  1. No doubt that the interest would be there, but the licensing isn't open ended. Eventually it runs out and the mold goes on the shelf. It's a terrible model for recovering investment, but once lawyers discovered they could sue for IP, the terrain changed to the detriment of smaller manufacturers like Tamiya.
  2. ... Tamiya has produced an all-new ABS body for the RC lineup? The 58415 Tundra, in 2008, 13 years ago. That was the last one. A full third of Tamiya's entire 44 year RC model history. I was just musing about how with expensive licensing, dwindling interest in crafting hobbies, and the general state of the world economy, it's no wonder why Tamiya is reluctant to invest in new molds and tooling. Is it possible that they're done with producing all-new injection molded bodies for the RC lineup? The economy may recover, but licensing and lack interest in the hobby? These are things that can't be willed into happening. I know that Mr. Tamiya is making every effort to try and encourage the new generation to see the value of scale modelling and crafting, and that's great! Will that alone be enough to turn things around? 🤔
  3. Just going to leave this here https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Schrodinger's Joke Schrodinger's Joke "A joke which is both funny and not funny at the same time but there is no way of knowing if anyone else will laugh at it until you have told it... But by then it's too late and you will either look like an idiot or a comedy genius. (After telling a joke) I wasn't sure if you'd get that, it was a bit of a schrodinger's joke."

  5. Are you having trouble with the main site or the forum? If it's the main site, then try sending a message through the "contact" link at the bottom of the main page. If you're trying to contact him through the forum, click on @netsmithUK and contact him through his profile. Either way it may be a long time before you get a response.
  6. The site owner is a super-busy person and it usually takes a fair amount of time to get a response. You're certainly not alone. Patience is your friend
  7. Okay, I'm going to give up on this for now. Just noticed that the SIG banner doesn't even appear in the showroom entry 😬 @netsmithUK I tried to contact you through the main page but understand that you're probably busy with more pressing issues. Please let me know if you're getting my messages 👍
  8. I remember when I was 12-13 years old watching "Yo! MTV Raps" and being mesmerized by KMD. Not knowing where to buy the album or get a bootleg, I'd record the audio on my SOUNDESIGN cassette/turntable/radio receiver combo with a 75-300ohm coaxial converter hooked to the TV cable feed. I inadvertently made scores of mixtapes before mixtapes were a well known thing. Really bummed about this. I hadn't seen him perform since 2007 and regret not going to more of his shows. He was brilliant to watch perform live as well. Pouring one out 🍺
  9. Not sure how many of you were familiar with his work, but the man was a huge influence for the rap world and a highly respected artist. He was also a real deal Tamiya fanatic: "favorites of his collection [...] Tamiya, including a buggy, ’80s Toyota Hilux, Jeep Wrangler and first-gen Ford Bronco" https://jalopnik.com/remembering-mf-doom-legendary-rapper-and-rc-car-enthus-1845983230
  10. How is this done? I see that the "All S.I.G.'s" page states "JOIN OR START YOUR OWN", but haven't found a way to create one. Any help is appreciated! https://www.tamiyaclub.com/sigs.asp
  11. I think I broke it again Only allows me to upload 6 photos in total. I have no idea who or how I'm supposed to report issues, but if a mod could chime in it would be hugely appreciated. @netsmithUK -- Am I supposed to contact you here or somewhere else? Just want to do the right thing and not ruffle any feathers Thank you! *UPDATE* After spending the better part of an hour fiddling around with it, I managed to upload the rest of my photos. Appears that part of the problem has something to do with how you add the photo captions. Adding them separate from the photos seems to make a difference, but it's hard to say for sure. In any case I cannot consistently upload more than a few photos a time.
  12. Thanks to whoever fixed my showroom. Chris? This morning I gave it another shot and magic happened In any case, the help is hugely appreciated! 🏆🏆🏆
  13. I've used the Kyosho micron line for years and it works great; stays stuck and handles compound curves without issue. A while back I tried the ABC stuff and was a bit disappointed that it didn't perform as well as the micron line. The ABC tape feels like normal decal material, while Kyosho's has the consistency of very fine masking tape. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but Tamiya now makes their own body panel lines that comes as a full decal sheet that you cut yourself. Judging by my experiences with Tamiya decal material, I have no doubt that the quality is very good. https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/accessories/rc-pin-stripe-stickers/
  14. Bought one of these for my 4-year-old nephew. It's held up remarkably well considering how much bashing and crashing it's endured. Only a small adjustment to the body post holes and it they accept standard touring car bodies as well.
  15. Came here for this. Can only add that it's also the basis for the mid-sized Hummer/JGDGF truck/Repsol Lancer models, possibly making it one of the most versatile chassis in Tamiya's RC lineup. What other design has seen so many different forms?
  16. @netsmithUK I tried to PM you but the form said that you are unable to receive messages. Please, I understand you are very busy, but I really just want to add some new entries to my showroom and I can't even get that to work correctly. I'm incredibly sorry to be annoying, please forgive me If it helps any I will PAY you for your effort. I have hundreds of photos I've taken and currently can only upload one at a time, and limited to no more than 4 in total. Help. -Steve
  17. Tough choice, but I'm going @Saito2 -- I'm mostly a lurker nowadays, but I never pass up an opportunity to read his threads.
  18. @netsmithUK -- I got your comment in my showroom this morning, thanks. It's obviously not an emergency or anything but I really appreciate the response
  19. I've sent messages to members on the main site and they aren't being received. Profile cannot be edited (404 page) Still can't get "swaps" to appear on the front page. Previous help request from August: Firefox, up-to-date, no ad blocking, Window 10 PC laptop,
  20. I have a set of the 74031's and have used them on the RC decals for years with no problem. They can gum up but the Teflon coating makes them easy to clean. If you have a look at your local craft supply shop you'll find that the same Teflon/non-stick scissors that come in different sizes and price points. I use the Tamiya branded pair for fine work and a bigger pair made by EK for broader cuts. The EK's are great quality and I highly recommend them.
  21. Not sure if our messages are getting through? PM'd you a couple of weeks ago; I have a lightly used set available if interested https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=126849&id=2400
  22. The PS-63 is pretty much standard as far as polycarb paint goes. Start with a light coat and then a couple of regular coats will give a nice result. Tamiya's PS metallics are decently opaque and shouldn't give you too much trouble. PS-48 is a bit different. The "anodized" paints are notoriously tricky to apply. It's far less opaque (very little pigment if any at all), extremely thin, and takes a fair number of very light coats to be solid enough for backing. I've tried both PS-5 black and PS-12 silver backings and found both work well. The black gives a deeper shine than the silver however. Hope this helps
