  1. Hey guys, I am currently looking at a big bear on ebay its in ok shape not so bad but the side housing for the batteries have been cut off the chassis and there is a missing light bucket. Anyone has a light bucket or anything for the big bear that would help me restore it thanks.

  2. Hi,

I have for sale is a Tamiya TB-01 only ran 3 times to be exact, it comes with a mamba max 4600kv brushless motor (which I ive only tried once on the car) as well as a castle creations SV2 ESC and two LIPO 4000 batteries, the body shell has a small crack from the front and the wing rear wing broke off when I brought it with me from overseas but its an easy fix you can glue it back on or just buy a new wing otherwise the the car is in excellent shape it also comes with the aluminum motor mount and comes with the orginal dust cover, great chassis.

Aksing $300 will ship anywhere I am in Canada. Also open for trades.

  3. "I was making my DF03ra into a waterproof runner. To make the Velineon system fit I had to re-solder the motor connection on the opposite side, remove the end cap and make a spacer to extend the motor so I didn't have to modify the chassis. I also had to cut the ears off of the Velineon ESC so it would fit flush in the chassis. The Velineon system is simply too much for the car. It has so much torque that I think you could easily destroy the drive-train if you weren't careful.

I've since pulled out that system and put it in my Hyper 10SC. So now I'm gonna just put a Mamba Max w/4600kv combo in there and call it a day."

the mamba max 4600kv has more power than the traxxas 3500kv. so, in my somewhat "logical" thinking, wouldn't he have to worry more about drivetrain reliability??????? any ideas on this one???? :P

True the VXL is only 3500kV, but it's also a long can 540 motor. More like a 550 motor. A side effect of the longer can makes the motor have much more torque. Also, the lower the kV the more torque a motor has. The higher the kV the higher the RPM which equals more speed.

  4. Hey guys, found someone who did it, but it looks like its needs moding.

you can see the pics from here:

  5. i had a traxxas velineon and from what i saw it has the standard mounting holes as a 540 size motor. as for the black cover, it's removeable but it will take a little prying to get it off. as for the wire length, you should be fine with no problems if you are using the traxxas speed control, those wires are pretty long. the esc and motor combo you ordered, is it the waterproof version?

    Yes it is.

  6. You may be in some trouble here. I tried mounting a spare Velineon 10T in an Associated B4 and the thing would not line up correctly. The holes for the mounting screws are farther appart than on a 540 sized motor. This in turn made it impossible to get the pinion to mesh with the spur gear correctly. Taking a quick look at my DF03 and the Velineon motor I think the 550 sized can will be too big and even if it was not, you will not be able to mount the thing to the gearbox.

According to the specs of the 3500 motor its a 540.

  7. **** man??? anyone installed it on here??? is there any hope????? I guess money went down the drain I should have bought the tamiya brushless motor.

I guess i'll wait until it arrives and see what I can do; do you think its only because the wires go the opposite way? as for the cap it can be removed from the motor.

  8. I can see where your queery lies. I have just had a look at their website and it shows the motor with a plastic end cap and the wires going back towards the output shaft. This is strange as I bought mine new and I have no cap and the wires come out in normal fashion away from the motor. Have wiggled it in and the motor mounting screws line up o.k.

If they're all as in the picture on their website I would think you would have problems as there is no space fo the wires to return across the chassis.

  9. Gents,

I ordered the velineon traxxas vxl3's brushless system; I called a hobby shop and was told that it should work with no problems??? but now I am afraid I spent 160 dollars I still didnt recieve it yet, so I thought this is the best place to get some info on the installing the ESC and the brushless motor on the DF03RA, does it fit with no problems???? any feedback is very good. Thanks.
