  1. thanks i will have a look i love the looks of the scale shocks but are they any good the review on there own site says they leak going to look at the other sites tho thanks
  2. I also like the looks but am put off a little because they do look so stock do you know whats in them. my son has a re re and his dont leak but i dont know if there is any oil in them as i have not built them or looked at them at all i dont want to mess as they are sealed at the mo. The re re ones seem to have a pair of guides Bf2 for the shaft keeping it all square inside so i can understand they may be less leaky. thanks for your comments does any one run stock vintage with crp mods
  3. Hi i am running a vintage 1980/2010 re re hybread scorcher and wondered if anyone can help i am running stock vintage shocks dampers and they are shocking. the oil keeps falling out i have turned them upsidedown and re built them but they are obviously worn. Anyway back to my question Has anyone run originals with crp coil over kits and are they any good and do they leak or am i better to go re re using stock springs. also do re re s leak after a bit. I use the car as a basher but its very competertive indeed and i need to be able to get the edge over the others. the rough rider is the more stable car so i need the have a good set up to win. the surfaces we run are varied sand wet and semmi dry,(beach) loose and semi compact sandy dirt mountain bike track, woodland walkway paths and an old slate quarry so shale and smooth ish rock in that one. I currenly run soft setting at the front and i have weekend the tortion bars at the rear so the suspention works as real suspention should but with out proper damping so its too bouncy(duff dampers/shocks). If i run stock settings the rear is to high and bounces to much effecting the steering and if you run the fonts on the hard setting it just snow plouges. I have tweeked the front springs now so its now soft enough but i am sure it could be better can any one help or ecomend other setups that might give me the egde. I know its been covered b4 but i cant find any info.
  4. Hi i did this back along but the sand gets in them and then they are fubared the larger ball and sockets seems to take it better. i have also measured the balls and its not just the cups that ware out the balls do also. I have found that if you get hold of a 6.5mm drill and open up the cup hole the re re bits fit and its bashing time again the top ones arnt so bad i am still running stock on these also hardening up the springs seems to make the original balls last longer.
  5. I have a radshape one and it bent but it was super hard use it straigtend again ok but wont for ever. I would just double up the original its the best way forward for stong light and efficient. ( its what we used to do back in the day and still best my sons re re is proof) but watch out in realy damp sand it can work its way between the two plates and bend them wich binds the steering but a good blast thro the sea or a puddle clears it again. but again more extreem use than most would give them.
  6. Hi its only a millimeter or so at the most but enough to clear the front tubes. a new er one without the little set back spring loop will rub against the front tubes and jam the suspenssion. by the way i would want the shocks and rear springs if fitted. I have originals to replace your bits 07795604342
  7. Hi i am after re-re scorcher stuff for swap or buy 1980 originals. Wanted new shocks /dampers new rear spring tortion bars i have to get rid of 1980 shocks rebuilt (ie will strip easy not seised up) but now leaking oil as i didnt have the correct o rings so used what i had. Original rear tortion bars. speed controler please contact me or call 07795604342
  8. Hay i am running a 1980 scorcher alongside my boy who has a 2010 re re . I have watched them play and sat on the sidelines while he has the fun due to breakdowns and flat batterys whilst he smashes badword out of it and has had no mechanical failures at all even servo saver pops and ball joint wheel offs and stearage offs. I have now also gone electronic speed controler after he took the mick as his battery lasts so long this leads me to the only failure i can see the reverse when going forward takes an age to learn double stick and with only half power its not so good for emergency stops reversing out of the clag and rear end sliding. i have no more messing about with burning speed controlers The suspession is softer but this just seems to make it grip more and not rattle the body off. it does scuff the gearbox more tho the shocks retain there oil and dont fill up with sand the ball joints on mine pop for a pass time his never have even thoe he is six and just loves to get air when ever he can. i have gone the speed controler route and am looking for shocks now i have some to swap. I am also looking for rear tortion bars Dont worry i am keeping my 79 shelfer as just that but re re has to be the way forward well done Tamiya WHAT DO YOU THINK anyone had the same experiances.
  9. poke poke i am in Lympsham so just around the corner have you run on sand bay and the worlbury woods bike track. its a bit mad have you got any recomendations.
  10. 6 year old sons Mine me is 44 going on 7 i think my brothers 42years old him not the car. this carnage was produced in a slate quary in somerset kenton mandervil superb Any chance of any more somerset bashing newby with original scorcher, son with re-re scorcher daughter with mantaray but its poorly. We want to join in damage not a problem but not prefured we also have a hornet and mantaray bashers i have also original 79 scorcher shelfer that was played to deth back in the day. the roughrider is also an original 1 owner from new

  12. Check out the servo savor at the front look neer to the suspesion tubes if the loop where the spring goes thro is set back a bit to give clearence its a 79 if its not its 80 onwards. an late one wont fit on a early chassis it binds on the tubes if that helps.
