In my experience, you can get pretty much any wheel to fit any chassis. Find wheels you like the look of, and then find a way to make them work. May need hex adapters, low profile wheel nuts, or even new driveshafts, but I've not had wheels I couldn't fit as yet..

Love the '81 YZ250!! 👍 Mainly, as it was my first Motocross bike 😁

TD2 ball diff vs gear diff general use help?
Wooders28 replied to nicksincrc's topic in General discussions
Are they not an odd ball (🙄) size, like 3/32 ? Might need to look at Associated etc. Usually ball diff for loose surface (acts like an LSD) and gear diff for high grip ,as not much slip on the drive axle, can cause the car to understeer (kind of tank steer ,as both wheels are trying to drive forward) under power. -
Full scale car projects?

Loom done for the tail lights.😁 -LED Reverse light /fog light dual bulbs -LED Stop / Tail bulbs - LED Stop / Indicator switchbacks, with a 5 pin relay, allowing to run through a voltage regulator (when zero volts from the braking circuit) to give Tail/Stop/Indicator out of the same bulb. - Sequential LED controller (capacitor hold on relay circuit), to give Sequential turn signals (which can be changed to different speeds, and different modes/sequence. Going to run the change button to the centre console, for 'show use only'...🙄) -
I sure some lipos are now advised at being able to charge a 5C!! 🫣 Most of my race liHv batteries say upto 3C, but I charge at 1C, and only go higher if I'm running late for a final.

Think that's why 'brown out' is a thing with Savox servos, they're quite power hungry, and people forget to check the BEC current rating of their esc before purchasing one (plus not setting end points). Most are only 3Amp. Not sure if HV servos require less amps, given they're higher voltage running (need a suitable esc to supply HV BEC right enough).
-
I may have set my youtube vid to, link only and not public...🤦♂️ Pretty much the same though. I bought an Altrun race servo for a Novafox build, and the specs said it was pretty much the same as my Futaba Brushless servo, but for a 1/5 of the price!! Urm.. Although, Futaba say its metal geared, but with mine being a low profile servo, the gears are thinner, and managed to rip some gears off, in a crash on the straight (other car crashed on another part of the track, and cartwheeled across the straight, I was flat-out, so not a tiny incident).

Avante upgrades? (Tamico's deal of the week!)
Wooders28 replied to Wooders28's topic in General discussions
Used to beat them regularly with my Mid bitd, but they are a stunning bit of kit, too nice to just leave on a shelf.. Oh dear, I can hear my wallet shaking with fear at the mention of his name...🙈🤣🤣 -

Avante upgrades? (Tamico's deal of the week!)
Wooders28 replied to Wooders28's topic in General discussions
Nothing serious, will just be vintage races probably. Thinking of tungsten carbide balls for the centre diff (always thought that was a slipper 🤦♂️) and then just play about with set up/ shock oils/ springs (got a set of springs for the mid that I'm hoping will fit) and gears. Presuming they're 2" tyres too, so the Schumacher blocks/mini spike and full spike will fit..maybe -
Avante upgrades? (Tamico's deal of the week!)
Wooders28 replied to Wooders28's topic in General discussions
Looking at putting an order in for paint, esc (probably a 10.5t motor..) etc and presuming Tamiya provide their usual aluminium / soft cheese pinion with the kit? Seen another thread, and seemingly the pinion options are 06mod, 12 - 23T ? I can't imagine the low tooth pinions are required with modern motors, so thinking of maybe a 17, 19, 21 and a 23t should cover all track configurations? (Tight twisty carpet track, to wide open with long straight Astro tracks?). -

Letter from Parcelfarce still hasn't arrived with the info, but phoned them with the tracking number I got from Tamico (the German tracking swaps to a GB one) they gave me their customs tracking number, so then been online and paid the £70 ransom (pretty bang on @Twinfan !!). Should arrive in the next pay or 2.. -
Keep throwing it out there at my Glasgow club (Calderglen Country Park) to run on our Astro, but doesn't seem a great deal of interest tbh.. They run alot of Mini's, not sure about the TC scene tbh, but I'll ask for you. Here's a vid of some last night's running taken by @neowhizz https://www.facebook.com/groups/161092140649851/permalink/9406287842796855/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v I'll let you know when it starts back-up, not many venture out with salt still on the roads....
-
Absolutely!! @neowhizz helps run the club at Ayr (although, looks to have been 2019 since he's been on here..), and he trys to run vintage/tamiya days there. Winter isn't too blessed, but the Paisley Breakfast club meet regularly at the Mirren Football ground, next is the 6th April. The Gas Guzzlers usually have a monthly meet at the Harley Davidson showroom at Hillington of a Wednesday night, with a live rock band, burger van etc, and if the weather gods are favourable, a cracking meet. Dunfirmline isn't a BRCA registered club anymore and following their own path..., but their new off road Astro track looks awesome, and planning on getting over for a meeting, when I can!! I went for a visit a few months back! Someone messaged the Glasgow club on FB (I'm admin) wanting to run vintage/Tamiya on the Glasgow Astro. Turned out he lived a few streets away, and our kids are at the same school (small world..). Great for stealth parts selling/ purchasing 🙄😁. He races there, and was trying to get me into 2D /flat earth / GT12 racing, but it's not for me (but have bought an M05 to run at Ayr...maybe 🤣)

Full scale car projects?
Wooders28 replied to Wooders28's topic in Anything not RC related goes here
Wow , superb , sooo much better 👏👍 Only heard (🙄) good things about them!! I know a few who've been there. I've got a full 2.5" X pipe system from Magnaflow, Not sure how quiet it'll be though... Did buy some DB7 Vantage exhaust tips But not sure what they'll do on the noise front... -

Looking like a won't get my dad's signature, he's been getting more frail as the days have rolled by, and is now End of life care. I asked him if it would be okay to draw around his hand, so i can give him a high five, and he gave a big smile. Managed not to knock too much stuff over in the care home 🫣, but ...👍 Blue is his favourite colour, and so got his approval on choice of paint too. -
Welcome @Mikey P We're in the same neck of the woods (central), i work near Stirling!! Most of us are 1:1 car guys too (my project is in this section, 'full scale car projects? ') , goto a few meets, but usually the 'Gas Guzzlers'. There's a few clubs nearby (ish), which I've listed in this thread, Glasgow (my club) and Dunfermline are Off-Road, Lothian On-Road (guessing that's where you race the GT12?) and Ayr has carpet track for both.
-
I follow a page on YouTube for 1:1 project car stuff, but he's recently done one about 3D printing (I say recently, 6 months, that's recently in ny head...🙄) Pretty much same reply as the guys above, Bambu.

What pinion gear to get with sport tuned motor?
Wooders28 replied to RC_Hobbyist's topic in General discussions
Tried a few on my DT03. 16t (32dp) kind if fits, probably not last long on a low turned brushless, but the lower torque of a brushed, might not be too bad. I've run a 20T (32dp) for a while though, with bonkers power brushless, and been fine, the motor can't move away because of the gearbox casing, and obviously won't move in. -
How much top speed would you expect 4wd to suck away vs rwd??
Wooders28 replied to marlinspike's topic in General discussions
Fwd is shocking in cars not designed for it, there's just not enough weight over the front wheels, so the car just sits with the front wheels spinning. -

Wooders28 replied to marlinspike's topic in General discussions
(Just to throw this in..). Shaft drive 4wd are less efficient than belt drive 4wd, so a belt drive 4wd is marginal ,where a shaft drive is quite significant. (Brushless and modern batteries kind of notice less though, where bitd, it could be decided if your battery finished the race or not) -
Avante upgrades? (Tamico's deal of the week!)
Wooders28 replied to Wooders28's topic in General discussions
Think the slowest I've got, is an 8.5t...🫣 Probably go for the new 10BL120 G2, although I've an old LRP flow kicking about somewhere ... The Corerc CR293 I've got, has fitted everywhere the old Nicad/Nimh fitted, so that's should fit, or it's going to be made to fit 🙄 Didn't realise DHL turned into Parcelfarce this end, I'd have gone for the more expensive (but cheaper...), option!!! (Hope they remember to post me out the ransom letter, they forgot on an order from the States, and only me trying to chase it up, and driving an hour to the depot, stopped it getting sent back...🤦♂️) Edit, Dug out my motor options....urm -
Do the mods I've done and recommend in the previous thread, the drivetrain is quite bullet proof. Although, hit anything solid at the speed you'll likely to be going, things will break, whatever chassis you buy. I would say, it's an old chassis (2006) , and parts are getting harder to get.

Doh! 🤦♂️🤣 Although it's DHL rather than Parcelfarce, I'm guessing there'd be a brexit charge..
