Guess they used whatever chassis fit the best. The RS200 doesn't look too bad for the hotshot? Not sure what chassis is under the 205 though. The Sapphire Cosworth fitted my mid custom ok,main benefit, was being able to stuff it down the inside with maybe a little 'love tap' without flipping over,as you sometimes get with open wheel racing.

Says it fits, doesn't say it fits well! lol Otley modelsport have a HPI one? http://modelsport.co.uk/hpi-bmw-e30-m3-body-200mm-/rc-car-products/37896

Again from '89 Touring car/rallycross shells, predating the dedicated touring car chassis. I raced a sapphire cosworth shell on my mid, with some success.

Interesting enough, the second hand market looks familiar!

I would say it's about right, for a 40hr week (or part time as I call it).I think that's where the 'average' gets a bit inaccurate. My 'average' week last year was 76hrs,which even on min wage is £26k.

Stock & Pullers Toy Tractor collection
Wooders28 replied to mongoose1983's topic in Anything not RC related goes here
Didn't realise there was such a range! I only knew about orange blossom SST and pull sled,(which I have put in such a safe place,I haven't found it!). Pullers have changed over the years, like every thing else. This is Snoopy,I loved this tractor,as a kid,it was the name really. This is Snoopy 4 taken at the end of Aug this year. -
Cheers! I have a few mags, but not as many as I should as they all got cut up. I made a race track around my bedroom wall (when I was a teen, not recently!) and cut out and stuck on rc pics to make it look like they where racing.
-
But a must have if you wanted your battery to last. Today's money a set for a Ninja would be an eye watering £127! Most cars now you can get a set for £20.
-
The modern trucks are purpose built race machines, with space frame chassis etc.A far cry from the original Bigfoot. I got a bit side tracked today looking for Orange blossom, see general discussion thread, but got the performance center pictured! Sorry my knowledge of events near Santiago de chille is a bit limited!

If you went back in time, and ran lipo and brushless power, you would lap 2nd place!! TBH, a battery dumping added an element to racing. You had to gear your car to the track, to not only give you good speed down the straight, punch out of the corners but enough battery to last the race! I saved up for months to buy a 'magnum SCR' which enabled me to go up a tooth on the pinion for the final. You can tell it was the 'golden era' by the way you can still buy most of the kits, and they still look the business now. I must have spent some money on RC stuff over the years looking at the prices!!
-
The main difference is that the cars for sale then, are still available now,27yrs later! I couldn't give a 27" widescreen, with surround sound,CRT TV away last year and took it to the tip.

Whilst searching for some bits for a different thread, I came across my old Radio Race Car mags from BITD, March 1988 to be exact.Needless to say, searching stopped. What surprised me was the price of RC equipment back then,no wonder I found I needed 3 part time jobs aswell as all the pocket money I could muster to fund racing! In 1988 the average UK salary according to Google, was £8000 pa.The average now is £26000,an increase of 325% A monster beetle then was £87, which would make it £282.75 in today's money, but the same seller has it for £139!,which would make it £42.77 in old money! Today's kids have it easy! lol

Don't know where you are in the world, but, if you're in the UK,the best bet would be at Santa Pod.They have a few Monster trucks of their own and run them as a side show at regular intervals during the day,or when there's been an oil down after a dragster has blown up. Next (and last for the year I think) is the flame and Thunder at the end of the month. http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_flame.php Defo going to have a look in the garage today for Orange blossom and pull sled! Found the performance center though.

Why did I not know these existed?!?

Your 'outbid' will power is stronger than mine! lol The only bidding war I got really sucked in on,was for a 1:1 part, which after 11 years on ebay,I had never seen listed before.Turned out I know the guy I was bidding against, then tells me 'if i knew it was you'!!! Typical.
-
As a seller,I find it nerve racking, with 10 secs to go,40+ watchers and no bids! Then finishes with 10+ bids and makes more than you expected. One thing that does bug me as a seller,is the one minute to go,email questions!
-
Never seen those before! I think the closest we got was the wind up with the handle,Evel Knievel stunt cycle.
-
I was sure there was going to be a catch, only thing is the boxes ain't in the best of condition and absolutely stink of smoke, main reason they are in the garage. Had a quick look tonight, found my castle USB interface, but no orange blossom.
-
One of the reasons is,you can get things cheaper.I have had a moaning email after an auction ended telling me I was being unfair, they would have outbid me etc etc. Another reason, and the main one for me,is that you get one chance to put a bid in for what you think it's worth and don't get caught in a bidding war. Didn't know you could gets apps though(to be fair there's apps for everything!),maybe worth it for overseas bidding, saves setting an alarm clock for 3am!
-
Snipe apps? Didn't know about those. How different are they to normal sniping? Missed out on few, planning on waiting until the final seconds, only to find the seller ended the auction early,or no longer for sale etc.
-
I will, once I can remember where I put them,in the garage....somewhere! As I said, not that big of a deal here,so prices are cheap! I came across my old 'performance center' in my folks loft, had a quick look on ebay to get an idea of a price to sell it and ended up buying a truck and a sled! One just ended on ebay uk, £15 and no bids! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Playskool-Truck-Orange-Blossom-Special-2-with-instructions-/252101101679?ssPageName=STRK%3AMESINDXX%3AVRI&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=yacJ7di0VMjATGKM0iUj4TRsnXc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
