Quick Silver Tc Series At Hrccc (leics)
Walsall-Basher replied to Jammer's topic in Meetings & Events
perhaps the buggy racing next year for my little one, if she can get her lunchie round in under a minute i might let her pick a new ride! and yeah it will probably end up pink i guess! i've just finished my TT01 - too pretty to race alas! did make a couple of mistakes with the decalling but i prefer to call it personal touches (bodges) thanks again guys for the rescued shell that will though, its definitely not too pretty lol so roll on the next time i can get down there! i've got my pit equipment all ready, basically its a sandwich, choccy biscuits and a packet or two of cheese n onion. ok i'm probably gonna buy some tyre additive, and a set of the wheels and tyres in the club shop, might get a fancy dan charger as i can see the need for one. anything else I could really use apart from basic tools? havent really got any spares to swap out. have got the spur and pinion you guys recommended winging its way to me but apart from that its totally bog standard, ideal for a bog standard driver lol. -
Df-03 5.5t Ezrun Motor, No Drive

ive managed to order a new gear parts bag from japan and a new diff gear from TTP to rebuild the diff, only thing I'll be re-using (at the moment is the cap screw, lock nut and bearings, which look fine to my naked untrained eye when i built the diff, having no experience, i just tightened everything til it felt right, i've just been reading a few posts about setting up a diff and obviously i didnt tighten it enough. i did the same with the front diff which stopped working on the first run and had to be re-tightened. anyone got any golden rules about assembling and setting these specific diffs up so i might not melt the next one? -

Df-03 5.5t Ezrun Motor, No Drive

thanks for the heads-up, i've just ordered one from tonys tamiya parts on the bay, was showing 6 for sale but modelsport is showing on order so im not hanging around. ok ive got the front end off and have just been cleaning everything, havent taken the front diff apart yet but i have noticed its working in my hands and seems pretty solid. pretty confused right now! both the diff joints are a bit mashed, not where the dog bones sit inside but on the outer edges, they are torn up quite bad and have splits and chunks missing. did notice this starting when i was running the stock motor in it tho. obviously weak parts. -
(frowny face) hi i'm a total novice at this stuff, help needed! my df-03 fitted with a 5.5t ezrun brushless got its new pinions today (85t spur and 23t pinion) so i took it for a test run at the local astroturf. everything was going great until it suffered a total lack of drive. thinking the motor may have shifted i brought it home to find it weasnt the problem. the pinion is still meshed nicely and the main drive shaft is spinning well but im getting no drive to the wheels. before i start lifting out the front and rear gearboxes anyone want to prepare me for what i might find? im not running a slipper clutch as yet, perhaps i shouldve done?

Ezrun 5.5t Sensorless Brushless System
Walsall-Basher replied to Walsall-Basher's topic in All things electric...
i got an 85T spur in the box, which according to instructions is to be used with 53922 set of pinions. so i guess thats my first port of call, not sure if im serious enough at the moment to lay out £40 for the slipper clutch (i might even google it and see what it does ) as for the batt/charger ive got a core racing 5000 nimh being charged on an Ansmann powewrjack 6 delta pro. dunno how pro it actually is as it came part of a starter pack from modelzone. esc is soldered to motor and using deans connectors as i read that there might be resistance issues with the tamiya conns. its certainly giving more 100% run time since i lowered the punch settings, but not all the way down through the battery by any means. i havent had any heat issues even after a full battery of stop/start speed. everything was cool enough to hold -

Nooby Saying Hi (and A Few Ramblings)

It seems the recessions been pretty harsh to the hobby businesses. There's a sad closed down shop in stonnal near me, the chippy next door is still thriving tho. Did find a shop in Dudley where they seem to know what's what and got me an esc for my keen hawk at same price as any of the online shops. Didnt seem to have a lot of stock in tho tbh. Fair play though they are building an outdoor track I think tho not sure if thats finished yet. Could be good. Better than a car park anyway! -
Ezrun 5.5t Sensorless Brushless System

Thanks I'll have a tinker with the set-up tomoz then. What battery set-up are you using? I think I'm ok, got a new core racing 5000mah nimh with deans connectors so hopefully it's not a issue there? -
Hi all, new the forum and rc'ing in general and have got a little question. I tested my new 5.5t system today in my df-03, the system worked fine on the bench but in test it seems very erratic. Im getting lots of lag where the car goes like it's got a silvercan in it, this is for a good 10 seconds, then I get a little hesitation where the car slows for just a moment before the whoosh kicks in. It'll then hurtle off for a little while until i have to lift off or brake then im back to the silvercanesque speeds again before the power kicks in again. I haven't messed with any settings yet so was wondering if there's anyone had the same problem and can give me a shortcut to some smoother running? Tyia

Hi im new to the forum and rc cars in general, very interested in some beginner class racing so if i get my new car built by Saturday I might come and have a look. It's the tt01e merc I've got hopefully on it's way. Hoping it'll be a little bit able to keep up with the others! -
Hi all, im baz, 38 and from the midlands. Recently had a little win on the poker and was wandering around Birmingham on my lunch break with a very burning pocket and stumbled across a Modelzone store. 10 minutes later and £180 lighter I emerged with a Hornet and all the rest of the gubbins in a package deal. Lesson 1 was to shop around a bit after I checked out prices online! I was still pretty delighted with the car anyway, my friend had one when i was 9 but I hardly ever got a go, 1 battery, 5 minute running times and overnight charges pretty much meant i had to be happy to watch. Couldn't convince my parents that a rc car was worth one of their weeks wages either. Anyway my build went ok, I always bodge things so apart from forgetting to remove the plastic covering on the spoiler before I carefully applied the decals i was quite happy! First drive the car spent a lot of time upside down but to he honest a few scratches doesn't bother me. Anyway I loved the thing so much that I've now got slick tyres on the rear from donutting and attempts at powerslides. Lesson 2 RC cars are addictive! 4 weeks i I've now got 3 cars, a bright pink lunchbox (pink as I bought it for my daughter, I even let her play with it sometimes!) The build went good with that one, apart from the last few screws attatching the sunroof. Didn't check the manual and used the longer ones and ended up with them nearly poking through the roof. Sandpaper and car body filler sorted that out! Lesson 3 check and recheck the instructions each stage! Okay then I fancied something a bit sexier, postman brought a keen hawk 2 days later! I loved building this! (mmm ball bearings!) Everything went fine apart from having no esc included (wools it did say on the product details) and the body shell. Decided to go with box art eventually ao popped along to Modelzone again, realised they are pretty rubbish in all truth as they only had a few primary colours, found a sexy can of humbrol chrome spray (compatible with polybods). Apart from if you spray inside it turned out as from inside it's beautifully glossy chrome, from outside it's old lady grey! Ok I'll spray the outside then, nice! Think it's dried, oh dear fingerprints, spray again, leave for a day, apply decals, oh dear they've all fallen off! Still fun to drive tho, can make it look pretty again when I know what im doing more! Did think it'd be fun if it went faster tho, eBay, ezrun5.5t brushless, Woops now it goes like a stabbed rat! First test run was just now at some underused astroturf near me. Didn't go 100% perfectly tho, had a lot of hesitation before the real power kicked in each time, i mean like 10 seconds running like a silvercan before the whoosh kicked in, also seemed to be steering left during this lag period before taking off dead straight when the motor kicked in properly. Any ideas anyone? Got another car on order now anyway, can't wait to smell that nib smell again! Final lesson, rc cars are worse than crack! And more expensive! Anyway thx for reading, hope to pick up some tips and knowledge to save me too many more pitfalls
