The WT01 or WR01 is a great basher for kids also. Here is the Monster Hornet... And the oh so versatile WT01... Hornet with a Mad Bull box for a laugh... and Hornet box...
-
They're both pretty tough to be fair. The Mad Bull box has thicker gears but I've never had an issue with the Hornet box even running brushless. The Mad Bull box is wider and taller so it can come into contact with the ground easier than the Hornet box. In my opinion, I find my Monster Hornet to be a better basher than the Mad Bull. Although mine is running a lipo which makes it much lighter therefore eliminating the annoying battery box cover falling off issue that the Hornet has with a heavier battery. Personally I find the lunchbox a bit of a PITA, it's good for novelty value but it's annoying having to keep chasing after it to right it every 5 seconds!

Toyota Hi Lux - Hop Ups

That Junfac kit is not for the Bruiser, rather the F350/Hilux high lift (3 speed plastic gear models). I run a Futaba 10J, would highly recommend an 8J or 10J for many reasons, plenty for sale on ebay with very light use from drones etc. Much better option imho than the 4ch futaba, you can adjust so much and shift gear using a 3 position switch instead of the dated stick shift. You also have a huge model memory to run all your models off it and suitable 6ch receivers are like £25 and nice and compact. -
I so want one but I too am maxed out and broke at the moment with 1:1 projects and associated costs! I'll have to live vicariously through others for the time being Enjoy your rigs folks!!

Cracking VFM for the MB2 at £89. I'm all WT'd out, have 10 of the things lol!
-
It'll be the diff. Pack it with heavy duty grease. The outer gears within the housing spin over the spider gears. Is your WT brushless? I had the same issue, since packing the diff it has been fine. I found this out purely by chance as like you I stripped and checked everything. Mine had only just started doing it, I packed my diff with hd grease to limit the differential while it was apart the second time and it cured it totally.

Thanks Chaps, sorry for the tardy reply, not been around so much lately! NeonScorcher, the track within a mm is 287mm front and 295mm rear. cheers Nito

They were discontinued a long time ago, but a distributor in the UK had a considerable stock, they recently sold all their remaining stock to a model shop. There are some on ebay also. I posted a link to the uk model shop that had these in stock in one of the Bigwig threads if you search for MFA. Cheers Nito Edit...found it but they are all out of stock, ignore the temporarily unavailable, they are all gone! https://www.howesmodels.co.uk/product/MFA RX-15 Plus RE 700 (6-8.4v) Motor they had 44Nr in stock back in December! I spoke to the distributors a few months back, they said they were new old stock and they are no longer made.

I went to the local track with VRdetailing from here about a year ago. From 2.17 onwards in the video below you can see WT01/WR01 action. The Silver rig is mine, it's a brushless WT01 wearing a Dual Hunter shell with 100mm rear shocks and 93mm front on extended towers and massive Gmade inflated rear tyres. The black one is VR's, it's a twin brushless WR01. You'll notice the WT always lands on its feet

Yup, another checking in. I now build my kits using Milwaukee 12v power tools with the torque setting on low which means I get perfect consistency on my torque screws without the oh I've gone too far and the screw has gone soft in the plastic worry which has occasionally happened in the past! I tended to use snap on tools on the cars/bikes which are generally excellent quality, but their power tools left a fair bit to be desired, then I discovered Milwaukee and their power tool range is superb, I have quite a few 18v and 12v. I even have a gun for the wheel nuts which makes light work of changing wheels and tyres. Perfect for assembling the 80 screws required to put a set of CR01 wheels together! Vessel make some great 'driver bits' so I've been using them on my RC, either in a Milwaukee tool or a ratcheted snap on bit driver. My travel tool box just has the Tamiya box spanner and Tamiya's crosshead really.

I don't think you could with a regular 3ch unless its programmable, ie the heli ones give you all the programmability and lots of switches and options. I use a Futaba 10J but the 8j and a few Spektrums also have loads of options as an example.

Fantastic, how wonderful for you to be involved in this, very cool, always loved the original video. The mud video shows it using vise crawler tyres. Love the underwater footage, very cool, must have waterproofed the receiver properly for that one!

Not if you have a fully configurable radio how about rwd, fwd, 4wd, 4wd with a rear bias 40:60 split all on the fly, opposite 4ws, same 4ws, half duty rear steer, exponentials etc etc. So much to do on these. This is just one of many project threads on here... enjoy lots of reading and inspirational threads...

Just saw his today on the Tamiya facebook page, I know exactly how I'll be painting mine when it comes out, this'll be a definate, love it!
-
Thanks TeaMonster. I've been at work today so only managed to get a few bits done. All the shocks/dampers Fitted front and rear shocks, the rear gearbox is connected up with 4 of the 6 screws so I can drop it easily when I'm ready to paint... Not overly impressed with the strength of the front bumper, looks like it's got less than one proper impact in it! I'm deliberating painting the wheels pearl white to match what I'm planning to use on the shell to go with the sparkelescent blue. But couldn't resist getting it on its wheels in the meantime... Final bit of work for today, the part I detest, I really wish Tamiya would give us pre cut bodies! The Bigwig is probably the biggest PITA shell I've ever had to cut out!! I still have some fine trimming to do but had enough of cutting out the shell for today, really didn't enjoy this step and will be happy when I can move on for paint!!! On a positive note, the rear hook setup for the shell mount is a really cool touch! cheers Nito

Tamiya Club Official Top 10 Fastest RC'ers List

I had to laugh out loud, that War Rig is beyond awesome, I love it! Congrats, that is shifting and looks so stable from here, incredible bit of kit. -
Actually the manual does show it correctly, I must have interpreted it wrong the first time... Fortunately it didn't look right so I corrected the mistake at the time anyway but definately a pay attention moment...how it should look, bear in mind this is the view from the underside (from where it is assembled anyway)
-
Thanks, yeah the gaitors, I followed the manual first time but it looked wrong and didn't fit great, so I redid it, I'm happy with the second attempt which has it tapering on the vertical profile rather than the horizontal.

This was at home waiting for me last night, thank you to my wife, it has travelled from the opposite side of the world...

Bunch of animals lol! Well, after careful examination they look identical except the area where the steering ball mounts, the Boomerang ones are longer on the stem with the holes further away by 2.5mm. Pic below shows the Boomerang hubs which the Bigwig manual says 'not used'; the dim shows approx 5.5mm above. It's difficult to get a similar shot of the Bigwig (TA one?) as it's mounted on the car now but measuring from the same point yields 3mm. On a progress note (using the term loosely), the steering is all hooked up now, because of the grease involved I don't have any assembly pics of the rack which is a pity as it is a unique setup and quite enjoyable to see come together. A little mock up... And this is where I'm up to, I've fitted the front end but left the rear as I want to paint the engine. I've tried to house the RX beneath the yellow plate, not stuck down yet but looks suitable there. I'd like to use a quickrun esc but unfortunately looks like I'm going to need to buy one as clearly I don't have any left unless I put one in an unbuilt kit box, which I've yet to check. Shocks to do and then I'm stuck until I can get into paint time, which is always a time consuming process that is hard to start and put down when using airbrushes with cleaning time in between, etch primer, base coat, top coat, clear coat etc to mess about with nevertheless I'm looking forward to it. Need to cut the shell out and mask first so I can paint all the bits I need in one hit.
-
They don't look any different strength wise to me. The only difference I can see is a slight variance in the steering ball location, maybe 1mm!!
-
Thanks Max, so the boomerang hubs would work just fine also then? Not much to report today, just walked in from work but managed this early this morning... Receiver is setup, I could have sworn I had some quicrun esc's 'in stock' but it appears I don't so put a Tamiya esc on for now!
