Any Aussies In Qld Keen For A Bash?
yogi-bear replied to Grandmasterflash's topic in Meetings & Events
Cheers, I think it will just fit, its about 1 to 2 mm bigger than the battery I bought. I'll man up and bring the Wild Willy 2 out for drive next time too. it was good to catch up again -
yeah, they did come out well

looking good. That catalog page is a great find, and interesting to see the Mitsubishi jeep in red as well

that should fix most of your z-axis issues and probably the easiest thing to do. That and tramming. I would think after doing those two, if the z-axis is still out, something like the frame could be slightly bent or twisted. Yeah, I would be wary of that, more so for the machine than the material you are cutting. Do you have limit switches installed? My concern would be around an errant command that sends the spindle somewhere it should be. But if you have limit switches, that will reduce a lot of potential damage. The other thing you'd have to be careful about is if the part comes off as its machining. I've also had on random occasions noise enter the data line and that has caused random movements, hopefully I have that issue fixed now as I have recently re-wired my machine with shielded cable. the more you do, the better you will get, and keep posting your updates too please.

some other options I have successfully used - eucalyptus oil - orange power cleaner (citrus based cleaner) - rubbing with a thumb, boring but can work if you can't get anything - masking tape. basically applying a sticky tape to the adhesive and it peeling off, can work with some adhesive when you don't have a cleaner or want to use a solvent

2 is good, but turns out its a morning drop-off before 10 am, so really anytime will suit, and same place? I'll have a Tamtech Buggy champ to try out, so hopefully the upgraded motor and pinion will arrive in time. -

I can do the 15th, but apparently I have to take Mrs Yogi-bear to the airport around lunchtime, so maybe an afternoon session? -

Howdy, I'm keen but not this weekend or the next. After that I am good! -
good advice, my wife pestered me to get a check up 2 years ago and the dermatologist found one on my head, luckily also at the very early stages. Having watched my step mother go through chemo and radiation therapy last year, even though she was ultimately cleared, its something you will want to avoid as even in the best of cases its can be pretty unpleasant. I was also add, as there are a lot of guys here, get your bowel cancer/prostrate check up too, especially if you are over 50.

pricing vintage stuff is always hard. I am after one of these, and I nearly bought one. It had been listed for about $800 AUD and eventually went for high $500 AUD after several months. I would have bought it, but didn't have the spare cash at the time. That also brings the question how quickly do you want to sell it. A higher price will usually take longer. If you are after maximising your return, then sell the parts tree separately. And you may have tried this, but you can search ended/finished eBay listings to see what has sold prior, not too sure how far back you can go though. I think it will come down to you picking a value that seems fair to you and then if it doesn't sell you may have to revise. If it sells in an instant, then maybe you were too cheap!

well I'm still keen on getting one after watching that. And the race at the end looked like the slowest race ever!

well, there is one other option, but its certainly not for everyone, in that you scratch build it. With today's availability of 3D software and printers, while it's a challenge it's certainly very do-able for you to make every part. This is what I am doing with the Marui Mitsubishi Jeep. It was in their catalogue , but never released, so no chance of getting one, but with the help of @silvertriple (he 3D modelled the parts) I am building this to be a kit. I will make every part, and intend on machining the gears (I've never done that before either, so that will be a positive learning experience!) as well as all the packaging, a manual etc so it would be as you would have bought it back in the day and then make one that drives. I have a first version of most of the parts, plus I've made up artwork and printed a test box. Granted this is a pretty big project, but in saying that, if you get part of kit, there is a the possibility of finishing it off with 3D printed parts at least.

if you don't get any takers locally, I've happy to print some, but it'll probably take me a couple of weeks. I have some of these cars to restore one day, so happy to do a batch.

not exact, but there is a set of generic Tamiya F1 mirror on Thingiverse, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2787758 you would just need someone to print them for you, resin print if you can, they'll be a bit nicer.

yeah, thats all I do, I host my own images and just paste the url. It should automatically recognise and appear as the image after a few seconds.

I'll get there around 10 as I have to get to work by 12.30, so that will give me 2 hrs -
to me this looks to be a decent refresh of an iconic car that still keeps the original styling, I think this will be going onto my Christmas present wish list
