  1. Spent another afternoon to set it up for running. Spec. : Chassis - Gmade Dragoon Gearbox - JPS Arm tubes & Knuckles - likely HOT Racing Ball Diffs - Likely Thundertech Motors - SkyRC 13.5T with 15T pinion Escs - Team Powers 120A Battery - 3S 1 piece to supply both escs Shocks - Gmade Zero 103mm with 7.5wt shock oil SERVO - JX HV 17kg So, still waiting for the #4-40 short bolts to arrive for the gearbox covers. Also some M5 socket head bolts for the wheels.
  2. Took me the better part of 2 afternoons to clean her up. Replace some of the gears with NOS items that I had on hand and put everything back together
  3. Bought this chassis at the onset of my second spring with RC. While waiting for my first child, I decided to get back into RC thinking that this will be something to share with my kid when he is along. Bought the TLT-1 and things started to escalate. Now, my boy is in second year of Uni and shows no interest in any of my hobbies including RC. So, the old thing has been sitting in the store for more than 10 years. It's still some sort of lock down where I am. So, I decided to clean it up & make it run again. So this is a Gmade Dragoon chassis with JPS gearboxes & likley some HOT racing arm tubes & knuckles. Years of neglect and age old mud & cobwebs Egg shell !
  4. I have seen 2 breaks in my lifetime. Caught the bug in secondary school back in '86. Stopped when I moved to Australia in 1990 to further my studies. Picked it up again after getting married & waiting on my first child in 2001. Tapered off again 7-8 years ago due to work. Picked it up again in the last 3 years. It will never go away. Keep some of the good / significant stuff. Otherwise, when the next wave hits, u will regret selling.
  5. I opted for a to keep stock motors but ordered a 3S capable Hobbywing esc to run on 3S. Still not fast though
  6. Saw a gold rough rider for sale the other day. Decided to make one myself :
  7. Now that u mentioned it, it does bear some resemblance due to the color scheme. Been a while since I've watched Noddy. Eldest in Uni. On anothe note, RCmart denied my claim that the stickers are defective as they cannot get a replacment. Face palm This side ok Cry
  8. Hopefully this is the last kit but no promises. My friend pointed out that this color scheme reminds him of Christmas. Still sorting out with RCMart on the sticker defects.
  9. I have emailed my reverse sponsor RCmart so let's see what they can do about it. Meanwhile ordered a replacement from eBay, my other reverse sponsor. Kit #2 considered done. Not gonna paint the grills as I am likely to botch the job.
  10. Hmm, must have struck jackpot or something. First time ever I see this in a Tamiya kit in the last 30+ years of kit building :
  11. Wanted an alternative color scheme for the red body. This is what I got from MCI.
  12. I don't think the Sand Scorcher can do 45-50km/h. More like 1/2 that but to be verified by someone more expert than myself.
  13. Here's mine just completed save for the numbers.
  14. Installed the MCI replica stickered XLS body & wing to the kit
  15. Just about the limit of my meagre painting ability. Firefox scheme for stock. Microsoft / Escort Mk II scheme for mod :-)
  16. Here's mine. Please excuse the paint job. I am only expert of 1 color paint scheme. I call this the red back paint scheme :
  17. Start getting into the modern kits...
  18. CAT in the shade CAT in the Sun https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/aa189/joeling39/IMG-5476.jpg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds
  19. Quick run in the backyard
  20. Quarantine over and I am a free man again. Went ahead with the build. Low humidity helps with the paint drying. Dyed some white wheels golden yellow
  21. This is one of the best looking if not the best looking scorcher body I have ever seen. Brilliant ! P S: any place in Perth to race vintage buggies ? I am on day 8 of quarantine after nearly a year away due to work commitment.
