If you are looking as a refurbish project then the Avante gives you a few more externally visible metal parts to polish up if that's where you want to go. Otherwise they aren't hugely different in terms of driveline. Both iconic buggies, Egress the better handler but then i would say that.. Left Egress, built using a Vajra kit as a start point ( a year before Tamiya re-released the Egress) and my original on the right Don't think about a Vajra conversion - its far cheaper to buy the re-re Egress kit - trust me I know lol!

If you are looking for multiple buggies, then .. 1. I'd avoid the DF-03 - its too complex and fiddly to work on - if you are maintaining 3 of them between sessions then you will soon be fed up. 2. DT-02 - very popular, simple but tough. Shorter wheel base should help in tighter turns on the track 3. DT-03 - as above but with longer wheelbase so more stable but slower in tight corners. 4 DF-02 - benefit of 4wd over options 2 and 3 - robust with stock motors except for front plastic shock tower which is vulnerable on off centre front hits I know others mentioned it, but a DT-01 mad bull is simple and robust - the hard bodies are pretty resilient to hits , and the bigger tyres will better suit a rough dirt track. If you go down the route of the DT-02/03 its probably a good thing to build a few extra gear boxes as these can be swapped over easily with just , from recollection, 6 screws Bear in mind you are talking about complete novices driving,

2016 was a pretty quiet year for RC for me, sort of lost interest in many longer term projects as evidenced below.. Optima - no progress ! Towmator - no progress ! In fact JennyMo built her version in a 6th of the time mine has been stalled CPE Brushless Clod - woohoo finished, bought prepainted Killerbody Rubik lexan shell in the end as it was decent fit for the wheelbase and chassis width High Lift - another one finished. Quite surprised looking back that i did it in 2016 (feels longer ago!) Sold off some models, NIBs and some spares too - plenty left Other notable items I suppose would be.. > buying a vintage Hi-Lux, full strip, clean, polish, rebuild and repair / repaint of the body - very pleased that i finally ticked the vintage 3speed box > finishing my Terra Scorcher (sold to Wez-Li) and a second CR-01 > building the MF-01X based Porsche 959 (and a second chassis as a Skoda Fabia vRS rally) > the fact my only other buys were a DT-03 kit (sold for a bit of profit lol!), a part built Kumamon Tractor (completed and sold on), my first CC-01 kit (built but not run), a vintage Traxxas Bandit (easy clean up) and a Manta Ray project (new body waiting paint and decals this week). To some that might not look like too bad a list, but given my previous years were typically 15-20 models built / refurb'd etc thats a quiet year. And i'm currently not tempted to buy any more projects or NIB kits - good news lol! So a quiet year all told

For many years after the DB-02 came out , people still raced the DB-01 ( particularly in R guise). There were a few issues with the DB-02 which probably now are ironed out through owners perseverence. RR and RRR upgrades tried to keep up with the non Tamiya racers, but largely did little to improve on the R. Still think the DB-01R is a great bit of kit but then i still have mine

Will clodbuster wheels work with rit dye?
Percymon replied to Buggyjam's topic in General discussions
I've painted old Clod wheels which had yellowed with age - they do seem to take primer and aerosol paint quite well. Did theses on my Clod resto with Ford 'seal grey' from recollection .. -
I'd be shot if i painted in the house ! The amount of overspray from an aerosol can gets everywhere. I paint in the garage, warmed with a 2Kw fan heater - the garage never exactly gets toasty, but i warm the paint cans in hand hot water beforehand and also warm the shell in front of the heater. Heater off when spraying but then back on for drying (ca 3feet from the shell, and then i rotate the shell 90' every 30 seconds for the first 5 minutes of drying time. Then inside the house to cure (much to annoyance of other half - she hates paint fumes lol!). I've known member here use one of those small roll front pvc green houses as a spray booth - they do have advantages, better containment of overspray than using a box, after spraying you can close the front panel to prevent any paint mist escaping and any dirt getting in.

With no on-road cars in my stable, and no intention to add to it anytime soon its time to pass these shocks on. 49079 Clear Mini CVA shock set built to typical on-road length of 65mm eye to eye have Tamiya soft oil in them currently See photos - been on a shelf queen No other parts / no left over sprues unfortunately

Don't be greedy

Just reflects nib sale prices on eBay for the last few months. I suspect its more to do with exchange rate shift than moving the kits to market pricing though.
