That's a great looking car that has resulted from the thread started in the general chat forum. I have really enjoyed your build and the rewards are days in the park with your son. Awesome stuff mate, it doesn't get much better than that.

I think you made a great choice. I picked up a Mad Bull because I wanted a buggy that I could just throw in the boot of the car and take anywhere. I wanted something that could handle beach, woods, park, puddles, you name it. I also wanted the car to be tough enough for my two children to drive (age 7 and 3). I was advised that the Mad Bull was the car for the job and I can't praise it enough. I will probably pick up two more so thatwe can all have one each, the kids love it that much. Enjoy yoursand don't forget the pictures!

That is such a good looking buggy. Absolutely beautiful work.

Mad Bull (first Tamiya build) questions, please
Scouser replied to briscaF1's topic in General discussions
I agree totally. Initially the Mad Bull wasn't on my radar at all. I started a thread to get opinions on my original short list and was recommended the MB due to my wishlist. Had it now for a while and am delighted with the choice. It is exactly what I was looking for as an all round basher that is fun and easy to maintain. I also learned that you can fit the wheels from the Aqroshot and have a world of tyre choices opened up for you. Enjoy your Mad Bull, keep us all updated with how you get on. -
Mad Bull (first Tamiya build) questions, please
Scouser replied to briscaF1's topic in General discussions
I got my Mad Bull from Goldstar Stockists without esc and it was £64. I picked up a waterproof speedo and some bearings at the same time. My seven yearold daughter and my three year old son each drive the car around the garden and I can definitely recommend the Mad Bull for this task. It can certainly take the abuse. I have a wheel type controller and both my kids can use it ok.my three year old likes me to do the steering but my daughter is really quite good at controlling the car all by herself. Hope this helps. -
Saw that the weather tomorrow is forecast to be in the 80's and prepped the Mad Bull for the beach.

Second vote for the Imax B6. Had mine for years and it has been perfect. Absolute doddle to set up and use and doesn't cost the earth.

It's quite scary that you call this "winging it". I really do look forward to the updates on the build, it looks like it will be a stunning piece when finished.

Never used 3004's before, will they be up to the task? There must be some weight in the chassis by now!

I actually think that Tamiyaclub has saved me money in a roundabout way. If it hadn't been for the advice of the members here, I think I would have gone and bought a car that wasn't necessarily right for what I wanted. The members of this forum are the most knowledgeable I have come across and advice is always spot on. What keeps me coming back every day is the enthusiasm and amazing talent shown in the builds. Love this place even if I don't post much.

My process is pretty simple. Is it Tamiya? Is is upgradable? Can I modify it? Will I be able to use it regularly? If the answer to 3 of these is yes, I am happy.

When you put this much effort into the chassis, I cannot wait to see the bodyshell! Loving every update.

Welcome. This is an incredible place to feed your addition and get all the encouragement you need to empty your wallet. My girlfriend (now wife ) was the one to get me into the hobby and like you I wished I had got into it sooner. Still, better late than never.

Went for a back garden bash with the Mad Bull only to find the gearbox housing was broken. Luckily I bought two kits in order to have a stock of spares so the repair took 5 minutes. All is well again.

Watched the movie again last night, that plus all these amazing builds has prompted me to do something with the Mad Bull. Won't be anything as skilful as this though! Loving every update.

What do you like doing for fun with your R\Cs
Scouser replied to AndyjcClod's topic in General discussions
I love all aspects of the hobby. Buying, building, running. One of the things I enjoyed the most over recent years was taking a Tamtech and turning it into a full on racer. The satisfaction of exceeding the expectation of the car was a huge buzz. That thing was raced every week against 4wd buggy's and more than held it's own. I don't race now so I am looking forward to just running the Mad Bull and getting the kids into the hobby. -
Two brand new Mad Bulls, waterproof speedo, batteries and some bearings. Hmmm, what to do tonight!

Just read from start to last post. Truly fantastic work. Taking one of Tamiyas 'fun' kits and turning it into a piece of rolling art. Love it.

Love it. These are the diy mods that make ownership more enjoyable (for me anyway). Been doing quite a lot of searches over the past 12 hrs and the decision is made. Next post will likely be in the 'what the postman brought' thread.

Thank you everyone. I believe we have a winner.

I had always discounted the Mad Bull as I thought the rear suspension was a weak point. Is this not the case? If it can take a beating then it certainly ticks all the boxes for an all-rounder.

Wow, thanks for the replies lads. Loads to think about. I had a look at the dt 03 and it looks like the TamTech chassis grew up. That is a very good thing as I raced a TamTech for years and it was the toughest car I ever owned by a long way. The CR01 is one of my favourites and I confess to overlooking that one. Price isn't too bad so definitely worth a look. Really interested to hear the Beetle would be most fragile, I have never owned one of the cars with that chassis but always imagined them to be tough as old boots! So the beetle has now been eliminated. Thank you so much for the advice, this place really is unparalleled for its knowledge base. ps. Berman, you ain't missing anything at the minute mate. This place is a mess!

Firstly, my apologies if these types of thread are tiresome. I normally will just make my own mind up but on this one, I could use some insight. I am going to buy a new kit. This will be a 'throw in the back of the car, take everywhere' type of thing. Beach, woods, park, street, yard and anywhere else you can think of. I was looking for something upgradable that also has some known diy mods that work as I like to customise. Tough, reliable, easy to work on and fun. So far I am stuck between the Monster Beetle, Lunchbox or the GF01 Dump Truck (my son loves construction stuff). I really could use some wisdom from owners of these trucks and would appreciate any pointers to others I may have overlooked. Thanks for any help guys and sorry again for such a facepalm thread! Jon.

I am in the process of building a TL01 drifter. Managed to get a one way front diff for a few pounds from Honk Kong, speed tuned gears, full bearing set, locked rear diff and a decent servo. Good solid chassis that can be made to drift very easily and cheaply. If you really get into it there is a modification you can do to the wishbones that takes away the need for the 'C' part of the front hubs and gives massive steering angles, which with the way the TL01 is set up, should work very well. Post some pictures up as you progress.

One of the things I miss the most about smaller scale is the costs. Sometimes difficult to justify the prices of 1:10 when you see what it is one size down!!
