    Off-roading in my 1976 Bronco, remote-control aircraft, and of course...vintage r/c!
  1. Just received my Willy today! It is in great shape! Glad to see the grill is intact along with the winch. The part that keeps the windshield up against the roll bar is broken ( I can live with that). Very happy with this purchase!
  2. Thanks for the feedback and great comments! You guys are pretty **** funny! Thanks for the laughs!
  3. Hi guys! Just won this Wild Willy and it appears to be in really good condition. I have never owned one and I wanted your opinion. Do you guys see anything in the pics that will need attention when I finally receive it? Thanks!
  4. It does look a lot like the Falcon for sure!
  5. Thanks! I remember looking through the Tower Hobbies catalog back in the day and drooling over all the LeMans motors and Kyosho kits. Very glad to have an example of both today to enjoy!
  6. After a summer having an "affair" with my other hobby (RC aircraft), I decided to build my Icarus. I think it is a neat looking buggy, much better than the Bandido/Pegasus. So far, it has been a fun build! It has a few quirks, like "bendy" plastic suspension hinge points and plastic driveshafts/outdrives. Thanks for looking!
  7. Chris, I couldn't find pics of the 1:1 in this particular scheme. Seems most of his trucks had "Budweiser" or "General Tire" above the "Nissan" on the sides. Guess mine will be different!
  8. Woo-hoo! Just put the finishing touches on the Super Champ! Thanks to those of you who followed the transformation! Much appreciated!
  9. Getting close to finishing the Super Champ build and I am thinking I might start this one next. Just received this in the mail today and it is going to be a King Cab using a ***** body, some vintage Autographics decals, and new wheels. The tires are in very good shape and will be reused. Overall, the chassis is in great condition, complete with Thorp axles in the rear.
  10. Thank you very much! Tonight I worked on the lights and started the driver. Also painted the dash. So glad for the re-re Buggy Champ which enabled me to source these parts cheaply. Here is the dash. i used a method I use on my static plastic models and put a drop of "Future" floor coating in each bezel to give the look of glass: Started the driver: And the lights!:
  11. Thanks a bunch mongoose! The netting is a perfect fit. Now I have 10 feet of it! :-) The decals are original and I am always amazed that these old Tamiya are still usable after all these years! Quality!
  12. Thanks Shodog! I think I'll keep the tires as is for a bit. I kinda like the look of them! I had to find a substitute for the kit netting as the kit supplied stuff is long gone. I went to my local craft store and found some floral netting for a few bucks, cut it out per instructions and used masking tape to surround the netting. I think it worked pretty well!
  13. Much appreciated! Productive day today! Finished applying the decals and only have the lights/driver left to do. One of my better decaling experiences. This buggy truly is a classic!
  14. Broke out the airbrush this morning and painted the roll cage and side vents. Also cleaned up/polished the roof. Hopefully some decaling tonight! I agree! The SC needs to have its proper body shell on it. They are just so delicate! Thanks!
  15. Thanks guys! I hope to paint some details tomorrow then on to decals! This is the ultrasonic cleaner I use. It really is worth it! Sometimes I might have to follow up with a toothbrush to get in the nooks and crannies but the old grease and grime comes right off! Works great for metal and plastic parts. http://www.harborfreight.com/25-liter-ultrasonic-cleaner-95563.html
