Found another box of RC spares whilst having a sort out - just a few Clod bits n bobs but highlight was finding a Chevrolet tailgate and a Chevy bow tie grille (good condition but been sprayed silver). They will no doubt be heading onto eBay later this week.

Tamiya Manta Ray DF-01 - New to me
Percymon replied to Jason1145's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Daft question, and not wanting to insult your build skills, but have you checked the plastic end caps are present on the small idler gear shaft - without these the idler will rise up under power and reduce gear mesh to almost nil. There are some photos in my old Top Force rebuild here http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/68061-rebirth-of-a-58100-top-force-my-2-year-forum-anniversary-project/ that might be of some reference. Still think its motor mount related mind -

If you want to send me the ball diff I'll have a look at it for you, would only need a day or two before sending it back I do wonder whether your motor mount is correct though, if its one without pinion counts marked on it its very easy to get it set 180' out of kilter. -
That's an excellent price Anthony

Boxes - check local supermarket, or your work/school. You can buy large mailing boxes from the post office for a fiver as a last resort. Shipping - Royal Mail is pretty expensive, if its just a touring car then you can get a reasonable price as a medium sized parcel for ca £6 second class with no tracking/signature. Bigger parcels tend to end up with parcelforce so you're looking at £10-15 (hence a lot of sellers on ebay asking £13-18 postage ! I've used myhermes and collectplus for years (with both i drop at local shop as the drop-off point, delivery to recipients door). I will not use myhermes anymore - they lost a parcel of mine in October, letting my buyer down and me - it took numerous calls and an online chat session to raise a claim, which took another 2 weeks to pay out. My buyer had no good words to say about myhermes (lots of damaged parcels, thrown over the fence, or not even bothering to go to the end of his street) - he told me this after buyign the itme which clearly said myhermes shipping !! I've had no issues with Collectplus, shipped more than 20 RC cars with them. typically £8 next day, insured , with signature on delivery

Thats a very decent price given where sterling sits currently - i was expecting more like £230-250 to be honest. I enjoyed refurbishing my original, but remember the painting and decals weren't the easiest by any means. And it was a weighty brute lol!
