The CVAs certainly help take some of the bounce out; the fronts cva springs are a bit week but at least they absorb some of the bumps - the standard shocks dont do a huge amount, its mainly the tyres that dampen the lumps n bumps. Fitting Proline foams inside the tyres will further improve the handling
-
The front shock is not the same as the rear, the rears use a long piston rod (ca 6mm longer) and longer plastic shock body. The springs themselves are the same front and rear, which is why the rear needs bigger preload spacers to make up for the lack of spring length
-
Tamiya 54567 DT03 shock set (black CVAs ) might be worth a look - rears might be the correct length, may have to meddle a bit to get the right length for the front Search out black CVA shock body, caps, spring platforms and utilise the current internals and springs ? Dye the yellow CVAs with a packet of Rit dye - i've used it to dye white items, may not be as effective colouring yellow plastic ? These were white CVAs dyed with Tangerine Rit dye..

Looking fantastic. One thought might be to try to put an upper shock mount in there somewhere - one bug bear with the SRB is the woeful shocks, and whilst there are many options to swap out the fronts there's virtually nothing that works well at the rear at the ca 55mm length needed to suit the standard mounting points - being able to utilise a 70mm shock at the rear would open up lots of options.

Not posted on here, or this thread, for some time but the last 7 days have seen.. Sand Scorcher rear wheel sprue Sand Scorcher rear tyres SRB Radio Mechanism box Some M3 rubber Rubnuts (5 for a £2.59 delivered and they appear to be a perfect fit at a tenth of the price of the Tamiya wellnuts) M2 stainless bolts & huts 4mm stainless dowel pins Sand Scorcher Rubber Sealed bearing kit Guess who stumbled upon his box of SRB spares while having a clear out lol! Now to decide on a chassis plate - use a vintage item i have, use a black re-re item or go aluminium from radshape?

NOW SOLD - CC-01 Pajero Newly Built with Hop-Ups
Percymon replied to Percymon's topic in Trade Archive
PM sent Having dug out the spares this morning.. There are various spare sprues including a spare set of body posts for the front, and the original unused plastic bumper. The chassis also has universal driveshafts at the front, and given the plastic motor mount is in the spares bag I would assume I also fitted an alloy motor mount at the time of assembly. No original box, but original manual, all unused spares and the Rallye decals included. -
@Adamcurrie thanks for the heads up - still have a few spare sets of the 84300/84301 items

For Sale - a bit unusual this one.. Started life as a TG10 Lancia Integrale I converted this to brushless using a new EZ Run 4300kV unsensored brushless motor, a new Hobbyking 45A ESC and a TB-01 motor mount. It's fitted with a alloy steering linkage , and Kyosho rally tyres It has alloy oil filled shocks - i think they might be Tamiya low friction items but i can't be certain. The shell has a few splits around the front corners and lower front spoiler area - its a standard touring car wheelbase so easy to find other shells to suit Run once for 10 minutes after the conversion and its a real hoot - 4 wheel drifts on tarmac are no problem at all Steering servo included - will throw in the receiver if its of use to the buyer Shipped by collectplus courier - UK only Payment by paypal gift please

I've been re-organising my garage over the last few weeks, mostly thanks to some free kitchen units from a friend. Has given me the ideal opportunity to see what i've hoarded over the last 7-8 years (and my goodness, I've hoarded some rubbish lol!). I've sold some RC bits, I've taken some to the refuse tip and i still have more to sort through. At least the bulk of my clearout has been non RC items !

Tamiya Manta Ray DF-01 - New to me
Percymon replied to Jason1145's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
BIGGEST problem with the alloy mounts is that they have no markings as to which holes are for which pinion, or which way up the mount goes. Bit of a mare, as you can't really see the mesh properly even with the top case removed! I'm sure there is a post/thread somewhere from TA-Mark about them and the effects of them being upside down Edit - found (probably one of many repeat entries) here - http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/63067-manta-ray/#comment-423472 -
I know visually Tamiya have tried to stay true to the original (with minor performance tweeks e.g. like the gold coloured front uprights on the Egress ) but i do think a slight variation wouldn't be a bad thing. We've had the black edition and blue edition LB, a chrome edition midnight pumpkin. A silver edition Top Force with simple monochrome decals I think would look great.
