  1. The Madbull / Grasshopper 2 shell does look good on there though as does the Kamtec Beetle shell, which fits the extended wheelbase ok if you bodge up your own body mounts and don't mind trimming a fair bit off the shell around the back end and rear arches
  2. Tough call....I guess so long as you're happy with the result that's the main thing, personally I like to make most of my Tamiyas 75-90% box art with a few tweaks to 'make it mine' - unless I really don't like the box art scheme.
  3. I'm amazed no one has mentioned the scale looking masterpiece that was the DT01 Fighter Buggy RX......Tamiyas ugliest (or second ugliest!?) and most toy looking shell and it only covered half the chassis!!
  4. Ah ok, my mistake then, you know what they say about assumptions! Looks like the owner of the wrecked car I bought for parts upgraded his prop shaft himself Good luck with your build and those elusive suspension bits
  5. Matman - dunno if you're aware but having looked at the Super Sabre rear gear box and bits I'd bought for parts I discovered that it uses a different prop shaft to the Boomerang. The Boomerang used the old piano wire prop shaft whereas it seems the Super Sabre used one with a hex end on it. Maybe I read somewhere before that some versions of the HotShot used this hex prop shaft too but I can't be sure as I've never owned one?
  6. Time to call an amnesty on the Dual Ridge hating! Everybody has different tastes and everyone's entitled to their opinion isn't that a good thing?! No one is wrong. Some like scale looking RCs some like far out and funky looking RCs and there's a big enough market to keep most everyone happy. Personally I like pretty much everything up until the Thunder Dragon and Manta Ray appeared but that's just me. I'm sure both those cars and the Dual Ridge run way better than my vintage Fox or Mud Blaster etc but I'm happy to pick and purchase my cars based on what matters to me but it doesn't mean my collection is better or worse than anyone else's. Tamiya produce all sorts of RCs and I like that - even if I don't like then all
  7. A batarang is the bats wing shaped boomerang that batman has
  8. Dual Ridge isn't my cup of tea but simple solution is I don't have to buy one! It looks a bit like a silver shoe box with half a cycling helmet attached at the front and a Batarang behind it!
  9. Well I'm pretty new around this forum but it's great to see what a genuine, decent, helpful, friendly bunch you all are!! Whoever said you don't get owt for nowt?!
  10. Cheers Matman I'm sure that's what I'll end up doing Do you have original decals? They seem to come up quite a lot and are pretty cheap, mine were 15 quid
  11. Hhmmm that's a new one to me but seen as I'm starting out with a Boomerang I'm hoping I can use the existing hardware and just swap out the yellow CVAs for my redaughter ones and swap over the damper mount? Will check later on tonight. Cheers and good luck with sourcing them, my guess is you might need a beatime up old parts car?
  12. Cheers guys Looking through your list Max it seems I have everything (I have Hotshot steering knuckles but Pizzachude gives me good news in that they will work) Matman - I'm new to the forum and can't figure out how to attach photos yet - and the brass damper spacer tube....what exactly is this part? Cheers once again fellas Lexan chassis cover needs ordering and I think I'm all set.....
  13. Repaired my Stadium Blitzer today, just front end off and servo saver re-mounted.....Every time my nephew drives the thing it results in the same outcome within half a battery pack!! Might have to bolt on a big old Lunchbox or Grasshopper bumper to try give the front end a bit more protection
  14. It kinda baffles me that original Falcon decals are so scarce, with it being one of the cheaper kits you'd assume loads must have been made and sold and that as a result there'd be more decals left in existence than seems to be the case. Last time I saw any on ebay they were fifty sheets!
  15. I'm about to convert my second (beat up) Boomerang into a Super Sabre I've been collecting parts for a while and have original decals, reproduction body, original rear damper mount, red CVA's and red battery holder, from the top of my head the only thing I don't think I have are the red steering knuckles....does anyone know if the red Hotshot parts will fit, they do look pretty much the same but I'm sure someone on here will know definitively....? Cheers Danny
  16. Just to add as well if and when you fit a 540 size motor, the black plastic motor mount you'll currently have installed with your 380 motor is no longer required As said above you'll really notice the difference if you do the upgrade New 540 silver can motors sell online for peanuts
  17. You'll need the 18 tooth pinion from the Hornet too though as I'm pretty sure that the little 10 tooth pinion gear of the Grasshopper 380 motor is fixed onto the motor shaft and can't be removed easily. You'll also need a grub screw when you order your new pinion gear. As anyone will tell you a steel pinion gear is a much better choice over an aluminium one
  18. Thanks fellas I've managed to sign in and stay signed in on my phone so I'm sorted but try what may I can't log in via any other device Not to worry though as this way I've got Tamiya Club in my pocket all the time
  19. Brilliant I've never heard of the Wild Saurus but I just Googled it.....your take on it is way way better
  20. The postman brought me a genuine Bigwig decal sheet! Well packed and crease free. Twenty quid - which is way less than I've seen them go for in the past....maybe the seller knows something about an upcoming re-release that regular punters like me don't? Either way I'm happy
