I was going to say, is that how you filmed the video? Is that using a quad copter and go pro or similar. -
Tamiya Chassis Lipo compatibility
Nitomor replied to tamiya monkey's topic in All things electric...
I use this from HPI; http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-plazma-7.4v-4000mah-20c-lipo-round-case-stick-pack-re-chargeable-battery-deans-plug-jst-xh-balance-lead/rc-car-products/35027 Works anywhere a stock 7.2 stick would go. The only model of mine that this is tight on, but still fits, is the lunchbox. -
GF01 Build, for my daughter
Nitomor replied to jkyamog's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
That's great. Mine enjoy going for a bash, but they don't really want to get too involved in anything else. My eldest wanted to help me sand off the flash lines on a mad bull shell the other day, lasted about 60 seconds! Still, it's the thought that counts and it's something. I think they probably think I'm a nutter for spending about 18 hours on a Bruiser build! How is the GF01 holding up? How old was your daughter when you got this for her? My youngest was 6 when he got his Mad Bull, my eldest got his a little after the youngest, he was 7 and I got him an ebay Dual Hunter in mint condition. As XV says, nice to see the younger generation expressing some interest. My friend has just done a Hotshot build for his 7 year old son. Cheers Nito -
Seeing that Juggernaut just makes me think of Vinny Jones in xmen..."I am the Juggernaut"....lol

I take it this sold as taken off ebay a few days ago? Cheers Nito

Lol, I bought 2 of these, take it they were from Modelsport with their £7 iirc price at xmas. I also bought a Luncbox shell. I received this today; 3 piece hop up wheels for my Bruiser build...full build details here as I wasn't able to post on this forum at the time!! It's a little detailed http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/202608-tamiya-hilux-bruiser-build-thread/

Which tamiya to get for messing about on the beach?
Nitomor replied to AndyjcClod's topic in General discussions
WT01 is my stock answer for everything lol! Have to admit, I'm getting tempted with a modified Blitzer after all the positive reports on them... Question; what is better at the beach, plastic bearings, or rubber shielded? -
I had 4 minutes of pleasure...because I've got that twice over !!

Thanks for the heads up Rob. Might try to employ that sometime! Cheers Nito

I have just recently bought a ball diff for mine! but was advised against this as it makes it harder to control at speed and some other reason I now can't remember. I bought that at the time of using the grease, but quite happy with the heavy duty grease unless I get another failure, then I'll need to re look at it.

Another great build I'm just discovering. Your work is truly inspirational Rob! What kind of servo are you using for the Willy figure, any photos of the rear of the driver showing the servo install? Cheers Nito
-
Just seen this build, nice idea on the top mounts. The only thing I would change is servo mounts for gpm mounts, and fit a metal geared servo. We're running £30 savox water proof metal geared in my kids trucks. It's the only weakness I've really found. We have broken countless acoms as17 servos, it's a pain to get to it and you'll end up loosing the little black spacer when the screw falls out, which it will, the kit screw isn't very good. If you fit an uprated servo, fit the servo screw that comes with it. If you end up going brushless, I'd recommend packing the rear diff out with a thick grease, I used an HPI heavy duty green grease. I was having drive problems, a lot later on after quite a bit of bashing, where the car was spinning up but not moving, after checking all sorts it turned out to be in the diff, even though there was no sign of any wear or damage in that component. Mine's running a 9T equiv so wouldn't expect any issues like that for quite a while anyway. Enjoy! Nito

Fantastic Rob, thankyou for that. I wondered how you held the styrene in place, I wouldn't have even considered the supports, Cheers for the tip, Nito -
Great thread! Lots of ideas for inspiration here. Thanks Nito

That's an awesome collection Rob. Congrats. What did you use to infill the back of the petrol can? I was looking at infilling mine because it really bugs me being hollow. Kind regards Nito -
The Best And Worst Rc Car You Ever Had ?
Nitomor replied to wilo in aus's topic in General discussions
Hard thread this one. For me, best has to be the WT01 Mud Blaster II. Simply because it's so useable everywhere, that it is my basher of choice and so reliable with some minor mods and I've had some great experiences with it. Runners up would be modified LB and WW2 but it's early days for the WR02 Wild Willy 2. For road going, the TA03F Pro. For nostalgia - The Hornet, my first RC bashed to death and still trooped on. Now I have a pair of Monster Hornets that I'm itching to drive but being limited editions they're shelf queens in my nostalgia shrine. Might buy another to run as a basher/trasher. Seconded maybe by the Manta Ray, which really seemed to move the game on at the time compared to anything else I'd had. Worst - Sorry to Kyosho fans, but my Turbo Optima, awesome car to look at but everytime it went out it broke, favourite was the front uprights near the lower wishbone, all the time. Chewed gears up too from memory. Ended up swapping it for a Hotshot II with Technigold engine which was a rocket back then! Other worst cars, the various Nitro's I owned (Tamiya/Kyosho), filthy, dirty temperamental things, thank goodness for Lipo and brushless! Best build - The Bruiser, by far, but I haven't used it yet. I hope it isn't a let down to drive. -
That's an awesome bike collection there...awesome! I too am a huge two stroke fan, keep looking at Mk1 Aprilia RS250's, but I think the rebuild requirements would put me off. lol @ the boom box collection, great and certainly different. My money drains are; Private schools (that's a killer), leaving much less nowadays for; cars, bikes, RC cars, tools and camera gear. KnightRider lol: and Street hawk! The tourer...

30th Annaversary Hornet - Black Metallic Special
Nitomor replied to Pintopower's topic in Re-Release Discussions
Yup, sounds like a typical well used Hornet thats provided hours of fun!! I think I'll end up with another in the future to run as a basher, monsterised of course with brushless and wheelie bar!! might need to upgrade the steering links for that. Shouldn't have to worry about grounding out the gearbox in momster spec though!! Enjoy... -
That's so tempting, if you still have it end of next week on pay day I could be interested. What's the kit car? Cheers Nito

Best basher - Wt01 vs stadium blitzer/blitzer beetle
Nitomor replied to Terz1's topic in General discussions
I'm using Savox 0231mg servos (£28 )in the kids rigs, these are waterproof too since my kids can't resist submarining them at every possible opportunity!; http://www.stevewebb.co.uk/index.php?pid=SAVSW0231MG&area=Servo Seem to be doing the job well and they do bash them hard! I don't have a lot of experience with steering servo's tbh, on most cars the stock Acoms have been fine, but these chassis definitely put more pressure on the servo. I'm using the big jumbo Futaba S3306 metal geared 2BB, waterproof, 24kg/cm torque (and they're only £20 or so on line http://www.stevewebb.co.uk/index.php?pid=FUTS3306&area=Servo , but you'll need gpm servo mounts to shoe horn this in and it weighs 128g instead of around 37g of a standard plastic geared jobbie, it's a monster and helps keep the front end down if you go brushless! I also just put a standard size Futaba S9405 metal geared dual BB in my bruiser but haven't tried it out in earnest yet. That's about 65g in weight and cost £35 posted on ebay (steve webb models, they have more). -
Best basher - Wt01 vs stadium blitzer/blitzer beetle
Nitomor replied to Terz1's topic in General discussions
Great price on that mud blaster, the bonus items are wheel bearings, so you'll want some gearbox bearings. The gbox is ready assembled so you want to disassemble it and ballrace it. Only takes 10 minutes. I'd also recommend a metal geared servo from the outset. Cheers Nito -

What shell is that pink one? And what chassis is it on. Two that stand out for me, and there are some great ones here, but the Spektrum Avante and XV's Manta Ray which looks miles better than the box art. I used to have a manta ray years ago!
