  1. Interesting on the Blitzer front. I am already running Pro Line Dirt Hawgs/Dawgs (truck on rear, buggy rear on front), is it possible to squeeze in a standard truck size 2.2 onto the narrower front wheel?
  2. Hey all, am after some opinions and thoughts. In my neck of the woods, most bashing has to be done on grass as there are limited other options. As much as I really like my Lunchbox and Stadium Blitzer, I really want to try something quick, robust and that will run happy on the green stuff, even if it isnt nice and short. The 2 ideas I have are the Maverick MT Evo S and the Traxxas Monster Jam (not Tamiya I know, but need the right tool for the job)! The Maverick in particular seems a great deal at £185. Any thoughts on these? Or is there any suggestions for the Box/Blitzer? thanks all!
  3. Okey dokey. Having rebuilt my free madcap, the only major issue is the fact the body is/was falling to bits! Discovered a full length split whilst cleaning the paint off. Sooooooooo, body will be ditched, the question is, what would be a good cheapish alternative as this buggy will be driven. Not very original, but was thinking of a Kamtic Baja Beetle type shell, any thoughts on this as a good fit (I assume it will be ok, as with the wheels off, the wheelbase and width is very close to by Stadium Blitzer). Any other suggestions for something different? cheers all
  4. Cool. I had a scan through ebay and found a king cab plate which I believe (hope!) is the same. Subsequently ordered. Following the complete strip of the chassis and rear end, all is well with the only broken item being one of the plastic tubes with a hex end that clamp the gearbox to the chassis (C3 I believe). That will be an easy fix. So, just the front to tear down and clean which hopefully will be in equally good order!
  5. I likey your rebuild! To the point and lets get driving! Any bits and bobs you have left over, please PM me, am just kicking off the strip and clean and am about to order bearings and some ball diff grease for the rebuild (had a quick look at the gearbox last night, and looks in very good condition). With respect to the metal gearbox plate, that is def on my list of wants and I THINK I have spied some on ebay, but do you know the part number? cheers!
  6. A good question! The not so good answer is dont hit anything . TBH, from what I can work out it is one of the unfortunate compromises with trying to create a scale vehicle, however the advantage at least with trial/crawler vehicles, they dont tend to be hammered around to much and tend to run high turn motors. If the Standard bumper was left on a CC01, it would look a bit daft!
  7. Lucky day! Following a bit of advertising at work for any Tamiya bits and bobs people may have and wish to sell or offload, a kindly chap contacted me to say I could have his old RC car. He couldnt remember what it was but he said I was welcome to it. So he brought in a bag and this is what it was...... The body is iffy, tho if I can get the paint off it only has minor damage. The chassis looks ok (apart from being filthy), the spur cover is missing, but other than that it seems complete. I understand that the gearbox is a weak point and can see that the motor mount is 'a bit wobbly', but the gearbox sounds ok on running, so hoping strip and bearings it should be ok! Any other useful hints and tips? I understand the madcap chassis is shared with the Astute and King Cab? cheers all!
  8. Just finished my first proper mod to my CC01. Loadsa of people cut the front brick of completely, but I wanted to keep a bit more scale so went for a half way house: I also used some ally tube to raise the kit mumper up a bit to align better with the raised body. The ally is ony 0.5mm thick and has already taken a battering, so may beef this up a bit at some point, but will see how it goes!
  9. Thanks for your input guys, a Spektrum Sr200 will be on order for my super hornet project!
  10. Just did some random searches and it appears the orange rx are air only However, have just spotted the cheaper (by £10) Spektrum SR200. However, can anyone give hints on how to connect and bind this with a Tamiya 104 ESC as there is no seperate bind socket and as we all know, the ESC battery plug needs to go somewhere? cheers!
  11. Can anyone recommend if there are alternative receivers for Spektrum Tx? I have seen Orange 6 channel receivers starting to appear on the interweb, does anyone have any info on these? http://www.orangerx.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=3&products_id=121 They seem to be aimed at planes, but assume a car makes no difference?
  12. Oh, and thanks also to TA-Mark for the response. In conclusion - No clear coat, leave steering (for now).
  13. Exactly as TA-Mark stated! I got mine from Fusion Hobbies
  14. Hey all, following some earlier posts on wheels etc, thought it was time to post some pics of the rebuild! I sorted the wheels, suspension and chassis a while back: Beefed up front end with custom turnbuckle (have since tidied the suspension a bit more) And beefed up the rear mounts with another custom link: The big problem was the knackered shell, specifically the very broken front end...... Starting point. Oh er!: Phase 2, styrene sheet shaped: Filling complete (ah, milliputt!): And Painted: Really pleased with the colour, Now I have a few questions for those more skilled than I: 1. Should I clear coat? Intent is for the car to be used as a runner, but am nervous that my hard work/luck with restoring the shell will be messed up if I laquer it. 2. I have some lexan sheet alreadt painted black that I want to use to black out the windows, any ideas for fixing it to the shell? 3. Finally (honest) the original steering rods are mega thin (am used to beefier 3mm rods on newer models), is it worth making up some 3mm rods with bigger ball connectors? This is my first ground up project I have built so I hope you all enjoy!
  15. Interesting. Do you recommend any material for cutting the chassis plates and what tools best to use? thanks
  16. The ball connectors did catch me out! However a quick improvisation with a 2mm spacer and all was ok! Maybe not perfect but fine for the bashing about use it will get. That M07 does look like a demon!
  17. Cheers all. Have taken a punt and offered £30. If he goes for it cool, if not, I shall see what else come lurking around the corner!
  18. Hey all, I have been offered a bumper box of TL01 stuff by a chap in work and he has asked for an offer before it heads for the bay. Basically it is one ball bearing'd chassis with sport tuned motor and MSC, it is pretty dirty and scratched underneath but pretty well seems complete with a scooby body with a few cracks. There is also a spare chassis with what looks like all the bits to build up to rolling status. Plus some other stuff which I dont need (Acoms 27hz Tx, clockwork charger, old battery). My ideas are one for drift project, one for cut and shut to M scale. Was thinking of offering £40 for the lot. Any thoughts or opinions? Am I extremely tight!? (oh, just had a look at pics and the tyres are knackered and the wheels pretty scratched) cheers
  19. That is sweeeet! How did you goo about shortening the wheelbase? I assume you would have made some custom links?
  20. Not confusing at all! It is mini rock crawler so wheelbase as standard is 210mm. WW body sounds interesting, was also thinking pumkin/lunchie body with M05 wheels with rally blocks. Need to think some more speed too?
  21. Hey all! Looking to start a new project, and in my head I want to do something 'Tamiya' with my Losi MRC. TBH, I find the rock crawling thing a bit dull! However it seems a shame to just sell it off if there is a fantastic project lurking there somewhere? Any ideas?
  22. Hey, been searching around the last couple days with respect to the next project I want to get into. I have an Abarth 500 bodied M05 that I really like, however I like the look more than the drive so have decided I want to convert it to Rally spec for a bit of extra fun! Of course, this means a few mods..... First the easy ones - order M05ra F parts for the different hubs, order the under body lexan guards and order some longer TC shocks. All straightforward, fairly cheap and available from our friends at Fusion. Now the bit that confuses me - Wheels! (always confuses me on RC cars......). Obviously I want rally blocks, though am not sure what the difference between 55D and 60D is (my simple logical brain assumes this is 55mm outer dia and 60mm outer dia????)? Could anyone help on that one? Also, am not sure if I can use the standard wheels I got with the original M05 kit (I'd like to as they look cool), or whether there is a subtle difference with one for the rally spec cars???????? Thanks all
  23. Has it worked...................... One down...... Two down!!!!!! Yay!!!!! Thanks for all your help!
  24. Really sorry about this making a right mess of these posts! When inserting a hosted picture, if I click on yours above, it simply expands the picture. When I click on the the one I tried it actually opens up a new window taking me to image shack. I 'm confused.........................
