  1. what about making your own " ladder frame chassis " ? either by utilising the rails from a tamiya commercial vehicle , or by buying suitable lenghts of alloy from the likes of B& Q . i know some of the parts can be a little pricey , but you can have leaf sprung axles too which wil be more in keeping with what your trying to create !
  2. much the same as anything else ,its worth whatever somebodies prepared to pay for it !
  3. its nice to see somebody rodding a model , very well done .
  4. having got a tamiya 6x4 tractor unit i would now like to construct my own low loader recovery trailer , if anybody has any spare wheels / axles or a fifth wheel pin to siut a tamiya plate i would be very interested to hear from you . jon
  5. thank you very much for the tip VTRSP1 , id been scratching my head for a couple of days trying to work out why the trims wouldnt make the mfc do as the instructions said it should , with the dual rates its now working ! jon
  6. i too was in a similar situation , having bought a planet t5 system a few years ago , unfortunatly with each model having different settings i was facing a challenge , either upgrade to something a little more expensive or buy multiple txs , one for each boat ( my main hobby is boats , but ive also got 3 cars ) i initially bought a planet twister , believing the sales info of the set having 8 model memory only to find that four of those are helicopter only memories , earlier this year following several brown outs at our local pond i sold all of the planet gear and bought myself a spektrum dx6i , as the name sugests its a six channel set , it also boasts adjustable end points and travel as well as servo reverse etc , it also has a TEN model memory and a system that prevents you powering up your model while in the wrong model memory , most of my models use the orange aftermarket receivers which can be bought for around a tenner each .
  7. thank you gents , im off to find another 50 plus turn motor , who knows they may like the car enough to become racers of the future !
  8. this may sound a little strange as most people would like more speed but for the time being i actually need to slow a model down ! ive recently purchased a re re hornet , which is running its stock 540 and whatever pinion that tamiya supplied , the radio is a hitec ranger 3 , 40 mhz ( with the quickstart on the rear case ) , ive turned the adjustable pot as low as it will allow , but its still too quick . what pinion would members recomend please ? the reason for slowing it down is its being used by our great gradchildren who are currently only five year olds . when they have mastered controlling the car i can slowly increase its speed !many thanks jon
  9. not being a great fan of the tamiya acrylic paint , i tend to use humbrol enamel for most of my detail painting , large areas are often sprayed with either rattle cans or an airbrush
  10. no problem with couriers mr crispy , i can give you a number for a mate who delivers hand built race car models all over europe personally in his van , he will collect from your premises and deliver on your behalf , not pass it over to a third party to be thrown around a warehouse etc . jon
  11. pm received and answered .
  12. ive sent you a pm mr crispy i wasnt able to upload photos as its saying file too large !
  13. fitted with mitibushi lancer evolution X lexan bodyshell which has been finished in light silver . the model is brand new and has never been used , it comes fitted with a standard tamiya 540 brushed motor controlled by a teu 101bk electronic speed controller and a futaba 3003 steering servo . o.i.r.o £ 80 plus postage
  14. for sale , one chassis tub with front axle , and gearbox . its unfortunatly missing its motor , all four shockers and most importantly the rear axle , i was going to restore this model but have found myself a cheaper alternative . rather than this take up the limited space on my shelf , im sure somebody else could make use of the spares ? £ 20
