  1. In a word, yes! Like Mr Crispy said, the inner foams make a big difference and the compound, I only have one video of my Lunchbox with the stock tyres and wheels, and it just cart wheels all over the place; Here, lol! With the Geolanders it's a different beast altogether, it actual goes where I want it to and is very well controlled, although I am running 5th shock, Junfac rear brace with longer Traxxas dampers all round and a mod to the front wishbones to restrict the positive camber of the longer shocks all round! It all helps, the difference is night and day. Cheers Nito ps. I like the snow vids above, lol, good effort!
  2. Nice, was that from RC mart by any chance? Jeez, I bought mine a couple of weeks back and mine was the sixth, there are only 2 left there now!!
  3. My WR/WT01's are about 50mm clearance. This works for me on the terrain I go on. 22mm is no good for me unfortunately which puts the XV01 chassis out of contention, much as I like it, I wouldn't be able to use it realistically. I was hoping the Asterion would be a fair bit higher as it could help justify such a purchase. Shame the Asterion is so ugly (and exposing the motor looks terrible with the high cut bumper), would be nice to see a contemporary body along the lines of the Pajero, especially with the realistic look of the inner wheel arches!
  4. Lol, thanks chaps, it's not often that I luck into things but I certainly did today...I think she deserves that Kumamon WR02c she's been eyeing up!! Wonder if it would arrive by Valentines day, I see stella have it available to order now!!
  5. Interested to see how you get on with that booth, I'm going through a similar process! You can join two of those up together to get a bigger booth! Well, not exactly the postman but my awesome wife brought this home for me today!! A mint condition illuminated display cabinet...I knew there was a reason I love her! The lights aren't working and the key to the door is lost, both should be easily remedied. She managed to get it from our local farm shop, they were going to break it up and skip it for the above reasons!! They loaded it into the car and she gave them £20 for a drink. I've got permission to put it in the study room but the room'll need some re-arranging. It'll display 12 cars, 2 on each shelf!!
  6. I guess the longer damper will also allow the travel to move beyond standard when hitting obstacles independently. Has to be a good thing having the longer damper I would have thought. Guess you can also achieve higher ground clearance by putting Asterion type wheels on. Anyone know the ground clearance of the Asterion, and does that have long dampers as standard?
  7. Thanks Dorvack. I can appreciate that. It's also very accessible budget wise, which is a really good thing since it draws more people into the hobby. I don't mean to criticise it, I've never used one or spent any time looking over one. I just find that it has no particular features that I find appealing, it just doesn't feel 'special' enough to me to warrant me ever considering one (whereas the front engine quirk of the XV, which for me makes a huge difference to the balance that I love of the 03F, the nicely enclosed chassis and the mud guards that I really like all appeal to me). It is great to hear that it is a capable chassis and clearly it has had more sales success I'd suggest than the XV01. (It's a pity for the XV01 because I feel (again judging it on my 03F experience and all the features the XV has) that it deserves more recognition than it perhaps gets. Hopefully more bodyshells and derivatives will help. I'd like to see more of this chassis along the lines of the Asterion, maybe a Pajero scaler type bodyshell but a different new bodyshell. Cheers Nito
  8. I love the balance of the TA03F, for me it knocks spots of the already good TA02 chassis, and the XV01 is the perfect spiritual successor to the TA03F. The only reason I don't own one (I have two TA03F's including a pro which I only use in the kitchen!!) is because I have nowhere to use something with such limited ground clearance where I live. I really fancy one, especially as there are some well priced ones about. If it hasn't succeeded then it's purely down to price and lack of knowledge with them. Anyone who has them, like the TA03F, will rave about them, so many will just buy the regular TT02 and the like (which I can't get excited about at all) purely on price. I'm sure like the 03F, they'll have a bit of a cult following and become a future classic. It also seems to be fairly adaptable which is nice (like the Asterion) could it make a nice scaler platform maybe, or is it still insufficient with the ground clearance even in Asterion guise??
  9. I'm using a Futaba FF7 on my Bruiser, using channel mixing and all sorts to control the lighting system, it's great what you can adhieve with channel mixing and switching. Think I might save 4WS for the WR as you say and run a Futaba 7ch receiver on that, I'll be running brushless again on the WT01 so with that power through the rears probably better kept as 2ws! Cheers Nito
  10. I'm tempted to go 4ws on my new rig, is it worth it XV?
  11. This arrived yesterday evening courtesy of Fusion It's a shame the Blackfoot box doesn't get any funky Box art! No idea what I'm going to do with this yet. Fancied a Blackfoot bodyshell and it seemed better value to just buy the kit seeing as I had £25 of Fusion points from Bruiser purchase to use up on this! Hmmm!!
  12. That's very nice, thanks for the link. I'm in the UK
  13. I found a load of hop ups on mine when I dug it out like 15 years later, which I'd forgotten I'd even done. Adjustable turn buckles for the top arms, fully ball raced, I think it came with ball diffs front and rear and cva shocks from memory, unless they were also hop ups! We converted this to take an Escort Cosworth Repsol bodyshell and raised the ride height as well as fitting rally block tyres and wheels to give it useable ground clearance as the Supra shell is only any use on smooth surfaces. Now the Cossie is on the wife's Dual Hunter and the TA02 is for messing about in the kitchen drifting lol! That and the TA03F's of which I have two, a normal one, and a Pro which is awesome.
  14. Looks great Dorvack!
  15. I think it was the force of the water resistance on fast entry to the puddle rather than an impact. Still it straightened out easily in a vice! Still can't see your comments on that thread...what post number??
  16. I like those aluminium chassis plates, are they still available? I share the WT/WR love. There are a few of us on here that do. regards Nito
  17. Great idea, My next mission is to put beadlocks on and I too was looking at the Gmade rims, and maybe even the pneumatic tyres. When you posted the rears earlier, I thought to myself nice idea but really I'd want the fronts too. Now you post the fronts, great find! Do it!! Cheers Nito
  18. Bruiser tyres. I had my eye on that front bumper too, will look a lot better on my car bodied rigs!
  19. Mine is now a drifter!
  20. Thanks for saving me money then!! It's the cups I need more not the dogbones, but I'll add those ofna items to the list if I ever break my dog bones. I think I'll order the modellbau cups the knight linked to above. Cheers for that feedback, Nito
  21. Or the 4wd TA02 Castrol Tom's Supra!
  22. Sorry I missed this, I didn't see your comments re it not rolling, was that in your build thread?! Hey, this is merely my second WT01. Once I priced up the total cost of a Blackfoot bodyshell and all the bits to go with it (bumpers etc), it was only a bit more for the full thing!! I now own two WT01's and one WR01 . The other three WR01's belong to the wife and kids! Mine are the Blue Subaru WT01 and the Dual Hunter bodied WR01 on the far right of that photo! EsCos belongs to the wife, kids have the other two.
  23. That is running 2S, so 31,820rpm running with standard pinion (can't remember now if 18T or 20T is standard!). The ESC isn't set up to maximum either from memory. Where I have waterproofed my receiver it is now a pain to make adjustments to the ESC. Next time I will run a Y cable out of the waterproofed enclosure so I can make adjustments easily with the programming box. I do have a 3S heli pack, I'd like to give it a go for fun but I think it's plenty fast enough as it is lol! Before I fitted the jumbo servo and GPM mounts it would wheelie and flip over, now with the weight of the Jumbo servo and the travel on the better shock setup it's far better controlled. Thank you for those links, I've never seen the wide track versions, that sounds interesting, could make it more stable, I'm tempted to give that a go! I was considering these; http://www.asiatees.com/display?Tamiya-Wild-Dagger-Parts-Hop-Ups-Upgrades&brand=Tamiya&model=Wild%20Dagger&id=35933&pid=1 For some reason the third video doesn't appear in above post; Thanks Nito
  24. Not really, I use an HPI 4300Kv motor, Flux esc and lipo. It would be a good idea to pack your diff with heavy duty grease, after a while mine started slipping but the heavy duty grease cured it for now. I've had no problem with the gears themselves. My CV cups (wheel side) are wearing, that is with 100mm shocks/GPM tower combo on the rear, however it's still driving fine like this, I haven't replaced them yet but I'm guessing I will need to soon. Just looking for some suitable replacements. I would say the gmade shocks are fine, I use 93mm on the front, you can easily adjust the preload and I guess they sell firmer/softer springs so you can tailor it. The Gmade shocks are lovely, but I'm not so sold on the shaft material, they're not coated like some of the Tamiya ones and feel a little cheap, but then I guess they are relatively speaking. This happened to my front one after racing through a deep puddle; Might have happened here, but I noticed odd handling immediately after this vid although I'd been blasting through the puddle for a while before. and another just before here; Another Brushless vid here; Gives an idea on Brushless, this is running GPM towers front and rear, 93mm front 100mm shocks rear. The only problems I have experience with this truck since new, is; servo; (acoms plastic geared no good for this application) solution fitted jumbo and gpm mounts, diff slipping; packed with HD grease, bent shock; put in vice and straightened out and that is it!! It's taken some hard bashing. Obviously those cups will be next on list but that's not helped by the rear ride height I guess! Cheers Nito
  25. I love the WT01 as a fast basher. Here's my thread which covers most things and a video at the end of it running with a 9T equiv brushless; http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/160586-tamiya-wt01-wr01-monster-truck-build/ I run a jumbo servo on mine, but my kids trucks are running waterproof savox metal geared servos which are a must on these imho if you want trouble free running. My top recommended mods to this chassis (apart from ball racing) are; 1. Upgraded metal geared servo (gpm servo mounts are worthwhile to remove flex while doing this but necessary) 2. GPM shock towers and 93mm shocks for massively extended suspension travel 3. Waterproofed receiver/ESC (chassis flicks up quite a lot of water so makes this a more complete basher) I should be receiving a Blackfoot III today from Fusion ordered back in December I thought the Chassis had gone out of production as no one seemed to have stock for a while, glad they haven't! Here's our fleet of WT/WR01's. I'm suprised they're not that popular in Japan, do they do a lot of 'bashing' in Japan? Cheers Nito
