  1. Don't ask me why, but this looks like a movie set.
  2. That's funny and gross in equal measure.
  3. After the suggestion that there might be a meet at Delamere Forest, I was wondering if I could do something similar after reading this blog post again: http://mud4fun.wordpress.com/rc-rock-crawler/ I don't have the spares that this builder had and so: 1) Are Thundershot front (x2) and rear (x1) gearboxes the best, cheap option? 2) If so, does anyone have some in their bits bin that they'd be willing to part with? 3) If not, what else would fit the bill? Ideally I'd like a good reduction in gearing just using the 'boxes themselves.
  4. Anyone else feel a bit ill after watching this?
  5. If memory serves from my mountain bike visits, there's a sandy spot on the edge of the forest that might be good. It's here: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=53.23958,-2.710526 I can pop over and have a quick look as it's just a short walk (c. 300m) from a lay-by on Ashton Road.
  6. Just down the road from me
  7. Amusingly, he's actually included your question and response in his listing. His reply makes him look silly. Also: "If you have any questions and or concerns about the product at all, please email mebefore bidding on my auction and I will be happy to address your questions"
  8. Me too, but the specific PAGE I recall was the one with both the Cheetah and XR311 (in spite of my desire for the Sand Scorcher). Weird.
  9. Is the surface sand or tarmac?
  10. Love the step for the cat.
  11. Love it. Looks even more scale on sand (except for the footprints!). I wouldn't change a thing - soundtrack is perfect
  12. Thanks for the tip. I bookmarked that page to come back to once I get the proof of concept working (I've already got the gearboxes/motors and cut up a TL01 chassis to "fit" them).
  13. This project has been on hold while I find time to reconfigure my Atmel prototyping board for the ESC control, but this morning I got an email from HobbyKing that put me on to what looks like the perfect (and cheap) solution: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__45780__Multiwii_and_Megapirate_AIO_Flight_Controller_w_FTDI_ATmega_2560_V2_0_UK_Warehouse_.html More research required, but I know how to program these chips so this could be the ideal platform for the "brain" of the four-motor setup....
  14. Maybe what we need is private land rather than public - anyone know someone that works at a sand quarry? By the way, I'd be happy to run my Frankenscorcher with it's re-re hard shell, but not my Mk1
  15. Judging by the price for the shell alone (Tamiya 9335613/9335576), you might be best buying the whole car and parting out the chassis...
  16. Gotta love the minis.
  17. Could be irrelevant, but I have some vintage Tamiya Bruiser (58048) Shackles (4305129) from the Press Parts Bag (9405186) if you need them.
  18. Anyone else get a malware warning when visiting the link above? I use Google Chrome.
  19. Hey! He copied the look of your model for his 1:1!
  20. That's the approach I've taken for my WW 4x4, which is why, aesthetically, yours knocks mine into a cocked hat
  21. Jeez - look at that steering servo horn "linkage"; no chance of any steering slop there....
  22. MoT refers to the Ministry of Transport road safety test that's required annually to confirm it's fit for the road (mine is being tested tomorrow). The name is a hangover from years gone by; it's now the Department for Transport and the test falls under the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), an executive agency for the DoT.
  23. You can post what you like in this part of the forum and I, for one, haven't seen anything like this built before so there's interest here.
  24. That's the one I chose from your collection. Nice build.
