  1. Haven't done that mod yet but had got it in the back of my mind to do. just been looking bta on my setup Am going to get the hubs flipped to see what sort of room I got to play with it's looking tight at the minute with the lower links. No am only on this forum don't get a lot of time to be updating forums and I never know when I can grab an hour here and there to work on projects. Have got 1:1 22ft speedboat that I'm restoring too, that tends to come first lol. Clods a bit of a winter project !
  2. Is there a benefit of bta steering with steering sharpness or is it just a case of it keeps the front link out of the damage zone if your not running bumpers.. I aren't going to be fitting chassis bumpers only the body ones
  3. already got the wideners ordered from CPE going for axle mounted servos, might even flip the hubs for yet for behind axle steering, not made my mind up yet. thats my next task to fabricate and sort. I aren't locking the RWS as I want to keep the monster truckness of it.. Got an mtroniks super e-trucker no limit esc which will run 14.4V on e-maxx 550's so I'm sure it'll cope with whatever I got planned motor wise. I am going 14.4v for sure - mostly for runtime, not sure about which motors yet, cant make my mind up completely dont want a crawler but dont need something to quick, as my bashing spot is woodland with a tarmac driveway through it..
  4. Thought you might like to see my little clod project that I'm undertaking, not much left of the original clod now just the axles and chevy shell. Am trying to keep it as monster truck looking as possible. ESP Zilla chassis Custom shock mounts Losi Competition Crawler Alloy shocks & still a massive shopping list and loads of work still to do.
  5. Spent 3 hours fabricating and mirror polishing custom shock mounts for the new shocks on the mad mod clod
  6. thanks for the info guys. have gone for a set of losi comp crawler shocks, I'll let y'all know what they're like when they arrive
  7. am in the market for some new ali shocks for the clod project am building. Its only going to get light use and my back yard is like dense woodland / rocky etc.. so I wont be doing any 10ft air lol. Saw those integy piggybacks and thought they looked nice but having read up on the interweb they have a bit of a slating. just wondering what you clod guys have got or can recomend are you using 4 or 8 ? are 4 good quality oil shocks enough ?
  8. thats the problem with clods it's just near impossible not to buy goodies for it.. I purchased an original chevy bodied clod as "spares" off flea-bay thinking I would just chuck some radio gear in it and play about. Within an hour of it landing on my doorstep it was stripped to parts cleaned, evaluated, I noticed the chassis had cracked in the usual place and that was it... its now having lots of goodies just cant make my mind up about shocks and rear steer at the moment.
  9. Its a 911 / 953 The plaque next to it said it was on loan from the porsche museum in germany.. It is the actual one driven by Rene Metge and co-driven by Dominic Lemoyne in the 1984 dakar see here.. http://www.hockracing.com/home_e/page/Dakar_History.htm awesome piece of history.
  10. Passing my local porsche garage this morning & look whats sitting in the showroom window !!
  11. old school monster truck shell ?? That'll be a clod shell then
  12. Woke up at 5:45am went to work. Got in at 6:30pm and started rubbing the Clodbuster shell down
  13. Was looking for a little basher / "winter project" to generally use and abuse. Didnt want anything I would really like and want to spend a lot of money on and end up rebuilding as it'll end up like all my projects. i.e sitting on a shelf cause I darent use it ! Anyway having not owned a clodbuster before I really fancied one. Had a VLB & King Blackfoot and wanted something a bit different, TXT's and Juggs out the question cause I wouldnt want to destroy one of them. Found the perfect clod on e-bay, for a change the seller had advertised it correctly i.e. "spares or repair" pictures were not very clear but for £40 I thought what the heck I want a project anyway. Well theres good and bad.. Its an orginal chevy badged bowtie grill version which is a bonus and the shell is battered but the grill and tailgate are good, The chassis is holed where one of the bottom links fixes, all 4 tyres have cracked.. So I rip the thing apart today, get out the steam cleaner and go at it.. she's cleaned up like new ! far to good to destroy bashing in the back yard.. so faced with my basher / project needing a chassis and a set of tyres.. I start looking around for parts.. errrr errrr errr now waiting for my "zilla" chassis to arrive in the post
