  1. Can anyone scan me the basic set up instructions for the ezrun 35A ESC (9T motor). Took mine to work yesterday to read at lunchtime, and no idea where they are now ! I'm sure i'll be asking for the more advanced ones for the program card later, so if someone could scan those too that would be great
  2. Got mine today and there is nothing all about motor specs. The 35a esc has guidelines as to motor turn limits, and there is noticeable difference in the recommended limit between on road and off road uses. Had I realised 2 weeks ago the whole numbered turn motors were 380 rotors and the .5 turn spec ones 540 rotors I think I'd have chosen differently. Against that, I've only just managed to squeeze it all in my hotshot tonight and am yet to try it out.
  3. Is this the one ? ARW0600-20 Ansmann Racing RW .6 Module Pinion Gear - 20 Tooth £2.98 http://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=36705
  4. 3 monutes to go, still £41 and it doubled in price in the last 3 seconds !!
  5. Dan - i bet your Dad has a junior hacksaw and a tape measure ! I might have spare used plastic kit ones if you need something quick, i'll check tonight.
  6. I went with the Ansmann ARW3200-13 which is 13T, 32dp. They do a ARW3200E-13 version for 5mm motor shaft if thats what you need. How well it goes, and how well it matches, i can;t say because I only got my brushless ezrun set in the mail this morning !
  7. Are these to replace the plastic TIE rods for the steering linkages ? If so, the best bet is to buy some 3mm screw thread bar, some 4 or 5mm aluminium tubing and some rod ends, such as these http://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=13458 although there are other makes at half the price of Tamiya Cut the screw threaded bar to the required length, add one end, measure and cut the tubing to cover the central portion of the screw bar, add the tube as a sleeve, then fit the other tie end. You might be able to get the threaded bar and tubing at B&Q but a good model shop (selling railway as well as RC items) should be able to help you out. The end product will look something akin to the 4 links used on a crawler like this... to give you an idea. you beat me to it !
  8. Just remember most wheels are hex fitting, which is ok for the rear of the Fighter Buggy, but the fronts aren't hex (unless you mod the axles). I got a set of Ansmann 5 spokes and pin spikes last week - very cheap at £12, wheels look OK, but the tyres are very soft so wear will most likely be high. These are hex fitting front and rear though.. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=29294 Ansmann also do road biased sets which may be better for wear, especially if you run mainly on road (again hex fit all round).. loads of different combo's but as an example.. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=37954
  9. 75/100mm aluminium damper sets from Ansmann are about £7.50 per pair (modelsport). The DF03 alloy set 53926 is about £93 (timetunnel) ! Provided the Tamiya RF springs are the right diameter for the ansmann damper body, go with Ansmann !
  10. I've build new sets for the rising Storm buggy for my son at Xmas, i refurbed a set on my Manta Ray Resto - they do seem to hold up quite well to age. I've not seen the ansmann dampers in the flesh but i'd say the Tamiya ones are nothing special to be honest.
  11. Postman got me out of bed this morning, happy chappy because it was my EZRun 9T 4300kv brushless set with 35A ESC and program card - 8 days from HK, no import duty and package marked up as value of $7 so if i had been stung it wouldn't have been too bad ! Looks like it will be a tight squeeze in the Hotshot electrics box lol!!
  12. Th full kits are expensive purely because you tend to get Tamiya oil with them, and they like to charge gold prices for their oils. You can get Schumacher or similar silicon damper oil for abot £3 a bottle and do 8 shocks with it. There are plenty of aftermarket shocks about that will perform equally well, possibly look better and are cheaper (as per your other thread) [threads now merged]
  13. To keep costs down, and for a Fighter Buggy then Ansman will be an enough. Whilst that chassis is limited, you need to think what issues you are trying to resolve - spring rate could be as much an issue as the damper itself. Can you actually see the springs compressing much when landing a jump, cornering ?
  14. Mucho wonga on show - must look away Looks like a good turnout , and idea place for the first run out. Doesn't look like there's a huge amount of turning space for 2WS ?
  15. Well i was in the shop again at lunchtime, still 2 Hotshots ont he shelf and alongside a Boomerang, so thought i'd ask the prices. I got quite a shock tbh, £138 for the Boomer, £153 for the Hotshot. With Tamiyas latest price list, those are seriously good value.
  16. So guys n gals, i've bought yet another sad case , but fear not i have a plan for this one !! After expressing my views that the Clod wasn't for me (bouncy nature as seen in most of the video clips on youtube !), and with a little nudge from Pete (kaiser) I've taken the plunge, bought a sad case for an original Clod (bought t primarily for its wheels and axles, which with hopefully minimal expense can be refurbed , rather than forking out about £150 in new parts !!). The plan is to fit the relevant bits into a better chassis, biased towards cornering and jumping, rather than rock crawling. But which one ? Much as i'd love some of the more exotic ones.. G-made Dragoon http://www.gmade.net/bbs/zboard.php?id=cra...sc=asc&no=1 Team PRP Berzerker http://www.teamprpracing.com/clodbuster.html ...I'm going to have to keep costs in check with this build; which given its a Clod is somewhat difficult ,and i'll have to wait some time before a dual brushless finds its way into the chassis. So looks like my options are.. Clodzilla 2 - not realy keen on these due to the open nature of the chassis and they look to my eyes to have a high centre of gravity, and the clodzilla4 race chassis is too pricey CPE Predator - cheap enough, but the knurled bars aren't the best solution for the damper bottom mounts CPE Terminator - seems to be more what i want, CNC machined lower links for better damper mounting Thundertech Racing Rage - similar to Terminator Does anyone have any views on these options, i know kaiser went with the Terminator after comtemplating the Rage. And is there anyone in the UK (or mainleand Europe) selling any of these chassis - i'd rather not pay high shipping costs, import duty and VAT ! Many thanks
  17. God help him - i started with a Manta Ray resto back in October, now i've completed 3 restos, got another one to do, built a new kit and now i've got a battered Clod coming in the mail system ! This place is BAD
  18. Cut the first of the hotshot shells from it's mould, not the easiest !, drilled out the holes for the aerial,, spot lamps and body mount clip. Finished the build on the styrene rear wing to partner the second body. Painted the spotlights ready for install. Painted the lettering on the tyre Walls of the original block Tyres and finished prepping the wheels for painting. Oh yeah, bought a clod on eBay.
  19. MadOnModels based in Newport, South Wales They aren't the cheapest though !
  20. Perhaps availability to other markets is different, but this week my LHS received 2 Hotshots which are now on full display NIB in the shop, alongside Rough Rider, Sand Scorcher, Hornet and Blackfoot.
  21. Other than any potential sellers on ebay i think wonderland still list them at 248.99, or the buggy champ rough rider at 238.99. I've seem a buggy champ recently on ebay for £215 delivered buy it now, and another at £200 with £11 delivery and no bids. Sand Scorchers seem to be about £30 more on ebay. If you want to import them RCMart might be a good option, but be prepared for import duty and vat, cos with a package that size its not going to get through customs FOC.
  22. When rebuilding my fighter buggy with new front suspension upright onto new chassis i had one heck of a time trying to get the default Tamiya screws in, probably for this very reason! Never had issues with other rebuilds so some plastics must be tougher or have undersized holes (hence the tamiya tap )
  23. Build thread here.. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?...c=58139&hl= An excellent project, well worth the effort and imagination - a one off, that'll be admired many times over. Congratulations
  24. I bought a set of ansmann buggy wheels with pin spikes fitted lasted week. They seem very soft so I'd avoid them for use on hard ground, although at £9 for a set of wheels n tyres they are still cheap.
  25. I've started refurbing my set, one had a crack in the outer rim edge but i managed to repair that with some CA adhesive. As to the other nicks at the edges, deeper ones i 'filled' with styrene* , prior to a light sanding. Smaller nicks disappeared with the sanding. * an offcut of styrene sheet is very handy for these sorts of purposes, put some plastic magic or similar adhesive onto the sheet offcut, mix with a small paintbrush and you have a nice styrene solution, that can be painted quickly onto damaged areas. You need to be quick because the solvent loading in the adhesive is very high. Repairs are invisible once sanded back, and being white in colour present no challenge to cover with paint. Mine will be black inside and out as a base coat, with chrome finish on the outer face - all going to plan !
