  1. So does anyone have a confirmed example of an MK1 SS with a black bumper? Or was the MK1 black bumper only found on the RR?
  2. That's a good question! I need to test fit some stuff to see what will work with the cage and can be trimmed enough to clear the rockers and sway bar. Digging up vintage pics of similar cars will help too. I'll research it a bit. Period correct body options are limited these days though.... There's a couple similar cars I'm working on that will need bodies too.
  3. Remember this pile? It's almost done finally! Adding period electronics now. A lot of parts have changed, but I'm still calling it the same buggy.
  4. Where did you find the BRMs?? I was asking about that a while ago and got zero useful info. Are they still being produced and sold, or did you find a set from another member?
  5. He's talking about something similar to how the old Hot Trick chassis were strengthened. here's an example (though it's a hot trick replica done in black)- ..or another example on this pile of **** that I'm building from old beat up left over SRB parts. These are home made and pretty thin, but also sort of function as a "tub" to help keep dirt out. There's a member on RC10talk who sells pin-router made copies of the butterfly chassis if you have BST access there. Nice parts and FAR more reasonable than one of the originals people try to sell on ebay for $200+ I guess I promised you guys a thread for my SRB projects too... I should get that started.
  6. That body is actually from a different car, I just sat it on top of that chassis to show how everything lined up. But yeah... I've got a lot of srb projects... HahaI'll add them to my show room here as they get completed.
  7. Maybe Race Prep? It might have mounted differently. Or the cantilever Race Prep set up?
  8. Yes, it moves the shocks forward of the cut out. body pictured is floating about where it should clip onto the roll bar.

  10. Can't wait to see this set up! I've got a lot of SRBs! They're pretty hard to find. I got hooked up with a set. They come in a smaller size too! The 550's in the rear and 225's in the front are going to look awesome! A couple pics comparing with the 915
  11. I've seen the modified version you mention. They don't look as good as the actual production version though. Someone was making sets that were a direct copy of that wheel, I just cant find them now! I remember seeing them on a Japanese site a long time ago, but can't find it again (not that I could read it).
  12. Anyone still selling these? I'd like to buy a set (or two) but can't find them anywhere. I can't be a VW guy and not have a set on one of my cars! Anyone have a link?? Like pictured below- Thanks for any help you can provide!!
  13. before I post more pics... no Tamiya booth at the RCX show????? what??? more re-re rc-10 content from the show:
  14. Got one signed by Jammin' Jay at the show today! I'll prob head back tomorrow for a bit.
  15. If you're a member over at "The Samba" you should post it up in the VW R/C thread! http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=522693
  16. If you're in the US, buy from TOWER before they are out of stock! $135, with free shipping. can't beat that anywhere on ebay.
  17. I don't know what it is, but I got it bad!! 95% of my collection is VW!! Glad I snapped one of these up while they were still in production. I guess now I wait for the M06 Beetle...
  18. Sometimes I buy a bunch of micro cars and have a good cry too. It's ok. We're here to help!
  19. That's really cool! Love that cage with the shock tabs in the corners. Can't wait to see it all back together! Keep us posted!
  20. One day the US TV show "Hoarders" will indeed come have a sit down talk with me about my RC stuff.... ...and this post is a preemptive "dibs" post if you ever decide to sell. haha I love the VW push rods for axle tubes! That's awesome. I'm a VW guy since I was a kid. I've owned 30+ VW's since I was a kid, and 90% of my R/C collection is VW based. I'm going to do some test cuts soon on re-pops of some vintage aluminum mod parts. I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Tracking down original parts is fun, and I love the primitive mechanical nature of them, but I also want to build one I can bash around without feeling bad about beating up! The shelves in the garage hold several "Scorpion Beetle" projects as well. Over the years I've seen a few "kit bash" cars built from parts of both. I love old weird builds like that.
  21. Thread from the dead! I got a bit hooked on the SRB stuff since I found this chassis... It is currently being restored. Just need to refinish the cage, and a few other parts. Also building this all white car. Mostly NOS parts, a few lightly used. And this one... built from all the used, beat up, scratched, worn parts. Building a couple of others too. Another with black nylon parts, a highly modded re-re, and another secret project I'll unleash on the world one day... I'm still looking for more parts, but the projects are getting there. Post pics of your car when you dig it out!
  22. It depends on what you want to do with it. Do you want a cool vintage piece to display, or something you can drive without worrying about it being damaged? Frog parts are still produced and easy to find, so you don't have to worry too much about damaging it. Many newly produced aftermarket parts are on the market too for that chassis. You could go either way. In my collection, I try to have a box art stocker to display with the box, another example highly modded with period parts, and a basher. Don't be afraid to turn one project into 3! haha
  23. I've just got this one old dirty chassis I found at Goodwill. It was originally a Firebird, but when I found it the body was long gone and the box was shot. This is all that's left. I couldn't leave a fallen soldier behind though! I don't really have any plans for it. It could be fun to clean up the chassis and find a new body to fit, but I have too many other projects as it is. It will stay as is until I need parts from it, or decide to sell it off to someone who will give it a good home. This poor car looks like it had a rough life!
  24. I'm doing some construction in the garage, and my display/project shelves are all wrapped in plastic sheet right now. I'll post an update on it (and other projects) as soon as the garage is finished!
