  1. Chicago Suburbs here
  2. My first fully functional RC cars was a Radio Shack Lancia Stratos: Then I got a Radio Shack Lamborghini Racer: That was late 70s early 80s in 86 I got my first 'Hobby Grade' RC.. Monogram Thunder (which I still own) in 87 I bought a Clodbuster (with the Bowtie Grille) kept that until the mid 90s and sold it in 2012, I bought a Dualhunter for my son and I to build then bought myself a BFX from eBay, I think I am more into it then my son. now my daughter wants her own and the Monogram is a bit too fast for her.
  3. Those HPI wheels were on my BFx when I got it.. I would have to bolt them up to see what rubbed.. But my first post differs from the second I guess, first one I just wanted new wheels and bigger tires as I felt the Blackfoot/Bruiser tires on there just don't do it justice as it sits. The Ford bodied Dagger I like as the wheels are brought in and it looks a bit like a scaler.. well at least the wheel location or more of what I would like. According to the original post I found the articulation is about 3". for what I do with the truck, that should be fine, I mean honestly it is just driving it on our street or our yard, so I am not so sure I want a fast truck, I remember when I was a kid having a clodbuster and driving it in the lawn was the most fun.. if I did the narrow track, I would swap my short shocks for the longer ones, and use Stock type wheels, in chrome or the grey if I can find them. I could then buy the rest of the parts and build a 2wd version for speed and for my Daughter to use as well
  4. Looking at different ideas on what to do to this truck.. While I was doing some web searching and found this: on Scale 4x4 http://www.scale4x4r...read.php?t=6565 He used TL-01 Suspension Arms (shorter) which give it more of a scaler look, which I kind of like.. Especially with using the Clod Body. brings the wheels in quite nicely I am really leaning this way then building another WR01 based car for my daughter to use as my son has a dual hunter.
  5. My Son's Dual Hunter.. it has Full Bearings and Oil shocks (Shocks not in this pic) My Blackfoot Extreme.. 4wd, Oil shocks, full bearings, Sport tuned motors, XL5 ESC
  6. Bromvw, I was thinking about this and was doing some web searching and found this: on Scale 4x4 http://www.scale4x4r...read.php?t=6565 He used TL-01 Suspension Arms (shorter) which give it more of a scaler look, which I kind of like.. Especially with using the Clod Body. brings the wheels in quite nicely I have another couple ideas for Clod wheels I might try, but I am at the point I want to just build a WR-01 from parts but it will be 2wd and a 3rd WR-01 RC in the house
  7. Pinions are on the way. I will try them with the Sport Tuned Motors 1st.. I have not ordered the 55t yet Still working out a way to install the Clod wheels where the are not so wide.. I was running it in the yard Sat afternoon and realized I was only part throttle.. I think going over things (with the truck) might be a bit of fun.
  8. Max, I think the crawler approach is more to my liking.. I don't have a lot of room for speed runs, if I find the need for speed in scale form, I have a buggy with a classic Trinity motor. I have ordered 14t Pinions, need to work out a couple things but might do Clod wheels on my BFX.. until my son decides he wants them.. LOL I think crawling around the yard and stuff might prove to be fun. If I build my own chassis. then I will buy enough pieces to make a 2wd WR-01 out of left overs. parts are nott too expensive and it would be fun to do,
  9. You have a nice setup on that Blackfoot What shocks are those?
  10. Max, I was looking at your Trial Dagger pages: http://www.tamiyaclu...cid=63940&id=24 http://www.tamiyaclu...id=112129&id=24 who did the chassis for you? How/where is the steering servo now? I was thinking of an alloy chassis myself, more as a project to see what I can do..Unless there is still someplace that makes them..
  11. I was wondering if Asiatees was a reputable source
  12. Neverfollow, I was in this position earlier this year. I wanted to buy an RC for my son. I really wanted something we could build together. I chose the Dual hunter After we built it and ran it, I found a used Black Foot Xtreme on eBay, bought it for myself but then ended up added the front transmission, RS540 Sport tuned motors and Traxxas XL5 ESC. I added 65mm shocks to both, but if I were to do it again I would go with longer ones. Both my son and I have a blast running them around, He is looking forward to trying it in the snow..
  13. Do you know what the final ratio is with the 14t Pinion? Max in your list #16 and 17 you you have source for those?
  14. Custom chassis for the blackfoot?
  15. <p><p>So I was posting about Clod sized whells for my BFX in bromvw's 4x4x4 Blackfoot thread.. but I think I have a good plan worked out just need to execute it. My Blackfoot is set up as follows: - Traxxas TQi 2 ch radio - Traxxas XL5 ESC - Front transmission added - Dual Black Can RS540 Sport tuned Motors - Dualhunter rims (White) with Original Blackfoot/Bruiser Tires - Clodbuster Body - Full Ball Bearings - 65mm Oil Dampers I want some bigger tires on it. the Blackfoot tires are about 2.25in wide (I think) and 4.75in tall. My thought is to do Wheely King Mud thrasher tires (5.3in x 2.75in) with HPI Super Star MT wheels Tires: Wheels Current truck:
  16. yeah I figured it was more planning and part hunting.. I have modded my BFX alot, not sure I want to buy more motors etc right now.. I do want new wheels on it though, I will post a new thread with my BFX specs and my Idea for more civil tires
  17. The more I think about it.. I thin k I might just go with a slightly bigger tire (WK Mud Thrasher) and call it a day.. much less complex to make work The thoughts of the bigger tires is cool but I will have to change quite a bit of stuff for it to work.. Might buy those BIG tires for a later project though
  18. Well, I have not actually bought these just yet ( Tires) still debating if I want to try it. My other thought was just use Wheely King tires which will give me another 1/2 inch of DiameterSorry Bromvw, did not mean to derail the thread
  19. these are the others I was looking at too
  20. Little dampers are there for now.. only can do so much at a time The Hex drive on the wheels look to be 17mm.. I found several 12mm to 17mm Hex adapters but most are 30mm wide.. Those are about $34 Junfac has these at $32 and are 25mm wide
  21. Mock up to how mine might look: thoughts?
  22. Hey bromvw, Do you have a picture of the truck sitting on a flat surface? I want to see what angle the A-arms are at to compare to my BFX.. I have acquired a set of larger wheels to see if I can make a monster as well. I just hope I don't break anything.. LOL Tires I have: Just need to work out the adapters
  23. Monogram Thunder.. made in 1986ish.. I have owned it since it was new This year I finally changed the electronics.. It has a 1987 Trinity Monster HP motor in it too But I put Frog decals on it back then
  24. We will see how it goes.. As a kid I always wanted a Bruiser, still maybe someday.. This RC hobby is only one of a few hobbies I have.. so money gets split between them sometimes
  25. Yeah my Daughter is liking it, probably because her brother has a car. I rebuilt my 25 year old Monogram Thunder with some leftover bits and classic Trinity Motor.. it is fun to drive
