I had trouble finding a 6 cell NiCad size , Hard case 3s Lipo.
Managed to find the one below by Orion which is close but I still had to cut a bit of the DF03 chassis.
I don't have any experience of the DT01 so will have to measure up.

Ordered a KNK Zing for the wife for christmas.as she makes cards etc.
Kind of hope i could use it for making my own decals!
Not sounding as easy as i first thought.
-
Bigger the better for running air tools etc, but depends on the amount of use it will get.
I run a 3HP-150 ltr in the garage for the 1:1 projects, but is a faff trying to set up to spray the RC bodies, once its set up though, i can spray a full body without it kicking in again.
Saying that I ended up getting a tin of compressed air for a couple of quid, so can spray the RC stuff in the spare room, its warmer and less debris in the air.
If you are not planning a lot of heavy use then a 24 ltr would be fine, something like Aldi has on offer from time to time ( http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/2-5hp-air-compressor-79-99-aldi-895964 )
Just never know when its going to be in!

That's a great airplane video! I can see why people would be tempted to use a pulse jet for a plane!
It was great to be a 'youngster'
to see and hear the thing in action. Could be so so dangerous in the wrong hands though, as said 'rocket jet strapped to a flying blade' which just would not notice you as it chopped you in half. Not been to woodvale rally since its not been held at the RAF air field so not sure if it does still fly?
-
A guy used to run one at the woodvale airshow a while back.He must have had a special licence and been insured to the max,as if it went out of control and into the crowd,as a few planes did back then,i would just slice folk in half!!
Managed to find it! :-

I am sure I will add more to the list as time goes on.

One in falkirk and one in Dunfirmline are the only ones i know about.Never got a chance to head to a meet though,as i always seem to be working when a meets on! Word of warning,The BMX track at Condorrat is a chassis snapper.

This was the Glasgow store I was in, tomorrow is their last day.
Also had a couple of midnight pumpkins and a lunchbox in similar conditions so for anybody near Glasgow get in there tomorrow, also had a stack of various spares and hop ups going cheap on a stand near the till.
Doh, really should have looked at this thread yesterday!!!

There are some cars i Wish i hadnt sold,my optima mid, much like mad racer, had it from the late 80's and had some good success at the track, then gave up,passed my driving test and sold it to buy pistons for my 1275GT!
I am in 2 minds if i should sell my schumacher fusion, had it a few years, its been bashed about, still runs fine but you need a big open, flat and paved area to use it and they dont seem to be around anymore as all the car parks etc have speed bumps now! Looking on fleebay a mint one is going for around the £100 mark, making mine worth £60ish! Its sat on shelf in the garage at the moment,so it least its serving as shelf art?
-
The HPI Baja 5B SS! Most awesome RC I own and have ever driven. Makes all the rest seem like toys.
Wow!
Thats some statement. So worth the money then? (another to the Wish list!)
Current best car is my Brushless DF03 dark impact.Bonkers fast and i can get parts easy WHEN i crash it.
Best IC on road is the schumacher fusion
Best IC off road is the HPI Savage.
Best 4wd race car was the optima mid,Wish i hadnt sold it.
Best 2wd race car is the 1988 ultima.

It was getting the hardened five star shaft that was the problem gear wise. After reading on a thread that a hardened gear can be pressed on that was that!
Have a selection from 18t to 28t pinions and the 2 spurs gives a good range of ratios.
Are the carbon chassis expensive? Presume you just swap everything over?
-
Will stick with what i have, sounds way to much hassle for more power that actually cannot be used!
3s wasnt that hard to fit using the Orion rocket pack and trimmed some off the chassis, just so not to strain/damage the battery cable.
-
Couldnt find those five star hardened shafts anywhere!,so had to press on a,ground to size, hardened helicopter pinion.
So the max set up would be around 7000 on 3s?
I am thinking the 5700 is stretching it a bit as it is!
Sounding like set up issues, with weight, suspension, steering and maybe diffs.Enough to keep me going...for now.

-
Did you run 4s in a DF03? How did you get that to fit?
The speed control will take 6s,just not sure the gears will !!
Just checked the price of scales on fleebay, can get them for just over £3 delivered! Didnt realise they had become that cheap, last time i looked they where £20!
Once the snow clears and the grass dries out a bit i will fit the spikes back on,drop the gearing and head off to the golf course for some youtube filming.
-
No such thing as over powered! Just need to tweak it until its right.

I actually managed to bend one of the rear uprated suspension shafts,so its running the standard set up at the rear.New shafts just arrived so can build them back up and give me a bit more to tune. Also got some different weight oils i can try.
First job is the slack steering, servo saver first then see if any improvement, before replacing/upgrading other bits.
I had to cut away some of the chassis to get the 3s to fit nice,so that my need bracing.
Would i need to buy 4 of those small digital scales or get away with 1 and rest the other 3 wheels on cd's or something to keep it level?
Thinking on,might see if i can lend a high speed vid camera and do a few launches, white stripes on tyres etc and set it up like at the drag strip.

One thing i aint dropping is the power!!

-
Wondering if foam tyres would help when running on road?
Will try ditching the plastic saver and make one out of some metal tubing and see if that helps, but would not really want that as a permanent fix as i dont want to wreak the servo.
Must be some way other than reduction in power!!
-
Come to think of it,it is does seem to go left!
I will pinch a servo saver off another car and see if that makes any difference,i dont know if i should uprate all the steering system to alloy? Bits of movement in everything.
I did want something bonkers quick,so i can tick that box, just need for it to be useable now! Be nice to put some tall gearing in and take her for a speed run.
Even with tall gearing she still wants to spin out.I have an old gyro out of a twister helicopter so may see if i can adapt that and see what happens.
-
Having bit of trouble keeping my DF03 in a straight line. I have tried altering to toe in, camber angles, even swapped to a faster servo. The only thing I will need to is replace the servo saver (hi torque?) as there is plenty of play (plus slight play in all the linkages) so that's first on the list . Running a Castle 5700 and 3s lipo and know the chassis aint meant to run that level of get up and go. Has anyone got any experience of running a gyro on the steering set up? Does it alter the driving experience?

Just an idea

The plan for 2013 is to sell the ones I know that I wont find time to finish, to pay for the ones that I do. So far I have sold 3....but bought 2!

Good luck with the build. Didn't realise that the proper escorts where global, and spouting bug catchers
, Shame ford had to ruin it and go wrong wheel drive!-

I melted a mech speedo and the Tamiya battery connectors doing that very thing with the hornet pinion (many many moons ago). Super slow pick up but fantastic top end!Curious, where you using the long Lunchbox brass 10T pinion and the Lunchbox motor adapter, or did you remove the adapter and use an 18T Hornet pinion?
-
So should I put some small holes in the duct tape I have wrapped around some stick packs that had the shrink wrap damaged???As 94eg says, they should be fine to use. My explosions were caused by dust blocking the vents and the cells not being able to vent like they should. Built up big pressure and BANG! If you can hear the hiss, then the vents are working normally.

Got given a toy martini porsche,1 wheel drive and dog slow,Even at 6-7 yrs old it wasnt fast enough and broke the rear spoiler kicking it to go faster!
Playing with it in a car park, and a tamiya Hornet flew past!
The other kid gave me a go of the Hornet and that was me hooked!!
Got hold of a Tamiya Frog, started racing on a makeshift track down Rotten row in Southport.
10 years of racing, and a compliment of ultimas and optimas later i got a 1275GT mini and spent my time on money keep that running and chasing women!!

3s in the DF03 is a handful off road, too much throttle and its end over end.On road its still a handful, just less expensive on parts!
In a DT01 my money is on you not even getting close to full power before its tumbling.Dont get me wrong, its fun having stupid amounts of power.
