  1. Hi Guys,

I have several Mini Coopers (M01, M03, and M05). My boys and I are starting to drive them more and needless to say, the original tires are wearing fast.  Just for general street  driving (not racing), what tires do you guys recomemnd, and where are you getting them?  I've bought a couple of pairs recently that were described as working with M cars, but apparently I need the smaller and lower profile ones for the Mini.

    Thank you!

  2. Hi.  I have an M01 chassis with no body (looks to have been a Mini Cooper at one time based on the wheel design), but have an extra Honda Lowdown Van body (apparently with a longer wheelbase from the M01-L chassis).  Does anyone know if the M01 chassis can be lengthened to make it into an M01L?  I know some of the M chassis can be modified as far as the wheelbase is concerned, but wasn't sure about this one.

    Thanks!

  3. As a follow up,  it looks like there's a similar pin in the rear for optional rear steering, and it dropped out very easily when removing the retaining screw. So I'm suspecting the front pin is bent and looks like I can extract it by removing enough screws to slightly separate the two chassis halves and then grabbing it with some needle nose pliers.  Strange that just a couple of flips could bend a solid metal pin, but I guess with kids driving these things, anything is possible.

  4. Hi. I have built various Tamaya kits but I’m new to the king yellow and similar chassis. I bought one used/pre-built a few months ago and yesterday my kids flipped it causing what looks like the steering system to jam.

Not being all that familiar with these kits, it looks like the steering arm pivots around a metal pin. If you see the attached video (could only take a very short one due to file size limit) , it’s now jammed to one side and almost seems like it’s now spring loaded to that side. Does that mean the metal pin could be bent? If so, it looks like the only way to push it back out is to disassemble the chassis and push it out from top to bottom.   Is that required or does anyone know if there’s an easier way to try getting that out since according to the instruction manual it looks like it is tapped in during assembly. Thank you for the suggestions.

  5. Hi,

I have a couple of CC01's (Defender and FJ Cruiser).  I'm considering the Land Cruiser 40 body for one of them and from what I understand the wheelbase of this is in between the Defender and FJ. However on my existing chassis', it seems to have a set of suspension link mounting holes more forward on the Defender and aft for the FJ, but nothing in between.  Does this mean that the Land Cruiser has a unique chassis with mounting points somewhere in between?  Or is there something that I'm missing in order to make it work with one of my existing chassis'?

I hope this makes sense and thank you for the suggestions.

  6. The summer of 1989 my parents bought me a Fox for my 8th grade graduation gift.  I had the LHS assemble it and I'll never forget when I walked in and saw it sitting there all fresh and new.....it was great especially knowing that it was mine!  Over the next few years I added a Lunchbox (my first kit assembly), Blackfoot, and a Hilux Monster Racer.  Unfortunately I no longer have any of these.

After being out of R/C for a long time, the Tamiya bug bit me again in January after I saw all of the re-releases.  I would love to have my cars back in re-released form....really hate that I missed the Novafox because I have searched ebay and the buy it now prices are crazy for these.

    Currently I have : RC10 Classic, Re-re Hotshot.

Coming Soon : Clodbuster, Blackfoot, Lunchbox.

Wish List : Novafox, Hilux racer, RC10T

This is getting expensive but man is it fun to relive the past Tamiya style !

  7. Thanks for the replies.  I think a kit should still be fairly affordable although certainly higher than when readily available.  That's not a bad idea piecing one together with spare parts.
