  1. Looking at the future releases from tamiya looks like another avante release under the "new batch" heading! Which is welcome news for me I need a new set of tyres and wheels and I could do with a sprucing up of the decals!.......love an avante (or few)
  2. Yep your not wrong I cracked 2 of them and a trip to A&E because of stitches in my hand when the screwdriver when through it and that was after the soak in hot water also the e-clips on the base of the shocks absorbers are an absolute pain but that could be because buy the time you get to the shocks your patience has all but disappeared and make sure you have grown an extra pair of hands which you will need when you have to bolt everything together at the front! And I see no rhyme or reason why you need to put the under tray on at the very start of the build it just gets in the way? But it's a brilliant buggy when it's done!
  3. We need to see the box aswell, I think (although is a close run thing with all the boxes) the topforce box art with the avante and egress are the best looking!.......oh the sand scorcher is a good one aswell and monster beetle! Actually scrub this post🤔 they are all good!
  4. Best bit being able to afford the kit of your dreams (tamiya avante) without thinking if I buy that more important things like paying for everyday life has to take a bashing and when said dream arrives opening it and smelling them tamiya tyres! Worse things is when you've built the little work of engineering art wanting to use it but don't want to use it because you will scratch or damage it!
  5. I'm afraid the excuse I frequently getting when I'm trying to order various parts (egress, avante etc) which I think we are all going to have to get used to is "covid 19" I'm seeing it on road work signs I even seen it on a diversion which said "because of covid 19 a diversion has been set in place" one place I phoned said a big container full of tamiya kits and parts has been delayed because of..............wait for it!..................the new excuse "covid 19" racer magazine can't get printed because of "covid19" although all the rest of their magazines must not be infected!
  6. Yeah traxxas stuff is really expensive now never was it was just in line with hpi stuff back in the nitro truck days (savage, revo, LST etc) but it just all of a sudden rocketed in price!
  7. When the guy's on here do build threads is very good but that brings it to another level! I wonder if tamiya had something to do with it because it's very slick?
  8. I got these from woolf race from Sweden (I think) off Ebay took no time at all to arrive! And they are excellent quality!
  9. Yeah I'm totally with you on supporting LHS or any local shops to be fair! But the problem I have is you can't get a lot of the old tamiya items I look for? So I have no option but to go to the likes of Ebay! Prime example is the tamiya super stock RR motor I got the other day I'd been after the limited edition gun metal case one for years and one turned up on Ebay at I don't mind saying a stupid expensive price but I thought do I pass on it and never see another one unused mint or do I go for it? And i went for it knowing it's no way worth £100 but in my defence i have all the super stock different versions so my collection of them is now complete!
  10. I was wondering about the crazy prices people are paying for stuff on the online auctions way back in the first few days/weeks of the lockdown? considering about a year or so ago I put a fully kitted out associated rc10 re-release on Ebay and I got about £130 for it now I look and they are going for £400+ just the car no electric's and one person on Ebay has one on for just short of £1,300........absolute madness mind you I very rarely sell my rc but I need to fund a BS avante so i put my fighting buggy on Ebay and got a very good price for it enough to fund the BS avante from tamico which was at least £200 cheaper than the crazy prices on Ebay and only £13 p&p! but I'm thinking when everybody is back at work and the lockdown rc project is getting in the way we are going to see a lot of half built kits on ebay ?
  11. I've been after this motor for an absolute age! I was just hoping I would get a used but good condition one someday then this popped up new unused only taken out of the box for the photos slightly more than I wanted to pay for it but I thought when will another one turn up cheaper! I have the standard silver type RR but this is the limited edition gun metal case type RR which is very rare indeed probably even more so in this condition and its going straight into my egress!
  12. That looks very good indeed👍! Metallic grey is just one of those colours that looks so right, my daughter has got one of those sporty little Ford fiestas in almost identical tamiya grey and it looks so good!
  13. Yeah that's what I got! I'm just not a fan of digital issues of magazines I generally read my magazine at work so its folded up and put in my work bag and you can't do that with a tablet or laptop (I've never tried it but I'm guessing it probably won't work) just an email to the paying subscribers keeping them informed would be a good thing to do? It's just pretty poor IMO!
  14. I'm thinking its because of the restrictions on airplanes flying and the vast majority of post/parcels still gets carried by civil aviation? So hopefully this should be getting better very soon? I'm just hoping we still get some sort of free trade deal with the EU when we leave and become in charge of our own destiny and have loads of successful trade deals with the rest of the world.....ehmmm yeah right! Because its going to get very expensive me thinks if we don't?
  15. I tell you what the postie hasn't brought me lately! And that's rc racer magazine? I've had a subscription to that magazine for as long as I can remember but all their website says is they can't get it printed and the subscription page they have taken it down and that was put up on April 2nd no other information has been put up which is pretty poor especially to subscribers and the other magazines they do seem to be fine I have tried to contact them but I've received no correspondence back! so I can only come to the conclusion that the only rc car magazine in the UK has finally bit the dust??? unless someone knows different? Very sad if it has gone because I know rc car information is instantly on line but I love a good read of a magazine that I get through the letterbox and (peaceful hour or so to myself can't beat it) also it's a record of that month in rc history which online magazines can't do! My stupid irritating cloud can't even keep photos it decides when it feels like deleting them without informing me!
  16. I'm really not sure about the vajra its probably the most parts bin rc tamiya do (bit lazy in its design) sorry to the guys that are a fan of it! But if I ever see one at the right price I'd go for it!
  17. They are from Hong kong a few years ago off Ebay I don't know if they are still available but I took a gamble on them because you really don't know if they are going to be as good as the pictures but I can tell you they really are better and they considering the distance travelled arrived pretty quick I also bought a set of chrome sand scorcher alloys equally as good then I got MCI racing avante decals in gold (the boxes had rc channel wrote on them)
  18. Mmmm yeah I never thought about that........ah but these are re-releases so if or until the vanquish make a return my collection is complete! I very nearly bought a vanquish the other week but I'd just got the avante black so I couldn't justify it (unfortunately)
  19. Finished off the avante black special today very pleased with it now I have the black I'm going to convert the 2011 avante back to the standard diff gears just to compare the performance side by side!
  20. I bought a wild willy 2 as a XB because it was on special offer at the time and it was very cheap I then began (over a period of time) changing it and OMG the build quality was amazing or ridiculous because I was fighting with every screw or glued part to get it off even the wheels had their own fight with me It was obvious the way tamiya intend things to be built
  21. Almost finished just the decals and driver figure! What I'm a tiny tiny bit miffed about is the first avante BS came with bonus parts and esc this one came with nothing and it cost more! Still an absolute stunning car though!
  22. Yeah your bang on right! When they went shiny side down it was total carnage because they were actually built from real pick up trucks! You look at the modern day monster truck it's just a space frame with a stupidly fast engine and a plastic body and all the bodies that are based on dogs with floppy ears and one that looks like superman.......what's that all about? Bazaar!!!
  23. Every body is entitled to an opinion! And I must admit I'm not a total fan of the clod even back in it's original days! Don't get me wrong it's a stunning looking truck true to the 80s monster trucks but it kinda let's it self down a bit when it bounces around but looks the part In slow motion it's a bit like the bruiser chassis of trucks they look amazing but performance is a bit dodgy when its rattling around the garden! But I could sit and look at them all day long because they just look amazing
  24. I think that's an option part from a different manufacturer! When tamiya produce a after market (hop-up) its generally complete and ready to install sometimes you have to remove a standard part for the hop-up to replace and it would definitely be in the back of the then tamiya rc guide option parts section!
