  1. So this is a bit random, but I was wondering if you had any of the original Desertwolf wheel hexes with a part number of MV29070, or even HPI 86925? The 17mm hexes I bought for the Desertwolf fit, but not very well and had to bodge a fix to get them to fit properly. Unfortunately, they are the only ones I can find.. quite literally in fact. I've searched high and low for alternative 17mm hexes but none seem to exist anywhere in the world. So if per chance you had at least 4 original hexes (I think they're black) then that would be great! If not... any idea where I might be able to find some??

OK, I have an Absima CR6S transmitter, bound to several Etronix ET162 receivers, that are identical to the Absima R6WP receivers (just rebranded Etronix) and I'm trying to find out if they have a fail safe, and how to set it up (if it has one). The manual states it does have, and I quote "With brake and fail safe out-of-control protection function" ...and that's it. It doesn't mention anything about the fail safe function. All that happens when signal is lost is the servo resets back to centre. I have found out that if you press the button on the Absima / Etronix receiver 3 times, the LED changes from green to a yellow. And if you then press the button once, it flashes red then back to yellow again. There is nothing about this in the manual, nor is there anything... ANYTHING... when I Google search. It's almost like no-one has EVER asked this question, nor has it been documented anywhere. So does anyone out there know IF the Absima / Etronix receivers have a fail safe and if so, HOW do you set it up? I want to have the brakes applied when it loses signal. Please and thank you!
  3. No problem. Yeah, I'll have to do the rear driveshaft upgrade as well at some point, it might actually eliminate the need for the rubbing tubing in the outdrive. So, currently need new wheels and the rear drive shaft upgrade... I need to win the lottery at this point, lol. It is odd about the E-Clips. I bought the size listed in the DesertWolf parts list, but still wouldn't fit completely without me bending them in a little. Hopefully, they won't pop off when the diff is spinning! Yeah, I've also bought the steer spur gear for the FTX diff, but I'm not going to install it until the standard plastic one breaks. so it'll be a future upgrade if anything. As for the screw stripping. That was annoying. Thankfully there's enough tightness to keep the diff closed. I did put a very small dab of CA glue on the end of the screw, and screwed it in so the glue lightly coated the thread. Should keep it from unscrewing, but still be able to break the glue if needed.
  4. Both Modelsport parts are correct. Not sure about the pinion. It SHOULD fit, since it's also an FTX part, so the pitch of the teeth should match the spur. I had to use a pinion with a 5mm bore, since the motor I bought had a thicker shaft (snigger) so I bought an Arrma pinion which fits. But the FTX pinion you linked should fit with the FTX spur. I can't see why it shouldn't. As for the movement in the rear drive shaft. I just put a small piece of rubber tubing in the rear drive cup, which seems to have helped. And for other parts you might need? The only thing I can think of is possibly some E2.5mm E-Clips to secure the Maverick outdrives to the diff. Since the Maverick outdrives are bigger than the FTX ones, they need bigger clips. I bought some according to the Maverick manual. They fit but aren't very tight. So might need to squeeze the clips closed a little before putting them on.
  5. It was proving difficult, but yeah.. I finally managed to find one that fit! Every time I came across a diff, I'd find the model it was made for, find an exploded diagram, find the measurements of the diff and bearings. NONE I found fit, except the FTX Zorro. Huzzah! They came out that long ago? Virtually vintage at this point, lol. Well maybe not.. but still rare and hard to find nowadays. Kinda surreal seeing the Desertwolf brand new in that cabinet, in that video. We both have a piece of history, haha. Yeah, running a 3S might cause something to explode spectacularly, lol. Shame I bought a 3S that I no longer need. Only my Traxxas Rustler can use it, but it already has one. But yes, you should be correct.. if the original ESC was rated for 3S, you'd think it would be able to handle that power. Not sure if you've seen my Part 7 yet, the quick run... but make sure you do up the wheel nuts tightly... Oh dear, that's unfortunate. Not sure if the FTX Zorro spur gear will fit.   6. Haha, yeah... the centre diff was basically the be-all and end-all of the restoration. It would have been the only thing stopping it. Thankfully, after many, MANY days of looking at tons of centre diffs, I found one that fits. I think I also had to get a different pinion gear as well, as the diff uses a Mod1 type spur gear. Your Timberwolf now runs 3S? Good luck with that, lol. I tried 2S on the Desertwolf and it flew. I'm too scared to try 3S... feels like I'm going to break something! And good idea stocking up on some spare parts while they're still available. You never can tell when they'll suddenly be out of stock... everywhere... forever...
  7. Hi! Well, the restoration is actually coming along quite nicely. Got a load of parts for the chassis from Wheelspin Models, and a new unpainted body shell. Also a bunch of (very expensive!) electronics from Modelsport UK. And as for the centre diff? Was a little difficult, but I found one that fits. It's from the FTX Zorro and it fits perfectly. I did have to replace the outdrives with some Maverick ones, as the FTX ones were too small. Once I installed the Maverick outdrives, it all fit. I was struggling to get a centre-front drive shaft, so in the end I got the front CV joint upgrade. Will also get the rear one at some point as well.   8. Hi all.. I recently acquired a Tamiya Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R body shell (the Super Street decal version). It's in pretty decent condition, needs some paint touch-ups... but also needs some decals replacing. I've searched everywhere I can, but no websites have these available. Not even any on eBay. I was only able to find site, in Germany, but they don't ship outside to the UK.   11. Well... finally received the parts from Wheelspin. Good news is the FTX centre diff fits... but.. the bad news is that the drive cups are too small for the Maverick centre drive shafts. After al that, at this point, I think I might have to call it quits. Without a centre diff, it can never be repaired, and this FTX diff is the ONLY one I was able to find that actually fit properly. Still cannot find an original Maverick DesertWolf diff. I did have the idea of buying some Maverick differential outdrive cups and see if they'll fit in the FTX diff, to replace the small cups. But since I can't be sure it'll fit, I don't want to spend more money on it.. having already forked over £140+ just in parts for the chassis. So the restoration... Time Of Death... earlier today. Such a shame.
  12. Sorry for the late reply, TamiyaClub didn't notify that I had any replies! Honestly, I'd never even heard of the DesertWolf until someone showed me a picture. Then just asked me "Want it?" and I'm like "Give now" ...and here we are. I've searched eBay for DesertWolf parts, but all I can find is a pre-painted body shell, and a clear body shell. That is literally all there is. I was able to find a good amount of parts on Wheelspin Models, but most parts where Shadow Stock, delivery expected 1-2 weeks. Already been 9 days, but I'm hoping they'll be dispatched soon and I'll see how far I can take the repairs. Wheelspin also had a centre diff for an FTX, but it LOOKS the right size for the DesertWolf, also uses the same size bearings either side... so fingers crossed this diff fits. If not, I feel as though the restoration is gonna be an early Game Over. And you think the DesertWolf and TimberWolf use almost the same parts? I'll have to look into that, might get lucky!
  13. Me again! Not about tyres this time though. Something a lot more challenging! I recently came into procession of a Maverick DesertWolf 1/8 scale buggy. It needs many parts, most of which I have found on Wheelspin Models (though most of them are Shadow Stock). The electrics, I hope, are pretty universal and can get them anywhere, but I'd like to get the car in a state where it'll actually run once the electrics are installed. So far, the one thing that has eluded me after hours of looking is the centre diff. Wheelspin has some of the parts to rebuild it, but the main spur gear is pretty much extinct at this point. I'm reaching to everyone and anyone to see if anyone has complete Maverick DesertWolf centre diff. Can't really add a photo of the buggy right now as it's too dark, and not sure if I can edit posts to add the photo. If not, I'll add a reply. If anyone does indeed have one, please do get in touch!   14. Not sure about RCJaz, 6 reviews on Trustpilot, 5 negative. They're based in Hong Kong but use a UK web domain, which is a little misleading. I do trust JK though, bought many things from them on eBay. Front tyres seem to be everywhere, rear tyres are like gold dust apparently. I'm after the Blitzer tyres specifically, but I might end up trying any other 2.2" tyres if I can't find them. I currently already have some Schumacher tyres on my Aqroshot, but they are quite big and chunky. So looking for smaller, lighter tyres.

  17. Hi and hello.. I'm looking for 3 pairs of the Tamiya 54603 Monster Truck Spiked Tyres. The same tyre that you find on the Pumpkin/Lunchbox but spiked. I cannot for the life of me find ANY in stock in the UK whatsoever, and those outside the UK are quite pricey, and shipping costs are wacko. The tyres don't need to be brand new or anything, but do need to be in one piece, in good condition... as in, no cracks, rips etc. Not really sure of what my highest price would be, so open to suggestions from anyone who may have at least 3 pairs... or 6 in total as another way to put it... and I'll see if my budget can accommodate.   18. Even though the steering is jittery in the THR Ch2 channel, the forward/reverse movement is not (when in THR Ch2). It's super smooth with no juddering. I should try to get a second receiver so I can test. If the same thing happens, maybe it's a faulty transmitter instead.   19. Well, throttle DOES work with the wheel when plugged into STR. With the steering plugged in THR, that also works.. it is very jittery, but it does steer with the trigger. No second Rx in order to test though. However, an interesting discovery. I've tried the receiver in 6 different Tamiya's, with varying ESCs, including Tamiya, HobbyWing (brushed and brushless) and an old unknown branded one. It fails to work in FIVE of them. It works in my Konghead, which currently has a Traxxas XL-5 ESC installed. For some reason, calibration worked and can control the throttle with the trigger as I'm supposed to. If calibration worked with the ESC's, it might start working properly. But without a "go" signal, there's no calibration, therefore no throttle. EDIT: Also decided to test this in my Traxxas Rustler 4x4 VXL. Interesting... it works perfectly. So both the Rustler and Konghead have one thing in common: they both use Traxxas receivers. A VXL-3 and an XL-5. So why is the Spektrum only working on Traxxas ESC's? Very peculiar.
  20. OK, so I purchased this transmitter and receiver from an eBay seller who had removed it from his recently purchased Big Rock. It was sold as "For Parts or Not Working" so no refund, but at the same time the seller was unsure whether he was doing anything wrong when it came to binding the transmitter and receiver. As it turns out, he may very well have been doing it correctly, as something does seem faulty somewhere. I have it binded to the SLR300 receiver no problems. Steering works no problem, as do the steering adjustments. Throttle however... is a literal no-go. There is no response from the throttle at all. When I turn on the ESC (HobbyWing QuicRun 1080) it blinks, usually indicating no transmitter signal, but steering does work. It appears that the transmitter is not sending any signal from the throttle, so the ESC doesn't initiate fully, except the steering. I've tried calibrating the ESC, but since it's not receiving a "go" signal, calibration doesn't work. I've taken the transmitter apart (since I can't return it or get it replaced under warranty) and I can't see anything obvious. No components are damaged, burnt, missing (I think), the circuit board is undamaged, pretty much nothing out of the ordinary. I know the trigger potentiometer works as I was able to test it on the steering, so the issue lies from the connector on the board to... where ever it goes after that. Also, the ESC works fine with other receivers, and the SLR300 won't work with other speed controllers in other cars. I CAN get the throttle to work if I use the AUX buttons for forward and backward, but that's not really useful. So the ESC is definitely working with the receiver to some capacity, but the throttle channel is just... dead. It COULD be the receiver I suppose, but I don't have any means of testing, without buying another receiver or transmitter. So I've run out of ideas, after trying for a good 3-4 hours fault finding... I found no obvious faults. Google isn't very helpful as it just loves to omit the word "SLT3" a lot. Does anyone have any clues? Any ideas? Any thoughts? Even a spare receiver you wish to get rid of. Any help is a good thing. Please and thank you!
  21. I did indeed try to calibrate the ESC, I did it several times to make sure but it still has issues when going into reverse. I threw a HobbyWing 1060 in there quickly, just to test and it reverses just fine.. all the time, every time. So it seems there's something about the TBLE-04S that's isn't quite right, at least for mine. I've never actually had an 02S fail on me yet, and I'm had plenty of them. Granted, they usually get replaced by a HW 1060 (although those are getting replaced soon as well!) but the cars that I run the 02S in have never gone bad. But I do hope the 04S isn't having that issue.. I like the new ESC and was hoping to keep it in the Escort, but it seems I'm stuck with the HW 1060 for now, unless I slap an 02S in there instead.
  22. I recently acquired the new Ford Escort Custom, that comes with the new TLBE-04S ESC. I've just taken it out for it's first run since I built it, and noticed that reverse seemed to be very hit and miss. It'll brake immediately, so there's no problems there. But it won't go into reverse after moving the stick down a second time. I have to to this a few times until eventually it does start to reverse. I can see the green LED on the ESC blink when it receives the reverse signal, so it's definitely detecting reverse, but it simply struggles to start reversing. I temporarily attached a TBLE-02S to the receiver, and it worked fine. Granted I forgot to test it on the floor, when the motor would have had resistance, but it still went into reverse every time. And yes, the battery was fully charged, before anyone asks. And alsoyes, reverse is enabled in the ESC settings. No idea if this new ESC is faulty, and I doubt this can be normal behaviour. I'm guessing not to many people have one of these yet, since the Escort Custom was the first kit to include it. But does anyone have any ideas why reverse is a bit of gamble as to when it works? Please and thank you!

  24. As per the title, I am after a set of 4 Pro-Line Dirt Hawg II 2.2in tyres (below), or a set of 4 Pro-Line Trencher T 2.2 Truck Tyres, for my Tamiya Aqroshot. I do know these fit the Aqroshot wheels as I've seen several photos of these tyres attached to the standard Aqroshot wheels, and I would like to upgrade the current tyres as they very little traction, pretty much on any surface. I originally purchased some Schumacher Stagger Rib tyres, that was I was led to believe would fit after reading several (other) RC forums, but unfortunately they do not fit at all as the diameter of the inner side of the tyre is far too large (I didn't know this, as I had not seen a single photo showing both sides of the tyre). So if anyone has 4 of these tyres, in good condition, they don't have to be brand new, let me know. Would prefer a UK location, but will consider anywhere in Europe as long as the price is right! Let me know what you'd like for them and we'll try to come sort of arrangement! Please and thank you!
  25. I have an HW1060 with the same issue. It goes into limp mode after a short amount of running time... and by short, I mean less than a minute. Turning it off then on again resets the ESC and it works at full speed, for another minute or so. It's definitely the ESC, I've tried it in two different cars with different motors of varying turn speeds and it has the same result. I'm considering buying the capacitor module (or maybe two, just in case) as I've just bought another HW1060, not opened yet... so hopefully I won't have a second dodgy one. One of the motors was a new 15t (HPI Firebolt) and the other was an old 21t (unknown) and the HW1060 is capable of up to (or down to?) 12t... so I'm pretty convinced here that the ESC is definitely at fault.
