  1. I think it was from a Kyosho, but i cant remember, it was MANY years ago. Its 48pitch pinion/spur, and then the standard 32pitch the rest of the gear box, but ball diff, not the counter gear/sun gear setup into Dogbones and axles. Cheers
  2. I currently have a 27 tooth 48 pitch gear in my Fox, running on the Thorp Counter/Spur. As for 32 pitch gears i had a 22t in my gearbox before i converted it to Thorp internals and externals. I also doubt your 20turn would do 40mph. I have a 30t Single in currently just for cruising around, but also have my Joel Johnson Speedworks motor that is 13t and keeps up with timed/boosted/geared 17.5t Brushless at my track, and I can tell you they arent doing 40mph as its Stock Racing. Maybe some video of it would keep the doubters at bay! Also, those Conrad wheels in the the link posted before for the front wont fit Fox, as the inner side of them in too small and rubs the A-Arms. I have mounted the rear Hex adapters with them ok. Cheers
  3. On a side note, there is a bloke selling dog bones reasonably cheap on EBAY. Check item 260941181945 if anyone interested! Cheers
  4. Id say its these: Hotshot, Avante, Bigwig, Fox, Super Sabre....and many more cars it fits as the optional tyre.
  5. There was the 3 speed, speed controller, and there was the 3speed transmission. Most of Tamiyas vehicles had the 3 speed (step) servo operated controller, (low, medium, full) depending on the position of the throttle on your controller. 3 speed transmission vehicles, actually had a H Pattern on the transmitter, so you could choose from Low speed(4wd) mode, mid range for 4wd high, and high speed (2wd) for driving, it had an actually gearbox built factory wise so it could resemble a real 4wd with low, mid and high range capability. Cheers
  6. Interesting when you read what they have changed about it in your link. First they say the speed controller is not included, then at the end, it is included. They must of changed their minds between the middle and end of the list. Just thought that was a little amusing.
  7. Yellow is positive, I have the tamiya esc and it shows yellow as positive to match the motors they supplied with their kits back in the day. Cheers
  8. Just cleaned it up with good ol Armorall!
  9. A few more pics now that the new front tyres have arrived and the sway bar fitted. Cleaned up the under carriage too. Scratch free! Also could be selling it soon, so will be taking offers shortly if people are interested. Cheers
  10. Like many of the responses already made, I grew up with sticks. From my 6 AA battery powered Lamborghini, to the Hornet and Fox to my RC10 graphite Stealth buggy. These days I have a B4 that now runs Futaba/FASST sticks, and the gear I had in that, now resides in my Fox. I hadn't raced since 93, and when I got back into the hobby last year, wanted to give the AE pistol controller a run, but felt cornering was more controlled with sticks. So when it comes down to race day, I go for sticks over wheel. Cheers
  11. These are fantastic 1:1 versions! Love to see a 1:1 ClodBuster or Fox!
  12. Hmmm, can't say it looks better, and as it is a copy it was bound to have parts that weren't perfect fit. Wheels look better, but thats about it, give me a Fox anyday. Good to see it came together in the end though.
  13. I was going to buy that same car from that same guy when he had it available but bought a NIB Fox for less than he wanted to part with that. All parts should be direct replacements for any Fox, just no TAMIYA stamped on the parts. That should be a cool car to have on the track, or are you going to keep it as a shelf queen? Cheers
  14. Hey Hey Just thought id add to the ever increasing popularity of the Fox Have 3 of them and 100's of spares that i have horded over the years. My current Runner ive had since new in 1988 and stopped driving it in 1993 when I moved from Tas to Sydney. I have a tidy shelfer and a backup spare runner if needed on the day for Vintage racing or if someone wants to borrow it at the track. The Red one ive added adjustable rear camber and drilled out alot of the excess bulk plastic, and to this day is still holding together. Its running a Magic Johnson Speedworks motor, which was the shizzz back in the day, its brushed obviously, running LiPo and Tamiya 104 ESC, which they say is not meant to handle anything lower than 25 turn, but i still give it a thrashing with that Speedworks Motor. Which leads to an interesting question. ****I have managed to put a metal gear in my Runner back in the day from maybe a Kyosho ?? I dont know, but it rings a bell. I have added pictures below so you can maybe tell me what it could be from as Id like to get another one for the backup car. **** Next on the list for this one is some Trinity 2.0 rims and Losi Step tyres for the rear, and will put the same tyres as my Shelfer has on the front for a bit more grip at our track instead of the hard block style tyres. The Shelfer is standard as possible, everything is shiny new including the alloy wheels which i had to have made up as the Ebay sellers had sold out. Painted the body in Metallic Blue from a VHT can which turned out trick, with the Flecks of Metallic shining in the sun when it hits the paint. Still has the old Metal Plate Speedy and stock 540 motor. The backup car is running Assocated receiver and Trigger and has an old school Lemans 600E 30Turn, nothing special really about this one, just its still going strong. Cheers Cheers
  15. I just took my Fox GearBox apart for the first time in nearly 20years. Back in the day I have replaced the main gear (that the pinion runs on) with a metal gear, and I dont know what I got it from..(thinking Kyosho maybe but just dont know). Anyone able to confirm what I got it from? Did Thorp do anything special with that gear or just the ball diffs?
  16. What mods you have to do to get those Trinity rears to fit? Are you using the wheel spacer that the Fox has or just the roll pin?
