  1. Oh yes - and the SRBs have "Special Racing Buggy" imprinted in the top of the radio box cover. I think this is why some people don't consider the Super Champ to be a SRB - it doesn't have the radio box.
  2. The 3-Speeds have manual gear selection. You need a 3rd channel to change gear on the move. You can manually set the gear if you only have a 2 ch radio.
  3. Personally I don't care for avatars, sigs or any unnecessary clutter in forums. I come here to read interesting stuff, and would rather not have to hunt for the words (old-age, failing eyesight and all that). I think your showroom is where you can show-off.
  4. Get a scrap of lexan or any plastic sheet. Cut it to a fat "I" shape (about 20mm wide). Poke a small hole on each end and thread the antenna wire through one hole. Wind the excess wire around making a flat coil (not overlapping) until you have the right length, and poke the free end through the other hole to secure it. You can actually buy plastic things to do this.
  5. I have traded with quite a few non-members. It's been all good so far. I usually ask if they are an ebay user and check their feedback there to get an idea of their trustworthiness.
  6. I bought a second-hand TXT that had twin Magnetic Mayhems and a Traxxas EVX installed. I had run it for a while thinking it was doing pretty well when it came to a halt with the motors just making whirring noises. When I took it apart I found loose pinions, but worse - I found that it had one foward, and one reverse mayhem! Fortunately the reverse motor had never had the pinion tight - there was no sign of wear on it. (And no, the reverse motor was not wire to run "backwards"). These trucks go pretty well on one Mayhem.
  7. I have a Toyota Celica Gr.B running a Dynatech 01R, and a Futaba MC210CB ESC. Fully ball-raced. Goes like a rocket. You can see it here: http://www.tcphotos.com/showroom_model.asp...93&secid=154&t=
  8. I have a 1981 MRC catalogue with the "Baja Buggies" - RR and SS, also the Holiday Buggy, Can Am Lola, Datsun 280ZXS, Martini MK22 Renault and the March 782 BMW. Also the Sherman, Leopard A4 and Gepard. You can see some (bad) pics here: http://www.tcphotos.com/showroom_model.asp...93&secid=306&t=
  9. I have an MRC Radio Control Products catalogue from 1981 that has a piece that states the RR is "modeled on the Funco that Bob Maynard used to race, and is accurate right down to the decals and the correct Sand-blaster tyres." It goes on to say "We are not sure whose Baja Bug the Sand Scorcher, as Tamiya calls that model, is modeled on...".
  10. Here they are: http://www.tcphotos.com/showroom_model.asp...93&secid=180&t=
  11. Hitec Aristocraft. Looks like parts for the Kangaroo or Dolphin or similar cars. I have a Kangaroo for sale, and another chassis that is missing those front end parts you have there. You can see them here: http://www.tcphotos.com/getuserimage.asp?t...005120446_1.jpg
  12. I think I have a nib set of Striker wheels somewhere. Send me a mail and I'll see if I can dig them out.
  13. Hey Dee, I had the same problems stripping my King Hauler. I used oven cleaner (caustic) and then brake fluid for a while, and then washed it off and used oven cleaner again. See here: http://www.tcphotos.com/showroom_model.asp...93&secid=304&t= And here: http://www.tcphotos.com/showroom_model.asp...93&secid=304&t=
  14. I definitely need one set (I knew I would regret selling my spare set!), and possibly one or two more depending on price. Cheers, Don.
  15. Somewhat related to this - When you first post a model in your showroom it apears on the home page and has "new" beside the listing for the first day or so. This way we know that there is something new to look at. It would be handy to be able to post a "project" and then each time you updated it, have some sort of notification appear somewhere to let others know that new pics have been posted. As it stands no-one will know unless they regularly search back through old postings, or the owner makes a new separate posting in their showroom. I know a lot of people make multiple postings for the one model "project" as it progresses. Pehaps a "Projects" section could be justified on the basis that their very nature means that they are changing all the time. Most other models stay the same. Does that make sense?
  16. The 56005 does have the separate motors driving each track - not the clutch system. You can fit it out to take the battle system, but you need to get one of the newer DMD/multifunction units as well. The cost of these parts can make it uneconomic unless you get lucky.
  17. Well my Cheetah has the short motor mount and a black-end motor. The undercover is missing. Don't know if this helps. Love those rotarys! I'm suprised that Tamiya didn't do one.
  18. I have an original XR311 with long-eared motor mount, white endbell and white undercover. You can see here: http://www.tcphotos.com/showroom_model.asp...93&secid=154&t= Also has an interesting early ESC. I'll have to uncover my Cheetah and see what that has.
  19. 1- TAMIYA SAINT DRAGON (2WD) 2- SONIC FIGHTER 3- COX BANDITO 4- TAMIYA MANTA RAY 5- NICHIMO LUMINOUS 6- TAMIYA FIGHTER BUGGY 7- TAMIYA "THUNDER" 4WD SERIES 8- TAMIYA STRIKER 9- TRAXXAS TRX-1 10 - HI-TEC / ARISTOCRAFT KANGAROO I'll try to unearth my Bandito and take a pic, if the lense doesn't crack first.
  20. I just received a couple of notifications of replies to topics I subscribed to. When I click on the link I get: Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000b' Division by zero /forum/topic.asp, line 349 However I can get back into the forums from the TC homepage.
  21. Harder compound might wear better I suppose. It's more likely to be that they will stay on the Ceptor rims better though. The old 3-piece rims locked the tyres on, whereas the Ceptors just sit there like a Touring car wheel/tyre. I just had another go at sending an invoice! Cheers, Don.
  22. If those 915s were from a Wild Ceptor then it might explain why they were hard to fit. The Ceptor tyres that I have seem to be made from a harder compound than the original 915s.
  23. Hmmmm..... at a quick count I find that I have owned and/or still own at least 26 of these "ugly" cars. I think I need help! And no.... I'm not going to sell my Cox Bandido.
  24. Excuse my ignorance, but what's the rwd?
  25. It's always a good idea to get into the habit of unplugging the battery on any car when you finish for the day. Faults can occur in any electrical component.
