
  18. Seems you are on the toyfair @qatmix! Very quick post! Could you pleas give us some news on the new M-Chassis derivate and the Fiat Abarth? Not seen pics so far! Have fun, Matthias
  19. Great Tom! Have fun building these 2 hot Protos! Looks awesome right now, another level up from quality, when I look at the cool motor plate! Keen on the DF03 mod, hope you got all the parts. Was´t easy the last years to get clutch parts from DF03... Greets, Matthias
  20. Hey Tom, been again busy around the house, but thanks for the Danny Vega article on his TRF. So you decided to restore the Astute finally! Guess who has the Extra Speed Astute Aluminum kit. So if you need some pics of the singele parts, let me know. I still haven´t packed it out, but I can do it for you. Greets, Matthias
  21. Wow! Didn´t know, that Graham is @graemevw! The old suspects! Great work from both of you, that thing looks really subtle and planted! Must be loads of fun! I´ve too many projects running at the moment, but this concept will stay on my list for sure! So cool, with the Vintage Grasshopper looks and sleeper tech !
  22. Really cool Porsches! Did you ever try to fit Tamiya Rallye Block tires for a more "serial" look?
  23. Lovely outcome, very cool and different with the rare body! The vintage drive shafts did freeze me: 81DM original price!! Holy Moley!
  24. So cool @ThunderDragonCy ! This would be a Grasshopper for me! Do you have a link to the video outside FB maybe?
