  1. Thanks all for your input. Managed to source a NIP Blitzer Beetle set on the bay for sensible money. Have to say, I do like what OSR has done with the Blitzer, hmmmm......
  2. Hey all. Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative non Tamiya wheels that will replace the standard Stadium Blitzer wheels? The rear is relatively easy as standard 2.2" 12mm hex truck size, but alternative for the front that use tamiya type axles is confusing me somewhat! cheers!
  3. This is RIDICULOUSLY awesome!!!!!! I have been considering what to try for my next project over last couple of weeks (first attempt at a proper scale type model). Initially I was avoiding buggies as not that interested but having seen this and also Skottomans wicked FAV scorcher, I reckon the FAV/Shark Attack could be a brilliant start to see how I get on (the CC01 on my shelf can have a reprieve for a while). Thanks for the inspiration guys!
  4. No cars, but how cool is this................ and in tip top condition! The 80's called, they want their shop back
  5. The wonders of not wasting paint! Lol! Have no idea how the box drives on those wheels/tyres as only taken it around house, but am happy with look so will prob get the oil shocks on to fin the job and go for it. Yeah, not convinced about the greenbull (good name) yet myself
  6. Whilst still deciding what project to do next, I spent a few hours tinkering at the dining room table today with bits I had (plus a quick theft from my Stadium Blitzer). What are the thoughts and opinions of you guys on these chaps: Lunchbox with Blizer Wheels and Pro-lines (needs a clean...): Super Madbull - basically Super Hornet with Lunchbox wheels, currently this is a mock up as the suspension is not bolted together and there are no steering arms or electrics, just trying to get a feel of whether this is go or no go....
  7. Def want an interesting build with an ability to hop up/customise as I fancy, otherwise pretty open to ideas! Likey to run on grass, maybe trialsand some sand. I do have a cc01 already that I have some ideas for.
  8. Brilliant!! Still confused.com though!!! WW def winning at the moment....
  9. Hey all, after all the good responses and advice to fix my boredom with the hobby, I am now melting my brain for what my winter build/project will be. To many choices! Excluding tanks, on road trucks and buggies, (and the Bruiser as that is just tooooo expensive), if you could chose one current kit (including non tamiya if you must!), what one would you chose for an interesting build experience but also lots of potential for tweaks and personalisation? cheers all.
  10. What a fantastic response in such a short time! Awesome! Some really good ideas and thoughts, which have helped me (and probably others) put a plan together. 1. Going to box up those items that I really have no interest in at the moment and put them in storage rather than sell anything so they will not be sat there annoying me! (That will be the Madcap, M05, maybe the Hornet and an Losi MRC I have hanging about), pending any inspiration. 2. Spend some time planning suitable projects - either based on current remaining vehicles OR possible a more challenging new build 3. Then onto one of my favourite pastimes (to much teasing from my better half) of researching what parts and stuff I need and where to get them! 4. Post Xmas, spend some cash and on with the projects! Its winter, so I will cross the bridge of getting into running things come the spring. Sounds like a plan!
  11. I am sure many of you must have suffered with this dilemma before. I have built up a nice little collection over the last couple years - Lunchbox, Stadium Blitzer, CC01, M05, plus a couple of restos I have been toying with; Super Hornet and Madcap. TBH, I have always enjoyed the build more than the running and enjoy tinkering/light modding (not helped by a lack of a local 'scene' to get involved with or decent places to run that are not just big expanses of grass), however I have got to the point where I have really lost interest. I really enjoy scanning the forum and the showrooms and love some of the work you guys do and the dedication to the cause, but the spark for my own messing with the cars seems to be slowly draining :-( Any thoughts or suggestions? Really want the enthusiasm back! cheers all
  12. Any thoughts anyone?? If it helps, I will be using this as a dedicated sand vehicle........
  13. This has turned into a 'we all love our blitzers' thread! How are you getting on with the Etronix system, they seem very good value? I suppose the questions I have before heading off down the brushless route is this; I have a 15t HPI motor at the moment, if I moved over to lipo, would I notice a significant change in performance? ANd if I went the whole brushless hog with lipo, how much quicker would it actually be? ta
  14. Well, just ragged the blitzer around the garden. Huge improvement! Now, do I go the whole hog and really hop the blitzer up to create the ultimate (well kind of) tamiya basher!?!?
  15. Phase 1 is complete, already looking sweet!
  16. Apologies for being confusing. The only reason I mentioned dye'ing the wheels is because I assumed that meant they were definately nylon! I don't want to dye them, just clean the bit of rubber and glue off and I know nylon is ok with acetone!
  17. I'm 99% sure as have seen then dye'd, however before I break out the acetone to clean of left over glue and bits of tyre rubber, can anyone confirm? thanks
  18. Decision made! The blitzer is to be upgraded. Stage 1 is truck size proline dirt works on route to increase clearance. 13t pinion and 15t motor in. Next is to upgrade rear cups and bones and add dt02 turnbuckles. Then, iif feeling brave, brusless upgrade. :-)
  19. Okay, first sorted as have found associated ball diff grease! Will look at the chain wax also.
  20. OK, have spent the last several hours researching what grease to use (I seriously need to get a life!) but to be honest, without ordering the very expensive and very small tubes and only obtainable via ebay tamiya grease I am really none the wiser! All I need is: 1. A grease for plastic gears 2. A grease for filling a blitzer diff to limit the slip 3. Ball diff grease alternative 4. General use grease Obviously, if any can be combined, great! On modelsport they have the following: http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-heavy-weight-grease-30000-gear-diff-/rc-car-products/17526 Ok for filling diff? http://www.modelsport.co.uk/traxxas-silicone-grease/rc-car-products/16824 Ok for plastic gears / general use? http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ansmann-racing-high-speed-differential-grease-90g-/rc-car-products/34326 Ok for ball diff? Thanks all for sticking with those less knowledgeable!!!!
  21. Cheers guys. I thought it did not sound likely in rc car world! But hey, good to ask those in the know:-)
  22. Apologies if this is a REALLY stupid question, but following checking whether my sport tuned motors were running the correct way (i.e; following the arrow direction), I have managed to confuse myself with respect to motor connections, ESC and ultimately the diff (following doing some further research)! Here is what I have done: Starting with my super hornet, I checked the polarity of the motors using a 9v battery to confirm that indeed red is positive and black negative on the sport tuned (as expected), this was then connected to the appropriate +ve (yellow) and -ve(blue) cables on the TEU104 ESC. My spektrum receiver was then bound and everything runs exactly as expected with no need to reverse the steering or throttle. All is well. However, using the exact same connections on my lunchbox with the exact same set up, the throttle on the Tx has to be reversed (or the +ve and -ve ESC wires swapped)! Finally, on my Blitzer which uses a HPI firebolt and a Modelsport RV12 assault ESC, I have checked the motor polarity with a battery to confirm the correct direction of running, but for the ESC to drive the motor the correct way, the connections have to be reversed. Very very confusing, which then led me on to the further research where if a diff is in 'backwards' in can cause the drive to the wheels to be reversed and it can be changed by taking out the diff, reversing it, then re fitting? Is anyone able to confirm or deny this theory? and if so is it likely this is why I am having some connection confusion? thanks all!
  23. I was wondering if it came under the 'too good to be true' for the money! That is one advantage of traxxas, always easy to get bits! With respect to the type of grass, the areas I use are maintained, but definately not lawns, effectively similar to parks and the like. I am tempted to really hop up the Blitzer at the moment, just dont want to end up killing the poor thing!
