  1. I'm booked in. Only doing stock this year so my Nissan Titan won't be making an appearance.

The last couple of years you could see the drivers list and see if your entry has been approved. I can't find that on the clubs webpage this year.

  2. I've just booked in for both classes. Be using the same cars as last year, The Sand Rover in the Standard, and the Nissan Titan in the Modified. Need to do some improvements to the Titan as I think this class is going to be competitive.

  3. All items are complete although some items may have come detached from the spruce.

Postage and packing (P&P) for the UK is free if paid by PayPal (gift). Overseas buyers please email me for total price including P&P.

I accept PayPal / Cheques / Postal orders from UK buyers but only PayPal from International buyers.

  4. erm, how was the car running on brushless before it went pop? I have a FF01 I am restoring atm to play about with.

I thought I give my M05 a rest this week and try the FF01 in the touring car class at the Chippenham Club meet. I was surprised how well it handled and the speed comparison compared to modern touring cars, just losing speed coming out of tight corners. If I can get this car running again and with a bit of tweaking, I reckon I could make the top 25% of the FTD (fastest time of the day) list.

  5. Hi, I be more than happy going to an all SRB Event.

What about a grass setup for a track? I guess that be easier to source than an area than a beach. Some established off-road tracks ie Kidderminster are alright for the SRB's as they are not too rough.

  6. Finally managed to get back to my 'Man Cave' where I got PC internet.

Yesterday was just an excellent day, in the racing and the company of people. Nice to meet some old faces and also put usernames to new faces. We was lucky to have a nice sunny day although in the morning it was a bit chilly and tried to rain.

Both my Sand Rover and Titan went well throughout the day but in the end I had 2 bad finals (My Driving) where I was trying to play 'catch-up' throughout both races.

Sand Rover - During round 2 the 'Sport Tuned' motor was dying on me... I guess a '380' powered Holiday buggy would have passed it on the straight :o . Put a 'Torque Tuned' in and it felt like a different beast, with good speed out of corners! I was surprised that the main body came away with no breakages, just tire scuffs and in the Final completely bent the rear roll bar after the 2 supports broke. Driver and Windscreen was untouched!!! No damage to the Chassis

Titan - I was really surprised how well the car handled out of the box, just ball-raced and a 23T Tamiya Rz Motor, The tyres supplied was just great after a bit of tweaking with the left / right rate of the Servo. Absolutely no damage to the chassis or shell after this meeting.

John W - you got my 2 cars labeled right in the group shot. I forgot to add my Pumpkin to it...Doh!! Excellent pictures you have taken.

Thanks to Lee (Super Gripper), Surrey & Hants club and all the other guys who helped organized it. It was well worth the journey. Congratulations to all the prize winners too.

Here's to a Second meeting next year..... bigger and better and include CW-01's and WR-02's in their own timed races :D

  7. yep could be WI-FI or mobile phone had it happen to me so turned router and pc off and then mobile and it sorted its self out but with every house having wifi can make life hard for old skool 27meg setup

I still use 27Mhz in most of my cars and I don't have any problems.with Wi-Fi. I live in a flat so there be a lot of different signals whizzing around in a small area.

  8. Hi guys,

I've just got forwards and reverse working and now the steering is working ok... there's me thinking yeah!!!!!!!!!

But all of a sudden when the car was approx 5m from the Tx the steering servo started to twitch then 7m away the wheels went in to full reverse, walk back closer to the TX and problems stop.. :( .

I've changed the crystals 3 times and the batteries in the handset are showing all 3 lights lit up. Plus the receiver is brand new.

    Any ideas..?

Transmitter Ariel extended and not damaged? No Break in receiver Ariel ( I know you said it's new)? Receiver Ariel not bundled up in car? best to put it in a tube going out of the car. Remember TX crystals are for Transmitter, RX are for Receiver. You using 27 or 40 MHz? and make sure the crystals are correct for your radio ie AM or FM.

  9. I have to put my hands up and say I don't know what BEC is. I would like to mention that I took the car out once and ran it for 15mins, then decided a week later to have one more test run and after about 3mins its died...

But it sounds like you might spot on there Mr Kevinthegerbil.. oops

The rx still worked ok when I put it back in to my Axial EXO.... but then again they could be my famous last words... :)

BEC = Battery Eliminating Circuit.... Normally the Receivers with it built in have an oval symbol with BEC in it on the label. To my knowledge no 2.4Ghz Receivers are.

If you are stuck... I believe a few members here are bringing spare radio gear down, but I be prepared to rip out the electrics out off my Pumpkin if need be to get you racing.

  10. My electrics are still giving me grief... can you believe it after the ESC problems.

My steering servo is dead, swapped it for a spare ( which is a different make) and now I don't have a servo saver that fits the servo horn :angry:

Ordered a new one hopefully be here today.. and I'll have a working car again

Since you been having electrical problems with the radio gear, you didn't plug a Tamiya ESC (excluding the BK105) directly into a none BEC receiver and damaged the receiver and now the Servo with them having 7.4v connected directly to them?

  11. Chaps.

Is anyone bringing a shock brace to sell? Mine hasn't arrived and I don't think it will before the weekend.

Also, is anyone bringing any 19T motors to sell? After my brushless failed, I put a very cheap 20T motor in my Desert Gator and I'm worried it might be rubbish. I'm waiting on a receiver so I'm getting slightly nervous all round about my Gator as it's still not been fired up.

This is the compromise motor I've installed: http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-saturn-20t-motor-540-type-/rc-car-products/14095

    Thanks, J

I'm only using a 23T motor, looking at this more as a fun meeting than a race meeting with my stadium truck in the modified class....remember not always the fastest car on the straight wins, it's the one that can normally get around the track without crashing and keeping good lines through the corners.

Those 20T Saturns are good motors. They also got a built in fan so make sure the vent holes are not covered by the gearbox.

  12. Mod Class...

I had bought a 10.5t Brushless system from HobbyKing but the ESC just kept flashing at me. I 'think' I may have either damaged the ESC when soldering or my soldering just wasn't up to scratch. No instructions in the box and nothing on the internet. Wasted about 3 hours of my life on it before deciding to call it a day. Pretty unamused until I remedied the disappointment with a hammer and smashed it.

I'm now running a 20t brushed motor. Sorted.

I'm thought about running a 13.5 Brushless in the modified but going with a 23T Brushed Tamiya RZ motor.

I've got an 'easyup' gazebo with I try to bring. I know I can just fit it into my car. Trouble about downsizing from an Astra Estate to a 'city car'

  13. I'm be using the Tamiya and Mtroniks brushed speed controllers with no LiPo cut off for racing at the DT-02 Challenge with 2S Lipo's. Like you said, the capacity of LiPo battery far outweighs the capacity used in a 5 minute race with a 20 - 27T motor.

I race a Bearhawk at Chippenham with a MVP 27T Brushed motor off-road on grass and I get 2 x 5 min races out of 4000mah LiPo batteries with plenty of power left in them afterwards.

  14. Admittedly, I'm concerned about my strobe effect roof LEDs but if they come off, they come off :)

Just hope that those LEDs don't act like a homing beacon for all the other cars during the 'race' :P

All these flash paint jobs on all the other cars going to make my cars look boring!!
