  1. Had a look around the forum to find out about storing cars and have covered most issues. The only question I have, is how much of a problem is it storing cars in a potentially cold utility room(basically a single brick thickness carpeted extension with a single radiator)? During the cold snap last year it got cold enough for some of the pipes to freeze. Obviously batteries will not be left on vehicles!! cheers
  2. Or, a dead simple, stronger and easier fix to the Tamiya spring is to buy a pack of safety pins of about the right size, trim off each end, then use pliers to open them up a bit. Jobs a good 'un!
  3. Thanks, that is an excellent point though. For example, I really like the look of the TA02 F150 Re-Re, but can seem to find very little parts. Are there also any recommendations on which chassis base is best supported?
  4. OK, here is a random one. I am on the verge of getting properly addicted to Tamiya models (aaargggggggg!!!!!!). Have my Lunchbox with mucho mods and my Blitzer is following. However, before this never ending path starts to get trodden, the one thing that puts me off is spares and hop up availability in the UK. I have done lots of searching and places like Modelsport, Fusion, Wonderland etc seem to stock some bits, but never anything like Traxxas parts for example. Can anyone recommend a good source within the UK? cheers
  5. Sorry for slow reply! Managed to give the new setup on the Lunchbox a proper run, the shocks make a MASSIVE difference. Pogo pogo pogo gone, lands from jumps better, lot quieter to drive.
  6. Nothing visualy exciting, but the sport tuned black can with RW steel pinion went on this morning! Oh happy days, feels nice and quick now whilst being manageable on the tarmac Will have to get one for my lunchbox now....
  7. Hmmmm. Just pulled the motor, the RW pinion appears to spin true, however, it is definately a bit noisier than standard Tamiya. I also have a Traxxas steel pinion which also sounds noisy (interestingly, noticed a similar thread on Vintage forum). I looked at the meshing with the gearbox cover off and the RW does appear to be a ever so slightly looser fit than the original. Few observations: 1. Noise lessons when wheels are on. 2. Build quality of RW pinion looks excellent, Traxxas does look very cheap in comparison So not sure what to do now? Lots of people seem to run these pinions, so am I just being overly sensitive or am I destined for knackered gearbox or utterly butterly pinions?# Ooooooo Tamiyas can be frustrating!
  8. Hey all, at last my replacement RW steel pinion arrived for my Stadium Blitzer . Bit of a tight fit for the motor but went on with hand pressure only, so that is good. However, it does seem noisier than the standard, self lubricating (i.e soft rubbishy wear away) aluminium Tamiya pinion?!? The size I ordered was a 32dp 13t, which I believe is correct. Can anyone else comment on this as it is the first time I have replaced a pinion. Maybe some specific grease will help? cheers one and all
  9. Unfortunately, it has been horrible weather in Brizzle for the last couple days so havent fully tested yet. Have given it a fun round the house and it definately lands smoother from wheelies and the horrible rattle have mostly gone. I do also have a Parma body shell on it which has really reduced the weight, therefor it is pretty quick on the standard can.
  10. That is REALLY sweet!
  11. Hello there! That was my previous set up which def improved the stock bouncy springs. Couldnt resist proper oil damped shocks tho!
  12. Thankyou! Result! Instead of tubing, used 2 pen springs, which when combined with weight of wheels and shock spring load, gave me this : I also then found a set of Super sabre shocks for mounting on the back: Sweet, minimal cash, maximum improvement - the plasticy clatter has gone. Just need to wait for the weather for a proper test drive.
  13. Having recently got a random box of bits, there were a couple of what looked like CVA short shocks and some random springs. So, I have now mounted them on the front of my lunchbox to see what happens as the stock shocks are rubbish! It has improved the reversing squishyness significantly, and it lands from wheelies a lot better, however, when the front wheels come off the ground, the arms and wheels droop so when it lands again, the wheels end up with a large amount of positive camber. Anyone have any thoughts on this little problem? If indeed it is a problem............... cheers
  14. This is getting interesting, here is my current possible list: Axial Wraith - cos its different 1/16 VXL Slash or poss Summit - can easy chuck in a bag to take with me wherever when out walking the dog and wont worry about breaking/drowning/injuring it too much! DF03RA (Datsun/Lancia) - for something different - could I have a second set of wheels with Drift Tyres on for additional messing about?
  15. The Slash is on the shortlist as a full on hooning basher which I wont be as precious with. I do have to spend the cash on a single purchase though! No cash alternative as the saying goes
  16. Hey guys, having just got a 'loyalty' bonus at work, I have £250 (or a bit more) to spend on a single purchase, so the big question is - what do I get??????????? Current garage is : Stadium Blitzer, Lunchbox, Super Hornet (WIP) and Losi Mini Crawler. Quite happy to look at other makes, RTRs, kits, whatever, just want something fun and maybe a bit different - wos you all reckon? cheers
  17. Hey all, sooooo happy with my Blitzer, though need to make it a little bit quicker plus convetr to 2.4Ghz radio gear. I am also putting together an old (and v tired) Super Hornet for bashing. The plan is to move the silver can, 104 and old radio into this, then upgrade the Blitzer (a convenient excuse) SO, radio system choosen (Spektrum), but have no idea what a good route for BEC capable ESC and motor! Not worried about mega quick, and going to stick with NiMH for time being, so any recommendations for a good starting point without clearing the bank? The Modelsport ESC's look OK? Really interested to see responses as this is one of the best forums for these kind of posts
  18. ****, should have gone for white on mine - looks awesome, especially with black wheels!! Def get a Parma shell for running, my poor original body has lots of battle scars now. Funny how even when it rolls on nice soft grass, it always finds a bit or concrete to finish off on............
  19. Hey Max Power, those wheels look awesome! They look very much like Blitzer wheels with Pro-Line Dirt Works? If so, what adaptors did you use for the rear wheels and what size tyres on the front? cheers!
  20. As I was gradually destroying the original body (oops!), decided to get a runner to put on, quick simple spray job, but looks OK:
  21. Following some research, decided to stick on a set of Pro-Lines to improve tarmac driving - Dirt Hawgs on front, Dirt Works on back. Even though now have different dia tyres front and rear I think it looks sweet and first test run was good...... Just got to sort out steel pinion now before MORE POWER!
  22. Thanks for rapid response. My guess is also a badly cast pinion, so have emailed supplier in the interim. Oh, and the first thought I had was with the grub screw!
  23. Thanks for thoughts so far. However, I have a couple old silver cans and the pinion will not fit on any of these either! Is this just likely to be a faulty pinion as I have not seen this issue elsewhere? (And I REALLY want to get a steel pinion on my Blitzer!)
  24. Hey guys, just took delivery of an Ansmann (RW) 32dp 13t steel pinion today for my Stadium Blitzer. However, it appears to be ever so slightly too small to fit onto the standard motor drive shaft and hence will not go on? I notice lots of people use RW pinions, could anyone please help with suggestions or share their experience? thanks all
  25. I am looking into upgrading my Blitzer and Lunchbox to 2.4ghz Spektrum set up. Of course, no BEC in Tamiya 104 ESC, and no BEC in Sprektrum receivers! Rather than change the ESC (which I am happy with), what does anyone reckon to installing one of these little chaps?? http://teamnovak.com/products/BEC/index.html
