  1. Loving that Taisan Skyline shell. I got the normal R32 shell for xmas. That's probably one of the best colours for it, lucky so and so!! I'm liking the black WR02 wheels as well, was considering them for my WW2. And did someone mention XV-01 pro...drool!
  2. Dragging up an old thread but just seen these; or these; Does anyone have any experience of them? I heard the RC4WD hex kit was weak, as in the replacement shaft kit and I wouldn't want to do that anyway. These seems ok, that said, may as well just go with the available plastic beadlocks or alternative metal ones of which I've seen a few; RC4WD with deeper offset on front (left wheel) to widen the front axle to match rear Ebay one same as original dims I'm sure I saw some gold ones a while back too! Anyone have any feedback? Cheers Nito
  3. Thanks for the reply. What a pity, I loved the digital trims because my kids always mess up the trim positions on the older ones. The Acoms one was a really elegant/classy looking unit and the receiver was tiny. I don't know what to go for next time!!
  4. Love the TA03F Pro. I have 2, a pro and normal F. The Pro is a lot more precise. Hmm, it's a close call, here is my shell, a Brat which doesn't have much overhang. I think the BM probably has more overhang but note the bumper protrudes slightly at the base with this one. However, I have just fitted the foam bumper on the front and this shell no longer fits so it might get reassigned to the Mud Blaster II basher. I can confirm that Impreza '97 WRC and Supra shells fit fine. I fancy an XV01 of some description, love the concept of motor out front for weight distribution. I much prefer the way the TA03F goes over my TA02.
  5. WT01 with a polycarbonate undertray WR02 would be fun.
  6. Crazy how time flies when we're obsessing over details. But it's so satisfying when you can walk away and look back at a good job. After lining up the LB and WW2 the other day, I measured wheelbases this morning on the various different chassis to see if I could fit a swb bodyshell on the Wild Willy 2. Dims below are +-2mm. WR02 WW2 = 170mm CW01 Lunchbox = 210mm WT01 Mud Blaster II = 280mm So it's a no go I think for the swb bodyshells on the WR02 I fancied a 210mm wheelbase Lancia Stratos HPI shell! Might try it anyway, it'll be 20mm out on each arch. Might just need to trim the arch to suit.
  7. That Berman beetle really shifts, cool vid. What setup is that running, did I read 13T brushed with a 7.4 lipo? Good thread with some great info. You'll clearly enjoy whichever!! Cheers Nito
  8. Excellent! That's the spirit! I'm currently running 93mm front and 103mm rear on the GPM towers. I was going to get another set of 93mm to trial it at the same height front to rear as I think it may resist over turning slightly better but t's not a big problem at the moment as you can see from the vids. I haven't tried that yet, but you don't want any shorter than 93mm front or any longer than 103mm rear. 93mm all round pretty much replicates stock ride height. It's really pretty good as it is so I'm not in any desperate rush to experiment with changing it yet, though I would like to try it for experimentation purposes. Bear in mind that shock length is with GPM towers and the 93mm shocks actually come up about 95mm long. Without towers my Dual Hunter is running 85mm rears (they come up at 87mm) and you definately don't want longer than that with stock shock towers and definately not this long on the fronts as that angle with steering too would be too much I fear, and 67mm tamiya fronts, you wouldn't want any shorter that really, which is working well on that as far as I remember but I haven't used that truck for ages so I can't honestly say anymore at the moment, will have to give it a run at the weekend. It's a lot slower in silver can guise so its not being subjected to the same forces. The standard chassis has the same length shocks all round. I wouldn't run my brushless at the same angle at the rear that the dual hunter is currently at, that is with 80mm clearance, that angle is ok with silver can but I'm sure its probably too extreme to reliably run brushless without wearing out the rear cups. Standard shocks are 68mm and give 50mm ground clearance on stock towers but with naff all range. 103mm on gpm mounts give 65mm clearance. 93mm dampers on gpm tower give 50mm, same as stock clearance but with a full damping range. 85mm shock on stock towers gives 80mm clearance. I quite like the nose down look. I would definately upgrade the servo to metal geared with metal servo mounts, and the shocks. My wife's one is running TA03 oil filled cva dampers and that handles very well also. At the end of the day, you get much better range with the GPM towers. So really towers and 93(95)mm dampers all round for stock height would be a pretty safe bet. If you want a bit more clearance at the rear and to cope with the squat from brushless, then you know you can happily go to 103mm rear which is where I'm at. If you're sticking with stock towers, then 67mm front and either same or 75mm or so rears. Hth Nito
  9. Agree with a WR01, but I would go with a Dual Hunter as this has an ESC which means you don't have a manual speed controller servo sat just where you want your rear wheel steer servo! Or find a WT01 and add the gearbox. These are usually about £20 on ebay new, but then you'd need to find a dual motor esc.
  10. And here's the Dual Hunter... (same chassis) With 85mm shocks, check out the ground clearance...
  11. Thanks, it's a great fleet, we've had great fun with them and I only need one lot of spares! I also have a Blackfoot III on order with Fusion to add to that lot! The ground clearance and stability for the height is what's great They really are go anywhere and pretty light considering. Although it isn't 4wd, I've never missed it. The extra torque from the BL setup and the balooning of the rear tyres if you do get stuck pretty much sees it go anywhere! With our long grass a lot of RC's can struggle. Mad Bull types are pretty much on the limit for that terrain, rally cars like TA chassis are no go's. I love the look of rally cars, those shells work perfectly on these. Another gratuitous shot; The wife's cossie "So much torque the chassis twisted" - F&F quote, it didn't on this lol!
  12. Can you fit a jumbo servo in a Blitzer? In seriousness it does a great job helping to keep the nose down on a brushless set up!
  13. Case in point re the shells; Just looking at the blitzer chassis, I would say that the WT01 looks much tougher than the bathtub design. These really can handle a beating. As above, parts etc are much easier to find, they share components with other models and so many hop up options.
  14. I've never had a problem with battery protection, the plastic brackets protect it either side as do the wheels. If anything water is the only thing it's not adequately protected from, although you could easily bag it. What's the ground clearance like on the Blitzer?
  15. I don't have any Blitzer experience so it wouldn't be fair for me to comment. I love the WT01, it's my regular basher and I love it!! Virtually any shell will fit on it, it handles brushless no problem, very tough, I haven't actually broken anyting apart from stripping gears on a puny acoms servo. Now that has been replaced with a Jumbo futaba it is awesome. Here's a couple of vids from a recently family bash to give you an idea. Mine is the blue one, it's a Mud Blaster II currently sporting an Impreza WRC shell. The kids are using Dual Hunter WR01's. (same chassis but twin motor 4wd as you are probably aware) Here's a write up on my build thread... http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/160586-tamiya-wt01-wr01-monster-truck-build/ Hope it helps. Any questions, ask away! Cheers Nito
  16. Correct on all counts. The LB rears go straight on, the Bush devil rears needed the frog hex adapter kit (Tamiya part). Steering arms/stub axles are just LB/MP ones, and the front bumper needs cutting down, that's it. On my Jun I actually got a new purple bumper from Japan so as not to hack up the original lest I ever return it to stock...which I doubt! Cheers Nito ps..they're monster racer ribs on the front...very rare and expensive but I wanted to keep in with the hornet theme of ribbed up front and spiked (WR01) at the rear. For the Black I wasn't so bothered, wanted it to look different anyway and had the LB blacks available and unused from my lunchie black (which is an A-Team van on stadium blitzer wheels and HPI Yoko tyres).
  17. That looks stunning Speedy!!
  18. Most transmitters have a channel reverse switch on the outside somewhere, rev/norm or something. What tx are you using? Cheers Nito
  19. Agree that the reverse on the throttle servo is set the wrong way around. I hate this esc for the same reason. It has a horrible delay and soft start when going into reverse. In your case the car is going in a forward direction when it should be going backwards. With the soft reverse, I think it brakes first, then after a few moments activates reverse. It's horrible to use and I regret the day I ever bought that esc...looked good on paper too! Good luck, it's just in the setup as above. Cheers Nito
  20. That's a good price for a nice solid reliable radio. I have a bunch of these on our older cars. Is there any chance Acoms will re release their excellent 2.4g stick radio? They were fantastic, no idea why they stopped doing them. I don't want to go with anything else but I'm struggling now with finding a decent alternative.
  21. Anytime baby in Japanese...(courtesy of google translator...anyone speak Japanese here??!) いつでも 赤ちゃん Pronounced; Itsu demo...akachan Cool. Wonder if this is too literal...as in toddler baby...which wouldn't be so cool lol!!
  22. Thanks, here's a better shot maybe;
  23. Love it, that's what my old one was like way back. But it always kept on chugging! I'm tempted to do a third and go Brushless/Lipo with a Lunchbox wheelie bar on the back and maybe a DT01 gearbox with a limited diff. Might just buy a stocker for this. I'd also like to get the words' Anytime Baby' written in japanese for the Jun Watanabe and made into a sticker in pink and purple but that might be a bit ambitious! I would have liked a Candy Green Monster Hopper too but I missed that one! Cheers Nito
  24. I love it when a Bash comes together!! Our last one the other day was a disaster. I lost a screw off my rear shocker and didn't have a spare which put me out. And some of our Nimh batteries were wreaking havok with the low voltage cut on the ESC's on the kids dual hunters. I've since cycled the batteries on discharge/recharge a few times and think they've come back. My nephews Midnight Pumpkin which I thought was going to get destroyed continued faultlessly lol!! Here's what I did today, finished this WR02 WW2 and took a few pics with the Lunchbox! The Chassis' side by side... Quite impressed with the WR02 so far, much more fun than I thought but only been in the kitchen so far. It's an evolution of the WR01 so I should love it. Already thinking about a basher shell a la Lancia Delta Integrale swb bodyshell. Or maybe even a Stratos Gp4!! Which I'm thinking might be a perfect fit. Cheers Nito
