Dunno. To me, this list suggests that Tamiya, unable to keep up with or even take on the world's newer, faster, meaner, mostly American, top dollar, ultra high performance grown men RC cars, is about to retreat into some fantasy world where all RCs are friendly, colorful, harmless toys.
This thing looks like they crossed the QD MB with the Mini 4WD MB, and in my book, toy + toy = toy. Yes, this is going to be fun, the kids will love it and I can see the market, but do I want one? Absolutely not.
You do realize ALL RCs are toys right?

Doesn't the re-release come with a long brass pinion like the original? If so, no worries. The brass pinions last much longer the the aluminum ones.
Shows how much I was paying attention. I'm so used to the butter soft aluminum ones in kits.

I'm hoping this is a good happy medium... all stock on 2s lipo, I wonder if it's held up to this day and how many runs are on it @Theibault
Sure has. It's funny as I have an MIP diff for it, but haven't bothered installing it as it runs fine. I just need to rebuild the shocks as they are not performing so well these days lol. I have no clue how many packs I've put through it though but it's got to be at least 40. Probably should look at the pinion as I used the stock one so I'm sure I have a gearbox full of grey goo.

As Frankie says, "Welcome to the Pleasuredome!"
"While criticized at the time of release and afterward for being a song that glorifies debauchery, the lyrics (and video) make clear that the point of the song, just as Coleridge's poem, is about the dangers of this kind of lifestyle." -- Source
So I used to use a sample of that song as the outro to my videos. "Shooting stars never stop, even when they reach the top." until they started taking my revenue for the 20 seconds used lol. Sad as I always equated the shooting stars line with the Tamiya logo in my head.
PS, Steady, when you get a chance, let's see some pics of any cars you may have.

Anyone catch the awesome driver name? Jumptastic Jas is what I make out. Gotta love the great Tamiya driver line ups lol.

I'm partial to the Jimny. Here's mine and some actual rally liveries.

I hope they still include a Willy head with it. If not, Willy will be going in mine lol.

I use those all the time with crawlers and trail rigs. Good servo for the money. I prefer the 13Kg one for all my normal cars and buggies.

I don't use them so they get binned. Not trying to be all about the "RC Hoarder" life.

You could always buy these if the above looks good to you. They have the fronts in 26mm and rears in 31mm.

Nice build! It's coming together well. I am currently doing the Lancia with the tub chassis.

These are extremely pricey but this is what I would go with.

@thiebault quote"In particular all of the fun wheelie and now comical releases are really to pander to the Japanese market as example. "
What you call pandering I am envious of watching all the fun races on youtube they have in Japan with all the different Tamiya cars including the comical series. I race occasionally and get bore with copy the latest guys set up sheet with the latest factory wonder car. They seem to have more fun over there. Could also just be because I don't understand a word of it watching on youtube but either way it's good business sense for them.
You seem to misconstrue my use of the word pander. I happen to be one of the biggest proponents of the Wheelie and Comical vehicles. My point is that Tamiya cater only to the Japanese market.

Here is another one of my old HPIs in dire need of restoration. This is my original Nitro RS4 Racer. It has all the hop ups HPI had out for it at the time. It's powered by an OS .12 CV engine. As you can see, the last time it was driven, it was in a crash. I am in need of the 2 spurs for the 2 speed and a front bumper. Everything else is in great (albeit very dirty) shape. This car means a lot as the engine on this chassis is probably one of the last few engines Ron Paris worked on (I had an older engine on this chassis that was replaced by this in the summer of 2001). I sent this engine to him and he did his magic. A couple days after receiving it, I learned he had past away that first week of Oct in 2001. If I ever find the parts, this car will get a full restore. Until then, I still have my fond memories of running this great car.

CR01 worth the money?
in General discussions

The CR-01 is very capable if set up right. It's my second favorite crawler besides my extremely modified Axial SXC-10 II. The best thing you should do first is throw away the garbage Tamiya tires and put a good set of 2.2 crawler tires on. Don't really need to do much more other than go have fun on a trail.
