  1. Here's a situation I didn't think was possible but, I purchased a 1:1 car part from the states and used GPP,thinking job done.I recieved an email off ebay a week later saying that my dispute had been successful and PayPal refunded me.I didn't instigate a dispute,so contacted the seller, who said he also didn't. After phoning ebay uk, PayPal, ebay usa I was still none the wiser. After a couple of weeks of contact, I find that the customs depot the item went through thought it was too big so " liquidated " it to recover losses and refunded me my money! So you are not even guaranteed your purchased item will even reach you! I know RC parts are going to be smaller, but I didn't think they had the right to sell items that are not theirs to sell.
  2. The 1.9 was a great car, just a bit light at the rear,ok if you had enough revs for the bend, bite you if you bottled it mid corner, like my mate did with mine!
  3. I have done that in the past. How much! I have 2 of those! Before I know it I am taking pics and listing. Paid for my brushless set up. Keep waiting for the price of some cars to go up,have a schumacher fusion, but they seem to be only going for £60-70 complete rtr,it can be a man cave ornament at that money and only play out once a year.
  4. I restored a frog which was my first car bitd, and then remembered why I got rid of it in the first place and was a bit of let down tbh. So I would go for the re Superchamp aswell. You get the new box build excitement, with bitd thrown in too!
  5. Cheers, it would have been cheaper buying a Ferrari though with the cost of import duty and vat on parts! I don't think people have forgotten how quick brushed are, just how much faster and trouble free brushless are, especially with new battery tech, 3s lipo and above! If you are in Glasgow area you can try my castle 5700 and 3s (same as 6cell footprint) in one of yours and see the difference. Things move on,prices for 'new' tech comes down, even my washing machine is brushless!! 25 yrs for vintage seems a ball park figure, but still hard to look at the likes of a hornet or lunchbox as vintage, when they still look fresh and you can buy them new! (without 3 step though) Not that well up on rc ic engines,so not sure of the advances in tech, better manufacturing tolerances meaning better reliability? Any injected ones on the market yet?
  6. Try and run electronic speed controllers in everything, from the old futaba 112b in the 'vintage' race days kyosho Ultima,to a megasquirt 3 in the bigger stuff! Nice pug btw, mine got kart wheeled across a field!
  7. Back in the days before electronics cut in and stopped fun! My classic Current state, with the RC collection, tamiya forum after all. With reference to my 'electronics cut in' is it time or a shift in technology that defines a classic? 3 steps are now a thing of the past (making a car with a mech speed controller a classic?) and I think brushed motors will have had their day at some point.
  8. It used to be 25yrs for classic tax,but now it's been changed to 40 yrs, then it's free not £230. Plus it can't be a classic,I remember those new!!! :-o
  9. Some of the stuff I have for sale i would give it someone for nothing!
  10. Hopefully that works!!! Message me with your offers before i bung them on Ebay. Cheers.
  11. Turns out , it doesn't work , no matter what you do, if you are using Internet Explorer!! Change to a different browser and its no bother.
  12. After reading the 'motivation' thread, and coming to the conclusion that working more than full time ,having a new born Daughter and a 1:1 project on the go, the chances are the many RC projects are just isn't going to happen. So I have been having a look at what I am prepared to part with, for now. Hopefully my new Photobucket account will work!! Anyway , first the body shells:- Subaru Brat lexan shell Tamiya Frog BMW Mini Kyosho outrage Subaru Impezza (front damage) Proline 3009 ultimate Butterfly (fits Ultima) (Better out of bag pics on Ebay - (not mine) ) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301541276273?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT lamborghini gallardo Porsche 911 GT3 Ford Focus (Front damage) Tamiya Desert Gator *** SOLD *** Kyosho Turbo Ultima #1 Kyosho Turbo Ultima #2 (Damaged) Kyosho Ultima sideways wing set UM-61 Kyosho Ultima Stinger wing mounting wire SG-31 DF03 Dark Impact Decal set Projects Parma Hemi Coupe Hot Rod- Inc NIP Body set Tamiya Hornet - *** SOLD *** Servo, receiver, Boomerang wheel adapters. 13. Might just be a bit of trail and error with oils.
  14. Are different rate pistons available for those dampers? In the past I have used a hot sewing needle to enlarge the holes in the piston, this is a one way ticket though!
  15. As said,it's the oil that is the damper/suspension , the spring is there primarily just to pull the damper piston back through the oil to its original start position, ready for another bump. When racing, you choose various oil weight (thickness/viscosity),piston size and spring rate to set the car suspension up depending on the track. So in short, you will find it very bouncy.
  16. My best has to be a Kyosho optima mid custom special,It won me many races back in the day in the 4wd class and never let me down, handled fantastic and was controllable in the air. 2nd best has to be the kyosho ultima, won me races in the 2wd class, but the aluminum chassis would bend up snapping the upper plate at the slightest nudge! Worst car would have to be the Schumacher xtr3e. Quick car,but 3rd gear was made out of cheese, and of course you had to buy the whole gear set. Most disappointing was the Tamiya frog.Maybe because I saved all my paperound money, birthday money etc etc to buy one to beat my mates hornet, only to find it bounced much the same as a hornet plus striped the splines on the driveshafts regularly! The holiday buggy was another, didn't realise it had a 380 motor, and when you fit a 540,it strips the gears.Even tried fireworks to make it quicker! Most of the modern stuff I have is good( although my df03 does break alot),brushless and lipos take care of the speed and battery life issues.
  17. Well, thanks for the motivation, once I can work out how to post multiple pics I am going to post my unfinished projects in the for sale section.
  18. I blame the mounting projects on smartphones and ebay! I was looking for a Marui Ninja, ended up buying 2 AND a coors thunderbird! It's got to the stage where I need to get rid of some as I don't have the time or space to keep them all!
  19. Nitro engines love forced induction, look at Top fuel dragsters.2 strokes don't gain much though, you get a cleaner charge as the 'boost' pushes out all of the exhaust gas but that's about it. Ran a blown schumacher xtr3e and it made marginal difference, but looked the business!
  20. I have yet to have success in getting the management to let cars into the house,so have made makeshift shelving in the garage out of some mdf.Means I get greeted with this view each time I walk in.
  21. Now you have modded the chassis this will fit! (makes the dark impact a bit lively though) http://www.modelsport.co.uk/orion-rocket-sport-3s-3200mah-25c-11.1v-lipo-uni-plug-/rc-car-products/373639 I would recommend the slipper clutch (and hardened gear mod)if running brushless. I went for tungsten carbide diff balls too. Then just upgrade when you break stuff!
  22. That's the one,at around 6ft they are a little bigger than 'humps'!! lol. Saying that it was the small whoops that I managed to snap my chassis on. Tried doing a lap but you just cannot see all the way around. Last time I went was after a nightshift on a Sunday morning in the summer.
  23. I am in cumbernauld, the BMX track here is a chassis snapper!
  24. One from blue Peter early 90's
  25. So do I,think we are showing our age! :-S
