The good lady is away this weekend and after a bucket load of things to do around the house I thought it only fair that I had a treat! It's getting a Super Stock motor as well for a bit of serious welly!

The Tlt-1 Rockbuster

This ones been breathed on a bit Twinset, and to be honest the only thing putting me off the thing right now is the odd battery pack that the thing takes...........would be a dead cert if it took standard stick packs considering I have so many dotted around the house! Is it possible to make them run on standard stick packs? -
Anyone got one of these little monsters? What are the pros and cons of them? I have the chance of getting my TXT-1 a little brother!
-
I never was a fan of the Evo's always being far more fond of the Scoobys.............. Can't beat the good ol' classic Delta. Question is can I really justify a Delta? Question is..........what's going to stop me? Mwahahahahahaha

Lights maybe......................horn?????? Maybe the scale truck folks would want a horn, but even then................

I'm trying to keep the peace, and the wonderful lady has decreed that two enormous Monster Trucks in our small home office, along with Wild Wily 2 and a Monster Beetle............especially as I fancy a rally car now as well! So my 4 week old Super Clodbuster Chrome has to go as I now have a TXT-1. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=STRK:MESELX:IT

Grrrrr............... I hate eBay snipers! Lost out again. On the hunt again then........although I guess I could probably do with selling my Super Clodbuster first before my good lady decides to murder me!

Help Identifying This Monster
Jonesy76 replied to breck's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
Clodzilla II I think due to the curvy design of the chassis stays. -
Considering I finally have the wotsit back in one piece I thought I would share it with you all now it's running beautifully again! This is how I got it (taken just after removing the vertical shocks that were on it) :- And sadly it had a few problems with the gearbox attachments to the chassis, and two cracked hubs (not visible in the pics) These were replaced with GPM alloy components The gearboxes got tackled next and I found that not only were they completely box standard (i.e. no ballraces) but they'd been built with horrible red gunk (alledgedly grease) in them all. This became a mission and a half to try and get all the metal gears cleaned up prior to being re-greased which is where a slightly late night after work and the steam cleaner came into its own.........VERY tricky to clean the small diff gears with steam, but I managed with only a few nice scalds! Now to re-assemble front and rear gearboxes using ballraces and good ceramic grease After doing the same with the centre gearbox (full clean, re-grease and fitment of full ballraces) I then moved on to the motor issue. A pair of LRP 19x2 motors were then added with my own home made wiring connector to join them up to the Mtroniks Tio Storm no-limit ESC the car is now running. The final touch was installation of the highest powered Futaba metal geared servos I could find in a normal size (S3305's) and a 4 channel Radio so I could independantly turn front or rear wheels........it's great to see peoples faces down the beach when they're trying to work out whats wrong with the car as it goes sideways! (witness the wheel allignment in this next photo!). Added to this running gear were 4 100mm Yeah Racing oil filled dampers, and the addition of a rather silly HPI Plymouth Hemi Cuda bodyshell to it (don't worry all you original fans.......the old body is still safe and sound).

Project Juggernaut

Hmmm........... That listing is a bit vague isn't it? No mention as to what motor limit you can get away with on it. Probably best then to stick with the relatively mild mannered Sport Tuned motors in it for the time being -

Fusion Hobbies are a good bunch so you shouldn't have any problems with them, but have a hunt (probably eBay) for them a bit cheaper. What ESC are you thinking of going for? -
Best Monster Truck/off-roader

I have a TXT-1 that I've just restored, a Super Clodbuster taking up lots of room in our office (my wife loves me ), and a Monster Beetle with its gearbox in bits in the kitchen (she loves me again ). My opinion......... Get a TXT-1 Yes the suspension system does lack the vertical suspension looks of the Juggernaut, but you can screw vertical suspension to the TXT-1 should you wish as my restoration project turned up with vertical suspension already fitted. I have the long shocks still in my parts box should you need some..........why did I take them off mine? With the vertical suspension fitted to the TXT-1 you don't have half as much lateral flex as you do with the original set-up. Also if you stick a pair of 19x2 motors into a TXT-1 it goes like absolute stink which is a whole host of fun on the wide sandy beaches of North Norfolk. Wait for the pics some stage this week when I finish off my TXT-1 with its new Plymouth Hemi Cuda bodyshell...................it's not exactly old-school Monster truck but it looks cool! The TXT-1 (and Jugg 2 I think) has a 330mm wheelbase so a standard 1/10 bodyshell does look a wee bit dinky on them. The Plymouth shell I have is a 1/8th job from HPI and fits the TXT-1 very nicely -

Yeah....... The good ol' Sport Tuned are a reasonable upgrade on the bog standard silver cans and are roughly around 23 turns depending on what version you manage to get your hands on. Now I've got home and had a look at the pics properly (was looking earlier on my iPhone so I couldn't see the pics properly) I've noticed that what you have there is a Juggernaut 2 rather than the bog standard version that was notoriously weak in its drive train. You should therefore be able to run a bit more power through your Jugg. Try a pair of the sport tuned motors (I have one in my restored Monster Beetle and its a good bit of fun) but you may find you want to play around a bit more with them after having some running. I ahd it pointed out with my TXT-1 restoration that you can either go powerfully and have some fun sand blasting with the TXT-1 or go the other way and stick a pair of high turn, high torque motors in there to do some serious crawling.........apparently the Jugg/TXT-1 drive system is pretty good at crawling if you lock up the diffs. I live near to the coast of Norfolk so I fancied some sand blasting with mine giving it some poke. As for your ESC you could always place it where the 4 AA battery pack is currently mounted? You won't need the battery any longer if you go with an ESC. -

I'm running twin LRP 19x2 motors in my TXT-1 through a no-limit Mtroniks Tio Storm ESC.......... Goes like stink! But the Jugg is a bit less robust than the TXT-1 so those motors may kill the Jugg. -
So why is the TB-01 better than a DF-03 RA? Call me stupid but surely a brand new chassis design has to be better than a 10 year old one? Are there still plenty of parts for the TB-01?
-
Boxed and unbuilt? I do like the look of the classic Scooby Imprezza that used to go on the TB-01 chassis but finding one of those unbuilt is going to be tricky.
-
I agree that the old kits had their nice component presentation, but I enjoy the build more than the box contents. The TB-01's do look like a nice kit, but the only kit I can find is an incomplete kit of an Evo from the States. Too many decisions needed!
-
Ha ha! I take it that it's your Celica? That's the problem with the TA-01 and TA-02 chassis.............I can't find any unbuilt kits, and I fancy building something from the kit again after doing my Monster Beetle and TXT-1 restorations. The DF-03 RA chassis seems to be the only ones I can find right now, and to be honest my Keen Hawk on the standard DF-03 chassis was absolutely superb.
-
Never been bashing, but I'm back into the hobby now with a Monster Beetle, Wild Willy 2 and a TXT-1 to play with so I'd be up for some bashing.
-
I hate being back into Tamiya cars again! So many things to spend my money on! Well after building my Super Clodbuster Chrome edition I managed to end up swapping my customised Lunchbox for a beat up TXT-1. The TXT-1 is actually a lot more of a piece of kit than the Clodbuster, and rebuilt I'm now charging around with twin 19x2 motors on board and it does make for some good fun, so my Clodbuster is going to get offered up for sale to fund a rally car. What do you guys think of the DF-03 RA chassis? I used to own a real Toyota Celica so the Didier Auriol Gen 5 Celica GT4 car looks pretty good to me right now, but what can you do to the DF-03 RA chassis? Will it take some real poke? I'm thinking brushed for the time being, but possibly brushless in the future. Or do I go for the new 2wd Suzuki Swift on the M-05 RA chassis?

Non-standard Bodyshells
Jonesy76 replied to Jonesy76's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
Hopefully those nice people at Modelsport are sending me something a little bit radical for the TXT-1! Saw those excellent HPI Savage shells and the muscle car fanatic in me stirred so one Plymouth Hemi Cuda bodyshell is on it's way for the TXT-1! Muscle car monster truck! -
I've been doing too much Googling for my own good of late so I thought I'd open this one up to the knowledge base on here. My TXT-1 project is now coming together nicely (twin 19x2 brushed makes it more fun than the clod especially with separate steering servos and a 4 channel radio!) but the stock body is a bit boring. Basically I'm after something that makes it look more like an old-school Monster Truck rather than a truggy on steroids! Anyone know of any manufacturers of 'Out there' bodyshells possibly in 1/8th scale (seen a 1/10th Parma Gravedigger shell on a TXT-1 chassis and it looked a bit diddy)? Preferably NOT the Gravedigger shell too. If the chassis of the old school 'Frankenstein' (the midnight pumpkin inspiration) was a bit more modern looking I may have gone hunting for a Ford F100 shell and my yellow paint!

What Do You Use To Clean Plastic Parts?
Jonesy76 replied to HomerJHandley's topic in General discussions
I find warm water and a bristle brush is superb for getting general dirt off components when I'm rebuilding an old RC, but once the parts are dirt free I then swap over to a steam cleaner to get old oil, grease stuck on muck off it.
