I'm a Kyosho fan and love building unique custom-built Optimas.
  1. Wow, I got an answer from an eBay seller before a Tamiya forum guru. In response to my own question, the distance between the arms upper & lower "arms" is ~23mm and the suspension pin holes are as I might've guessed, about 2.5mm.
  2. Hi guys, I'm working on a custom build based on a Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid SE outfitted with a number of nice alloy hop-up parts by Tamiya. The front C-carriers for the TA05 look like they'd be perfect. I need to know a few specs so I'll know if these will accept my steering knuckles and hinge-pin onto my suspension arms. If you're interested in checking out this mutt build, the progress is here: http://www.rc10talk....hp?f=30&t=30216 Can someone please measure the distance *inside* the top & bottom arms of the "C"? I'm hoping they're somewhere between 16 and 23 or so millimeters to be able to fit some knuckles I have that are around 15mm tall. Also, are the hinge pin holes at the bottom 3mm in diameter? I was surprised to discover a lot of 1:10 cars have 2.5mm suspension pins instead of 3mm. Here's a pic of what I'm thinking of buying, but I imagine it has the same specs as the stock TA05 C-hubs. Many thanks in advance! (Link to actual item on eBay) http://www.ebay.ca/itm/3-Racing-Frount-Aluminum-C-Hub-For-Tamiya-TA05-/150968040040?pt=US_Radio_Control_Control_Line&hash=item2326657a68
  3. Gentlemen, I'm working on a resto-mod project and having a hard time finding axles to work. At a glance, and from discussing with other people, it would seem that Part #9808039 might work out. I'm sure many of you have built these re-re's and would greatly appreciate if someone could break out the calipers and get some measurements for me! They seem to have a 5mm shaft diameter, that much is known. I need to know the total length (A), dogbone cup diameter ( , and length from cross-pin hole to the end of the shaft, about where the threads start. Thanks very much, your help is greatly appreciated!
  4. So you found an inexperienced seller (only 7 feedback) that somebody (the same 2 bidders bid on both wheel sets) scored a great deal off of. Not sure if that proves a point...and certainly doesn't invalidate the eBay link I shared previously. From those links, it's apparent that Tamiya will be re-re'ing these cars...nowhere did I see a price, and nowhere did I see proof when or if wheels will be sold separately, let alone "cheap as chips". Either way, I guess you'll have to wait until sometime 2012 to find out exactly what Tamiya will sell a gold-plated re-re wheel set for. Thanks for the info.
  5. No problem with your comment. If you're referring to this: eBay completed listing for FOX wheels Those are *used* FOX wheels, not Hotshot wheels, which are much more rare. They aren't mint, new-in-package, never-opened...they're used and abused. Hardly a basis for comparison. I did searches of completed listings myself and the last set of used, great condition (not NIP) gold Hotshot wheels sold for almost 70 pounds. Furthermore, every Fox sold had gold wheels; not so for the Hotshot. Almost *no* Hotshots were sold with gold wheels. It was a rare hop-up part. (I did my research.) There's a guy out there buying plain white repro wheels and plating them gold, he's selling those for quite a bit less too...but those--again--aren't an unopened, NIP set of ORIGINAL gold Hotshot wheels from decades ago. In fact, I think you might want to look at THIS eBay listing that recently ended, for a more valid comparison: Gold NIP Hotshot wheels I guess if they were no longer rare, eBay would show several hits for "gold hotshot"...but alas, almost nothing turns up. Nothing.
  6. Lots of views but no responses, yet. I'd rather avoid taking this to eBay but I know it would fetch a nice price, considering the rarity of the wheels. I doubt many NIP examples of these wheels exist anymore. If anyone here wants to put these on their shelf-queen, fire me a PM with a "reasonable" offer.
  7. Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum and my first post is a "For Sale" ad, I apologize for that--but I'm more of a vintage Kyosho freak and do most of my typing over on RC10Talk. I don't even own any Tamiyas, though my first RC car was a Frog that I'm happy to forget. I picked up these amazing, brand-new and super rare gold-plated Hotshot wheels in a RC car parts lot recently. I considered buying adapters to mount them to one of my Optimas, but asked myself, "How wrong is that?!" I also couldn't look at myself in the mirror for taking these wheels out of the package when surely there must be a Tamiya collector or enthusiast just dying for a set of these for their Hotshot/Supershot/Boomerang or whatever (I'm not entirely sure what all they will fit). The package appears unopened; the staples look original, there are no extra staple holes. 3 of the wheels look to be in immaculate condition. One of the rears, however, appears to have a plating defect, a wavy line through the plating. This doesn't appear to be a scratch because the plastic bag in that area is intact, so my assumption is it's a plating defect. I've researched these wheels so I know what they've sold for in the past (and how rare it is to find a set in an unopened package), and it also appears that Tamiya's plating quality was hit & miss, anyway. I tried to capture the plating issue with one of the pictures without opening the bag, for full disclosure. Since few people here will know me, my eBay I.D. is coe1acanth, where I have 100% positive feedback and hundreds of transactions. My I.D. is Coelacanth over at RC10Talk.com, I have a spotless record there too. Feel free to look me up. I'm asking $125 for these, plus shipping. Payment by Paypal. Shipping should be $15 or so anywhere within Canada/USA, maybe $5 more internationally. I'll charge whatever actual shipping costs. If you want expedited or insured/tracked, that's your choice. Thank you for looking, hope these will go to a good home!
