  1. I actually have a couple of builds I need to get going on. It will be nice when I can get everything organized when I move and have more room!

I need to get the Shelf Queen Fox done

Next is a Turbo Optima I picked up that has not been completely built yet. The prior owner never finished it so it's never been ran at all. Everything is still brand new I just need to complete the build.

I can't wait to get moved and situated

  2. Thanks fellas

I'm going to build a Shelf Queen out of all the Fox's I have taking all the best off of each and making one perfect one.

I have a few Fox bodies already but I have wanted a new one just so it's perfect! I can use that Paint Remover stuff I got but I will always remember that and would bug the heck out of me. Plus I get to add all the stickers just like the box art. I guess you could call that anal :-)

When I get moved into my new place I will get started on the project. I cant wait now that I have the body.

And no I am not building the NIB Fox I have. I will leave that for a rainy day, a real rainy day.

When I get started I will document the progress as Old School was saying. I should be moving in within a month or so.

  3. I have the axles, cups and bones, now I'm trying to find the gears. I'm gonna go brushless with this one, and with my heavy throttle finger, I suspect I'll eat a few gears. Got any of those parts laying around?.

Yes I did! I couldn't believe I picked it up so cheap. I'm working on a deal now for a few other parts with that seller.... I'll keep ya informed. If it all works out I might have something special coming my way.

If that works out, one of my foxes is gonna be up for sale soon, to make room.

So you won that auction with two sets of Parma arms!! Argh I wanted those!

The Parma arms have a weak point... The ball connectors at the end. They are flimsy, soft plastic and don't take impacts well. I broke one in the first couple of packs. It's an easy, cheap fix though. I replaced them with the larger Traxxas ball rod ends. Much beefier and also easier to install/remove. I'll snap some a pic or two and post them up for ya.

Oh Bad I am totally jealous about that Hot Trick stuff! If you ever want to sell please let me know.

No that wasn't me that won those 2 Parma Arms off Ebay. I just happened to have a local friend who has an unreal amount of vintage parts and he had 2 sets of those Parma's at his house just laying around I guess.

    I'm still jealous :-)

  4. BAD That was you that won that Hot Trick Fox part on Ebay?! I was watching that but totally forgot it was ending :-) OOPS. You snooze you loose.

    Those Parma Arms look awesome.

I just got 2 packs of those Parma Arms thanks to a friend of mine here in Washington. Old School yours should be showing up.... well whenever it gets thru Customs I guess :-)

It's nice to see how they look in a picture and already on a car.

  5. WTFAYTB??!?!?!?You'd better post up some additional info on that statement.. I'm looking to beef up my Fox gears and can't find sh!t out there. I've been looking for months for a Thorpe set up. Come on buddy, don't hold out on us.

Hey Bad what info did you need for the Thorp set up for the Fox? I have all of the stuff still in bags for the Dirt Burner Thorp axles and cups.

  6. I put Kyosho equaliser shocks in Google images to see what they looked like assembled.

    This came up. :o

Might have to get myself a pair now.

I told her she couldn't do that photo shoot! Wait until I get home to give her a piece of my mind for not listening!

  7. I had a similar experience as well. First time to the track since the 80's and all I saw was SCT's being smashed and jumping 90 feet ( that is an exaggeration ) but close.

I stayed on the field (out of the way of the track) as I am a terrible driver so I could help with turning my vehicle back over or just getting it turned the right way. When I stepped on the track to get my car I swear they were trying to either hit me or run my car over every time. It didn't matter if your picking up someone else's car they still didn't care. I realize I suck as a driver and I understand getting out of the way, I raced motocross, so stay in your lane! I get it. But man I wanted to strangle a couple people there.

After going a couple times I asked my friend who used to race RC Cars and he said he stopped going just because of that. He got real tired of all the attitudes at the track.

    I understand why

  8. A couple of 'firsts' for me today..

    1. using Rit dye on wheels - Rit Sunshine Orange, 4 minutes gave a new set of lightweight wheels a different look..

    2. made a battery strap for the DB-01R from some carbon fibre sheet - pretty happy with it as a first attempt ;)

Hey Wolf that stiff works like a champ! I love Rit Dye.

    Looks great! Good work

  9. HI all I picked this Chassis up a while ago and was thinking it was an Optima but I wasn't 100% sure? I know there is a whole lot of experience on this site so I am sure someone knows what it is.

Also I have done a little research and found out that Hot Trick was supposed to be the "Trick" thing back in the day. Haven't seen much lately though.

    Here is some pics

  10. You have to go to ''my settings'', then to ''manage attachments'', you are allowed a maximum of 500k of total pics for non members, so you'll have to delete some if you want to upload some new ones

Thanks Pizza. I noticed you mentioned "Non Members" I paid the fee thru Pay Pal so I should be a member? I did go and look at the attachments and it was over the size.

  11. The original Ultima is on my wish list, and I've already got a bunch of parts to restore it. The Ultima I have is the Ultima 2, which is quite different.

The polished shocks will not do, its all I see now! Waiting on Zac_F83's shocks to arrive, then will start hunting for the rears.

Just being curious though, what Kyosho cars (or trucks) do you guys have?

First very nice work on you car restoration, looks great.

    The list :-)

I have that Ultima you were talking about. Mine needs work for sure but it's a rainy day!

Optima - It's my runner for now but I have 2 others so I can take the best off of each. Although there isn't much left that can be used for a shelf queen :-)

And I just picked up a, not NIB, but close I guess Turbo Optima. I got it off ebay and the listing said "Never Ran" I got it yesterday and they were right it has never been ran before. It's not even 100% built yet either. I would say 85-90% built. The only problem I can see so far is it looks like the prior owner tried to add a M3 screw in the M2.6 hole where you screw the Chassis Guard, Main Chassis into the Rear Plate.

I have looked a little bit for a new Chassis Guard (OT-71) but haven't found one yet. I may use the one off my other Optima but it's thrashed.

I have a new set of the Main Chassis Bars so I am good there. It's possible I may be able to run a tap thru the hole as well. We'll see.

    I will add pics

  12. I don't think thier worth making. I replaced them with the axle (less drive cup) from my Hotshot bin of parts. The drive cups were beyond repair but the axles had proven they don't break. I went to a 5 x 8 bearing too.

The bigger bearing will probably be better anyway. Oh well.

When I first saw your post I assumed the shaft was breaking right where the threads meet the "bearing Step" on the shaft. That's why I was thinking a bigger Radius but this was not the case at all :-)

To be honest the shaft itself looks like just plain old Pot Metal or something really cheap. You'll most likely be Way better off the way you went anyway.

I have a CNC shop at my "disposal" and I keep telling myself I want to make some parts! But the machines are always running and I don't want to work on Sunday :-) The first thing I want to make is the set of Optima Wheels Type A. I ordered a set to model on Jan 25th and still haven't seen them!!! Geez I know they are in BFE but man I am not a patience man :-)

My plan is to take the ones I get and measure them up then make a set out of plastic. Plastic is way cheaper to "tinker" around with than Aluminum. Making a Titanium Set would be the best!

  13. I almost forgot Dave. I grabbed this at the Hobby Shop as well. I am now putting it all together.

The stock tires are really good on the Wraith but I needed to add weight around the rims. It get a little top heave at times. I haen't had real good luck getting tires off when glued. Iv'e tried boiling but didn't work.

So I got the Axial Beadlock rims

    Super Swamper tires

    Wheel Weights

    Aluminum Shock upgrade.

Nothing big but I can't wait to run it with the weight on the rims
