  1. Great approach 👍
  2. I didn’t pick up on the technic shown in the Tamiya manual, until I read this thread 😂 YT was my ‘Oh that’s how you do it 🤦‍♂️’ teacher, otherwise I be in the ‘skills issue’ camp as well 😳
  3. It’s been nearly 3 years since I started this project and 18 months since I last did anything useful with it - however I had a pair or fairly worn out RR rear wheels left over from a job lot I bought from @jonboy1 and this remaining pair of wheels went round and round on eBay without a sniff of interest and then an equally worn out front pair came up, which I bought for just over £4 including delivery. Stripped down, throughly cleaned by hand and then through the sonic cleaner, wheel edges reimagined with a scalpel and tyres soaked in silicon lube for a month. A mini project is the way I looked at them, still not good enough to sell on, but good enough to put on this stalled project to run it around the garden -
  4. Thought I’d make a start on the shocks tonight - new piston rods, O rings, bladders and e-clips.
  5. Thanks Kev, it is very basic, but I’m enjoying it. As it has been low cost to me and a ReRe I can enjoy running it without being to precious which is great. I’ve moved on from being heavy handed, but my driving skills are limited, so picking up scuffs and scratches is inevitable, but not dispiriting now.
  6. Welcome back and BB are also always very welcome too 👏
  7. Looks great @Elbowloh 👍 I’m hoping to rebuild my XV-01 shocks this week, I gathered the parts together last night ready for some ‘T’ time 👍
  8. Great build feedback, 4 small grumbles seems positive to me. It’ll be interesting to read your feedback on running it and maintaining it.
  9. Just made my 1st Jadlam purchases, just a couple of small items, for my XV-01 and Grasshopper builds. Trying to keep my RC spending in-check and just purchase items for the 2 current projects 😂
  10. Fantastic detail, top quality thread and build 👏
  11. The saga started out with a very rusty XV-01T which I now have as a pile of parts. I love the Stadium trucks and lots of TC members talk highly about the XV chassis, so it seemed like a good plan to buy a project, then strip it and rebuild it. That was August ‘23 ⬆️ and then by July ‘24 I was bored 😂, and bought a mint XV-01 chassis - no wheels, shocks, electrics or shell🤦‍♂️. The idea being I’d put the T parts on it, however a cheap new built TT02 Focus came up which I parted out, keeping the parts I need for the 2nd XV-01…. So for the moment I’m going to complete the 2nd XV-01 as a Ford Focus rally car and then either sell the T or maybe start to reassemble it.
  12. Had these parts turn up today. I have all the components now to rebuild the shocks and to put the road wheel set together.
  13. It is a shrine isn’t it? A Tamiya shrine 👍
  14. Hi @skom25 I honestly don’t know, the sway bars were fitted to the chassis when I bought it. I’ve left them on, as the advice is that they help reduce body roll.
  15. Ordered some small parts today, so I can complete the 2nd chassis purchase. 2 sets of tyre foams, 4 wheels, 4 rally block tyres, and a set of shock bladders. Looking forward to picking this project up again hopefully this coming Friday evening or over the weekend.
  16. Looking good, really coming on at a decent build pace.
  17. Welcome back 😊
  18. Thanks jonboy. I’m after a set of wheels for the XV-01. *Think I’ve sorted a set of wheels and tyres out this evening now.*
  19. 19! Painted bodies is impressive 👏
  20. Is it worth using Green Slime to help seal diffs?
  21. Hi @jonboy1 Have you got any wheels left? You had a couple of sets and I can’t work out if they have been sold on. Thank you bud!
  22. The TD’s in particular are very tempting at these prices.
  23. I suspect @skom25 & @chris.alex maybe think it was going to be run.
  24. Would it correct to say this XV will be for shelf duty only?
  25. Nice! Unusually I think I have all I need as well, just need to find the time to put it together.
