  1. That's what I meant in my (rather unclear) post above.
  2. Fantastic deal for $60 - the tiny wing mirrors alone are worth half of that! Welcome to the Mk1 club
  3. HD DVD vs. Blu-ray, anyone? Or Betamax vs VHS for those that were around for the original Sand Scorcher release.
  4. I was under the impression that the no-diff SRB was a good choice for running on sand, as it doesn't matter about the effect on turning circle (in fact, it's reduced) and one wheel never spins on its own. Ooooh - my first "multi-quote"
  5. I've decided not to read this thread any more. I much prefer the fuzzy warm one here: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69667&hl=
  6. The person who bid £63.11 in the last 10 seconds thought so, and the car wasn't that well advertised. I think you can be happy with what you paid.
  7. You can see from the fleabay photo that it's a TT-01 chassis, which means that it's the #58323 version from 2004 (according to the TamiyaClub models list). As OCD says, this is the second time the body had appeared; the first was on the #58113 model that used a completely different chassis. The problem is, you and the seller probably don't have the same definition of vintage. You could argue that 2004 is vintage in its own right.
  8. That looks a lot like the bumper on my son's DT02, which went 2' up a tree this morning. Not so much a bumper as a deflector shield.
  9. Wheelied (and damaged) my shortened TL-01. Took my son over to the woods with his Violet Racer. 3800mAh LiPo lasted almost half an hour. I think my camera skills need some work!
  10. To be fair, I was trying it in the garage so traction wasn't great and I was loath to give it too much juice in case I hit something. It's true that the LiPo is light, too. Will try it on the road outside now. And.... Good news: With a bit of reverse before full throttle, I can wheelie for over 6'. Bad news: I'm stupid. I only put the back bumper on (acts as a wheelie bar with the small wheels). Hit a curb and cracked the front gearbox. Good news: My cut and shut joint held up nicely and a bit of my new magic adhesive should sort the gearbox. Good job it's a prototype!
  11. A few changes (I needed the extraordinarily long servo lead for Frankenscorcher and the Sport Tuned needed to go back in my touring car) and it's now a runner (sort of). Receiver is tucked away behind/below the servo inside the chassis (removal of the plastic screw hole for the ballast resistor required) and as many of the wires squeezed inside as possible. Doesn't seem to interfere with the radio signal. Currently running a 21T pinion (19T is in the TC) and unable to wheelie at the moment; maybe when I can get my hands on bigger wheels....
  12. Looks like these are old stock; there's nothing about them anywhere on the H.A.R.D. web site. Given qatmix's review, I'm not surprised.
  13. They're not Tamiya branded; the fleabay title is a bit misleading as it means "Tamiya-540-Sized Brushless Motor And Esc Combos". They're actually "Head" brand.
  14. Not a lot of info about it. Member qatmix asked about them on oople, I believe, but didn't get any replies. adurrc.org has an entry stating that their "SPC "Stock TC" Specifications" includes: Motor/Esc - HARD 540 Brushless Motor and ESC Combo Set (17.5T) H6814 (£80 for competitors from Comet-RC.) which implies they're ok (assuming they're the same), but the cometrc site seems to be down now Looks interesting, but I bought a quality brushless ESC and 17T motor from hobbyking this week for £39 (inc P&P)
  15. Unless, like Buffy, it didn't want to be brought back.
  16. I've been given a tube of grease, receiver mounting pad and two (miss-matched frequency, oddly, although they both say Band 5) crystals by a member. I only bought a receiver and these fell out of the jiffy envelope today; small beer, perhaps, but I was chuffed at the gesture!
  17. According to a listing on fleabay for 50374s: Brand : Tamiya Item Type: Monster Pin Spike Tires ( 1 Pair) Size : 2.2" rubber tires Fit: Tamiya Off-Road Car, For Example 44025: TG10 Mad Bison - w/Engine 57727: RTR Mighty Bull 57729: RTR Over Lander 58058: Ford F-150 Blackfoot 58060: Monster Beetle 58077: Mud Blaster 58081: Nissan King Cab (Kingcab) 58086: Hi Lux Monster Racer (Hilux) 58101: Bush Devil 58110: Super Blackfoot 58192: King Blackfoot 58231: Wild Dagger 58309: Twin Detonator 58312: Blackfoot-Xtreme 58366: Double Blaze 58396: Dualhunter 58498: Blackfoot III 58514: Mud Blaster II
  18. He's saved me and my son some cash with the MZ offer, so he's got some Brownie Points to burn before I get upset with him.
  19. Did the RTR BF3 go out of stock online? If so, it's back now at the £85 price, with free delivery: http://www.modelzone...4ghz-radio.html
  20. I suppose you could remove even more weight by drilling/machining away some of the aluminium that surrounds the motor and use the motor itself to seal the enclosed section of the gearbox.
  21. Likely to be a delay now; I have neither the WW body or any appropriate wheels (although I know which wheels I want). I'm trying to source the bodywork cheaply, which normally means it'll take a while.
  22. Will do, OSR, but I spent my free time today working on the TL-01 Willy; I'll get this done asap, though
  23. Nothing too clever today. Aside from fixing up a second steering servo mount to replace the one I cut out, I was essentially building a TL-01. I haven't tried to improve the cosmetic appearance of the joints; I've decided that this guinea pig has already had a tough life so I might run it hard and use a newer donor to do a better job if it breaks. I think there might be enough space behind and under the steering servo to fit a small ESC and receiver inside the chassis.
