Wanted: Sand Scorcher/Rough Rider/F150/Super Champ/SRB Project
30YrsL8r replied to 30YrsL8r's topic in Trade Archive
The remaining parts will be going back on fleabay as individual sales in the hope of defraying some of my costs Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the last two photos show? I don't recognise these parts at all (though that's not saying much) -
Wanted: Sand Scorcher/Rough Rider/F150/Super Champ/SRB Project
30YrsL8r replied to 30YrsL8r's topic in Trade Archive
I have been watching the auctions on fleabay for a while now, but even the SRB's that are in a shocking state have managed to fetch surprisingly high prices. I finally found something worth bidding on, though, and managed to win the auction. Today the postman delivered my job lot of SRB bits. Some parts I set aside for my shelfer build (original brass UJs to replace the steel ones it currently has, three cam locks and a couple of well nuts) and I built the basis of my runner with a portion of the remaining bits. The wheels came from a previous purchase. -
I've just done the opposite and bought a load of parts with the intention of building one complete car and selling the rest on..

Best PLASTIC SHEET for Custom Frog/Brat Shock Tower
30YrsL8r replied to 30YrsL8r's topic in General discussions
I'm starting to be convinced. I could cut a carbon SRB chassis plate or two at the same time. Where did you get yours from? -
Just bought a cheap wreck of a Frog/Brat and I need to make a custom shock tower (among other things). I would prefer to make it out of a couple of pieces of sheet plastic, one mounted on either side of the existing metal brackets that attach to the chassis, because then I can cut them on a laser cutter (can't use it on metal, and I think carbon fibre sheet is too expensive). Trouble is, I don't know what type of plastic sheet would be best - can anyone advise me? I realise my solution might not look great, but it's going to be a Frog Scorcher, so it will be covered by the shell.

Check out Costanza (Hotdog) from Battlestar Galactica - perfect articulation, good proportions (i.e. not muscle-bound or wearing armour) and cheap on ebay: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?...st&p=447789 -

By way of an example of what I'm looking for, imagine fleabay item 330685565274 without a shell or wheels.... @caddyshack - I pm'd j-man and gr2fltp, but they're not in a position to help me out at present -
No differential as standard means it's prone to rolling over - you can fork out for a ball diff (£40 if you're lucky) to improve matters, or just drive it on sand! Oh, and I used Caustic Soda on mine - it's in my build thread.

Small wonder fleabay item 180816205851 sold in less than 3 minutes!!

@bromvw - This is going to be, dare I say it, a basher. So long as it's got the chassis, front end, rear gear case and four hubs (doesn't even need wheels as I have those), I will fit the cheapest, non-SRB suspension, radio gear, steering and lexan body I can find @timecmdr - Thanks for the pm - sent reply @caddyshack - I'll get in touch with them - thanks for the tip -

The only problem I can see with your cunning plan is that the decimal point is in the wrong place.. -

Where's the fun in that? -
My current Sand Scorcher project has enough original parts for me not to want to damage it as a runner, but I am still keen to get a buggy to hit the dirt/dunes with. I've thought about buying a cheap, newer Tamiya model, but I can't bring myself to do it - I want a SRB-based runner! So, I'm looking for anything that has four hubs to use as the basis for a runner project without worrying about originality. Do you have such a thing? Is there something that's steadily losing parts in your spares box that might fit the bill and deserves the chance of a new life? If you think you can help, please let me know and we can sort out a deal. Cheers.

How on earth did fleabay item 180817760943 reach over £200? I've seen more complete versions fetch a third of that in the last 24 hours. What's so special about this one?
-
Thanks for the input, folks - I knew I could get some decent suggestions. I've set up an appropriate search on fleabay, so hopefully something within budget will show up

I could use some advice from the experts on TC. My SS rebuild is coming along (slowly) and the more work I do, the less likely I think it is that the car will be a runner. Whilst I didn't buy it to be a shelf queen, I suspect that once is finished and painted then I'll be scared to death of wrecking it. Add to this the fact that my son will be running his Xmas present (TB-02) when the weather improves, I could really use a runner/basher to run with him. Can anyone suggest a VERY, VERY cheap car that would fit the bill? I prefer off road, so a buggy would suit me, but I'd like it to give my son a run for his money on the flat. I'm thinking that 4WD would be best, but I realise you pay for that sort of thing. I would also like it to have a cheap supply of parts, but I am not interested in hop ups. Don't care about vintage or re re or whatever for this runner, and it should be available second hand with as much of the electrics as possible for a minimal price (could use vintage transmitter and receiver from the SS in the short term to keep the cost down). Prefer Tamiya, but not mandatory; I just don't want those in the know to look at it and snigger! Any ideas?
-
Postman just brought me my 7 inch driver. He's been demobbed and will do very nicely. Almost seems a shame to cut his head off. Almost.
-
If you have been given a second hand car, it might be a good idea to post some quality photos so that the members here can see what hop-ups it already has...

Where did you find this?
